Can someone explain to me the lore behind the "spirits" in this drama ? Because I'm quite confuse at their innate origin. At first, I believed they were dead peoples with strong obsession that couldn't move on turn into "Evil Spirits" the exception being FL who was born from a mortal & a spirit.
I was thinking this because well, it's "usually" the case and the death of mortals seems to be related to the birth of spirits (they say because of the casualty of the war, the Void became overpopulated).
But this theory doesn't seem to fit perfectly either because as of now, any spirit - again except FL - didn't talk about their potential "mortal life" and if it was the case (Dead people = Spirit) I won't see why FL would fear that much ML dying - like she wouldn't have any chance to see him ever again.
So, now I'm guessing that the "obsession" mortals have during their death is being manifested as Spirits. Somewhat alike the concept of Inner Demons. Am I wrong ? Is it explained better in the novel (or I completely missed the explanation in the drama) ?
Is SML annoying ? Is there any romantic interest SFL? Thank you
Not really annoying. Sure, ML & SML did some small "foul play" to win FL's heart but it was more comedic than anything. Not sure what you mean when you said SFL so just to be sure I will say no SML doesn't seem to have a SFL interested in him but FL does have a "rival" at some point. She is unfortunately the annoying type one (her foul play wasn't cute at all) but she doesn't have much screen time and the "misunderstanding" she provoked was literally resolved in the very next scene.
So yeah, as someone who also don't like Love Triangle, this one is a safe one. Still here, but it isn't dragging (the love triangle between FL/ML/SML as for the romance, it's really a very long slow burn) and FL doesn't show any romantic interest in SML and even less between ML & SFL.
But this one also have a really good secondary couple !
They didn't show us yet cause most likely he didn't kill her.
It's also my guess as she flinched when he grazed her in the meting and he fit the aesthetic of the "pervy old man harassing younger women in their workplace abusing his position".
Oh god. The first r*pe scene was bad enough but the second one is even worse as it try to make us believe that the "receiver" enjoyed it. And even start to fell in love with him. Because he feel pity for him. What a love story.
Ngl, I didn't expect Man to pay for the medical expense of Nava. And he didn't even "blackmail" Sky for it ? Not the best writing here tbh but it's healing and made me smile so who care ? <3
He said on that idol show a few years back he's one eighth Russian
1/8 Russian ? Seems odd to point it out your great-grandparent was a different origin tbh and saying you are a mix because of that (or maybe it's just his MDL profile). Maybe it's because I live in Europe and literally everyone have such background (having ancestor from a different origin) and it's less common in China.
Children day come from Xia Liu Yi's "legend" where he fought many men and win on Children day. Now he will litterally say something like "come celebrate Children day with me" as a threat.
As for Sammy I wasn't sure until episode 5, but He Chusan choose "Sam" as English name at the bank he just started working. So maybe Xia Liu Yi choose "Sammy" as an endearing nickname after learning that ? But it's just a wild guess for now.
I love the SML - Not the Idol but the ML's Best friend - he is such a sweetheart. So in the scene where he confessed and was left crying on the side road I was literally heartbroken. Glad she came back to pick him up. I also love her - the FL's Bestie - but I was frustrated when she left ngl. I mean, his confession was so heartwarming. Don't know how she resisted it at first but she quickly turn back. <3
So now I can't wait to see their story even if I know it will probably be kind of short and underdeveloped sadly.
Ngl, as much as I hate the Nanny, she got a point. Like excuse me, why Qin was never hugged once ? Because they were "busy" ? Even when they learned he was mistreated ? Oo
I'm just speechless tbh. The worse part it's that I'm 100% sure they will have an emotional scene where they will be "forgiven"... Hate this mentality.
Really enjoyed it. All the MLs were such sweetheart for different reasons. I did have a preference for Seonu Chan (Main ML) & Cha Yu Gyeom (the teenager). Those smiles. :3
The FLs were also good. I especially loved their family dynamic.
But tbh, this drama really came at the right time. Don't know if it's just me but recently all the K-Romance I watched were crippled by their Love Triangle plotline. So this one having none was such a breath of fresh air. 9/10
He's 19-20. Laughing like crazy and always smilin (he did smiled more in novel) was his coping mechanism.
So he is really young. Was it said in this drama ? Maybe I missed it. If not, it would have been good to point it out. Also, now knowing that his behavior is rooted in his trauma, I kind of understand where it come from. Too bad the drama didn't show that properly.
I remember the scene with the red birds where he went "crazy" but except this one, I don't recall other instance. As for the smile, it really didn't strike me as "Oh, he is deflecting /coping/being defensive" unfortunately.
Tbh, his smile look more like a smirk than anything so maybe it's that ? It does give this "I don't care vibe" but he also does it when he find FL cute or endearing. Maybe that my issue ? I don't know but thank you (and everyone else) for the input!
The actress playing Simu really have this regal vibe so it really enhance her Sovereign side.
On another hand, I find the gap in the General's character a bit... odd. On one hand we must believe he is some sort of traumatized being that went through so much that is also burdened with some serious responsibility and in another hand, 50% of the time he is acting childlike and goofing around. And his over-the-top simping behavior doesn't help either ngl.
So yeah, I'm really conflicted with this character. How old is he supposed to be ? I was under the impression he was 30+ at least but maybe he is barely 20+. :o
Still, the drama is quite good and maybe he will evolve for the better in later parts.
While slow and a little shaky on the acting, I initially liked this series. But as the episodes have gone on, I…
Just to clarify one thing you have seem to misunderstood. Those countless red letters that threaten Haneul only came after she killed his father and went to Jail. Before that accident, while she did write to him, they were just ordinary fan letters. At this point, no one knew she was actively stalking him even if they did seem to smell something was fishy when she appeared before them two time saying she was "recently living in the neighborhood".
So in this case, you can't blame either of them for this except well... The actual culprit - Seri. And just saying, he never blamed Haneul for his father death, it's just Haneul that had some kind of survivor syndrome as he was indeed protected by the father. He isn't guilty of anything but the mind can be tricky sometime. So him wishing that everything could be his fault was another attempt to take away every burden and scars to himself like he always did.
So no, unfortunately, this accident couldn't have been prevented as she was actually quite "smart" to not get caught.
Hmm... First of all, it was quite a challenging plot for what it seems newbie actors so yeah, the acting skill felt a bit short at time. Some scenes were more like lines delivery than acting. But overall, it wasn't THAT bad to give me the ick.
The plot was interesting but again, probably a bit too ambitious to be perfectly executed. Regardless, I do prefer seeing them trying. And again, while it's not perfect, it's still decent.
The skinship was clearly not what you usually see in K-Drama but for what I understood, it's a Thai production so it does make sense if you are familiar with their BLs (+ seeing the MDL page of the main cast they are under a Thai agency). Kisses were hot and NC scenes were without the usual K-media "shyness". I mean... I saw a bit of a naked butt... (Ngl, it really surprised me for no reason :P).
In the end, I did have a good time despite its flaws. 8/10
I found the first 8 episodes very boring. Is the new story ep9 to 16 any good? Plot?
I personally do prefer this story so far - even compared to the first season. It has a supernatural plot twist (Dao being a Medium + Empath on the the side). The romance is a slow burn and felt very natural. The best way to describe it is that they feel very comfortable with each others.
is yanke going to be the antagonist?where can i find spoilers?
I didn't read the novel but when I expressed the thought that Yan Ke would probably become the obsessive SML turning into Villain someone pointed out that it was already show in the trailer/teaser of this drama.
That's was a messy mess. An entertaining one but ngl, the first part is better than the second one. Just one thing that really bother me is that they made the death of a character look really mysterious but the outcome in the end was quite underwhelming imo. 7.5/10
