Like anything new, it's mostly lawless right now. It's starting to move but creating laws as always been a very slow process so yeah, damage will be done and some will avidly profit of this void. Hope it will be sooner than later as we will not be able to stop it.
Maybe I didn't fully grasp how the spirit born from obsession worked but... Why everyone never - not once - think…
I mean, he want FL to be happy. He literally give away his life span just to give her senses - for her happiness once he is gone. But it's obvious that FL will be terribly unhappy once he dies. If you can see Chenying's obsession to protect what he loved deeply, the same logic could be applied to ML - with even better odd as his own death would be the trigger of FL's unhappiness. Like, the frozen scene is the best example of that.
I'm just very confused that no one did bring the subject - like it wasn't even a possibility. Like I'm not saying they should be like "Oh, it's not a big deal that you die my love, you will become a spirit anyway" but they act like it wasn't even a possibility to begin with. Even her Left Hand comment about "not being able to appear before her" was thrown at us without proper explanation. It's like in both case they know something we just don't that could explain why.
Maybe it would make sense if the process was better explained as all we know it's that they are born from their obsession they had once dead. And with only that, we cannot draw the conclusion that every characters stated about his case.
Anyway, it's a minor detail and it's probably just to created those heart aching scenes to then adding the final plot twist. But yeah, it wasn't the best display. Still better than the novel ending.
Well... I cried like a baby. The scene where she froze everything surrounding her... Beautiful. It was a wonderful…
Maybe I didn't fully grasp how the spirit born from obsession worked but... Why everyone never - not once - think ML could turn into a Spirit ? As far as obsession goes, ML is very high imo. First, regaining his land, then FL. He was literally fuel with it.
I'm even more confused about why Lian Ang (Probably wrong name but her Left Hand) said "even if he would turn into a Squid (:P), he wouldn't appear before Simu". Again, why ? It's literally the reason why he would transform into one.
For me, it was 100% sure he would become one. And sure it will take some time to take "human form" but they literally have all the time in the world as spirit anyway. Or again, am I wrong ?
And about the "alternative ending", personally I didn't enjoy it as it's straight up Plot Armor. "You were good guys so here I will save him... And btw, I will also take your spirit power that will conveniently transform you into a mortal!". It isn't a bad ending but it's not a well written one imo. Even if it's apparently the ending of the OG novel, I'm glad they changed it.
It's not necessary. All five couples have standalone stories, so technically, you can watch them separately. Although…
The second couple of this season is really great! In the end for me it was: Arthit/Daotok > Johan/North > Tonfah/Typhoon > Hill/Easter. Maybe it's also the format as for me 12ep made both stories of season 1 a bit dragging. 8ep was perfect.
Not sure about this particular case as I didn't see this drama tbh but those ceremony awards are just show to praise someone else back in their own circle. Oscar, César, you name it. Sometime it's in sync with the popular opinion and sometime it doesn't. And apparently, this drama wasn't part of the circle (or some were closer to it at least).
Nothing choking, nothing new as this type of "scandal" happen almost everytime.
Especially if you consider that they FLEED the country because of their debt. I thought they did it because they…
Pretty sure Tim was very adamant at not selling the house. In the first few episode, his lawyer friend said the same thing - sell the house - but he rejected the idea because it was the only thing he had from their former life.
That being said, yes, them popping out of nowhere was a bit odd.
"I don't care why you watch something or who your favorite actor is, but don't talk about acting if you don't…
Just ignore it as I don't see peoples acting like that seeing your post and say to themselves "Yeah, I shouldn't do that until I educate myself". You do you but it seems rather pointless with undertone of gatekeeping.
And I don't fully agree with your first statement (even if I do understand where it come from). You don't need expertise on a subject to have an opinion and expressing what bother you on something. It's just... Normal ? Again, they are just subjective opinions and I don't think anyone take them as objective one.
For Kdrama fans: I'm never going to understand why people who don't know anything about filmmaking talk about…
"I don't care why you watch something or who your favorite actor is, but don't talk about acting if you don't know how it works. If you're interested, I can tell you how it works, because I actually work in this industry, so please pay attention."
What are you trying to gatekeeping here ? Everyone can express their opinions on whatever subject they want regardless of their "expertise" on the subject. No one expect here to see objective & unbiased opinions backed with year of experience. Everyone here say their completely subjective & personal opinions. You can agree or not, trying to argue about it if you have time to spare but "forbid" all together their right to express themselves is quite... unrealistic don't you think ? ^^
(PS: I understand it can be "annoying" when peoples say the most unhinged & clearly biased opinion just because they hate/love X or Y but at those time, it's preferable to just ignore it)
there is this funny feeling i got from both ep 1 and ep 2Queen and Grand Prince interactions - there is a sexual…
Don't know about the sexual undertone. I don't think she had a crush on him (they have a pretty significant age gap I think). But she didn't want a weak king. She came from a lineage that have a long history at being Queen. She is very prideful of this fact. So when he tried to abdicate she hated him for that as it will also affect her and her son. And now, she even seems to be resentful to her own children as he appear "weak like his father" in her eyes.
who was the older guy with principal at archery competition? Also, who thinks grand prince lost on purpose because1.…
The older guys was the father of ML and former Emperor. He did lose on purpose because his father said to him to not "outshine" the Crown Prince and to not be too outstanding in general (the one that later died in the fire and father of the current child emperor). So it's none of your guess unfortunately even if 1 is quite close.
Can someone please explain the set up to me, because it is not making any sense. Okay, so FL is illegitimate,…
About FL: It's probably just because of her statue. Yes, she is acknowledged but she cannot be the heir. It's stupid but sometime even nowadays, dumb peoples inherit just because of their background.
About ML: He is a royal. And the first and most important duty of a royal is to produce a heir. So maybe it's why he is given "time" for that to happen and some of his duty will be given to the Prime Minister. That being said, he will still be the Regent even married. The goal of the Crown Princess isn't to strip away his tittle. She want him to "pledge" allegiance to her faction and the "Majesty" by marrying a woman of HER choice. Basically, it's a display of submission. And ML doesn't want that so it's why he will marry the FL in the end.
When it comed to historical BLs, I'm always afaid how it'll end...
You too ? ^^
I'm optimistic with this one as the vibe is very "positive" overall & the first scene of episode 1 don't hint to it (as the story itself is a "flashback" of the first scene).
That being said, like some peoples mentioned before, the "tutor" plotline is uncomfortable and could have been easily avoided with this characters being a classmate of some sort. Worse,, they even try to twist it as they were just "helping each other". But yeah, at least it's over - I really hope - and maybe the final episode will turn into a thriller when Akira's Brother will learn the truth. :P
Public opinion is a real thing. Even if someone is declared innocent in the court of law, it doesn't mean he is…
You do you but for me it isn't a black or white type of situation. The father isn't to blame but he is also indirectly responsible of it. Like I said, I also can't blame the mother for her reaction. It was just a shitty situation that ended badly. And if ML felt like you - that it couldn't forgive her - I would understand it. But for me, it's also equally understandable that he forgave her for that matter.
I struggle more about how she reacted when he decided to be lawyer but like I said, it's another story.
Does nobody in China know that everyone is innocent until proven guilty and that everyone has the right to a defense…
Public opinion is a real thing. Even if someone is declared innocent in the court of law, it doesn't mean he is in people minds. And sometime for valid reason.
In this case, ML's father used a "loophole" in the law - not sure if it actually was or it was just peoples saying that because it fitted their narrative but let's pretend it actually used it - rather than clarify that his client was truly innocent. Like evidences were mishandled, a testimony being wrongly taken, etc making the case entirely dismiss because of it.
I'm not saying it's wrong - those protocols are here to protect innocent peoples but let's be honest, they also released some guilty one over technicality. And regardless if the suspect was truly innocent or guilty, it's hard for the public opinion and even harder for the victim's family to accept such verdict. So yeah, it's also not that hard to understand that the blame with be shifted to the one that made this happen - his lawyer. It's a natural emotional response over a logical one.
Now for his wife, sure she could understand and having his back. But it's not "easy" by any mean when everyone scorn you, harass you, send death threats, etc. Personally, I cannot judge her for being right or wrong here as myself I wouldn't know how I would react honestly. And I never want to know.
That being said, she was 100% wrong as to how she acted with her son, but that's another story.
Adding on to Aryamine well explained summary on spirits and spiritual realm. Yes mortal dies and will become spirits…
In some fiction, "negative energy" from mortal like greed, lust, envy, etc... gather and manifest as a demon. I used the term Inner Demons because it fitted but I don't think they have a definite name as far as I know. So here I believed it was one of those. And yes, I did observed those floating squid but again, it isn't he most "common" representation of a soul.
In beginning, FL "traded" a wish for the obsession of the dying father. It became a squid and went "to the sky". Did he ascend and let go of his Obsession ? Did she get power up by "taking it" ? Ngl, I'm just very confused with this concept. In the end, I should probably turn off my brain and don't try to dig deeper as I think it doesn't seem that well explained in the novel either apparently.
I mean... Ngl it make me giggle for the wrong reason. Imagine needing to "uglify" a perfectly good looking actor because well... Talented "not-so-good-looking" actors don't seem to exist in Korea. I know it's untrue but it's the vibe I'm getting for some reason.
The obsession is usually what someone pursued in life but never had so they're obsessed and they manifest as evil…
So spirits truly were mortal before ?
As for ML, his characters is obsessive. About his revenge, about his goal and yeah... about FL too tbh. And while sure, she doesn't "wish" for him to become a spirits IF it's really about his obsession when he die, she doesn't have a say in it. Don't know. I'm still not convince they were mortal to begin with as it still doesn't make sense other wise.
I'm just very confused that no one did bring the subject - like it wasn't even a possibility.
