This emperor dragged ML into this whole mess, instrumentalizing FL to do it. If he now gets second thoughts he can pound sand for all I care. ML&FL should retire to the North West or emigrate to the East Indies or whatever. This court is just too toxic. Let the Emperor sort it out, really.

Seriously, guys, whenever I think, ok, now our main couple will get a break, there will be some preview or something someone picks up from an episode, that I get all anxious, again. This drama is really toying with my feelings… 🫩

I’m not a fan of any of the actors in both dramas, POJ and TRTS, I just found the POJ storyline a bit contrived.

Ah, ok. I mean I have wondered about some of the ratings…. I guess, that explains it.

I feel the same way. Even regarding her gravest deed, she was persuaded to do it, it was not her scheme. It shouldn’t be forgiven, but it pales in comparison to her husband and moher&fathet in law. And contrary to them, she is already suffering in her position.

I’ve seen POJ. While it was ok, this drama should easily surpass it, no?

While it is ridiculous out if this weasel’s mouth, I understand the broader sentiment. The standard marriage in those circles meant marrying someone you didn’t really know - typically chosen by the family, but even if you chose for youself, the opportunity to know them beforehand was very limited. I very much doubt, though, that YJX even has the slightest understanding or empathy regarding what FL&ML went through together that made them know, value and choose each other with open eyes. Next thing you know YJX will demand a Thank You Card for bringing their match about.

I really hope in the end they bring the Yu family down and then retire to the North West, living happily ever after.

Seriously, I hope this won’t cause a serious rift/split between the leads, it would make no sense. Surely, FL won’t shed a tear for a father who killed her mother?!? Also, if ML again fails to communicate and *that* creates a rift… then I’m losing hope. FL has seen so much crap in her life, and ML knows it, “protecting” her now from hard truths is rather pointless.

Indeed, he ruined so many lives with his actions. Yet, thinking about FL marrying this pathetic man in an “alternative universe” breaks my heart.

That’s what ancient patriarchal societies were like. Just like women were -officially by law - executed for having been raped. It doesn’t matter what went down. In the end she ran away with a man without her father’s consent. In a society were unmarriedwomen were their father’s property that’s how it worked.

Even with those confession letters, FL disobeyed her elders by not dying, running away with a man instead, and a “low class” man at that. I genuinely do not see the value of those letters in that kind of society.

This Fu-father is a piece of work. The Yu family at least is vile in order to secure the family standing as a whole. I don’t approve but there is some logic to it. But this Fu guy is ready to burn down the barn with his daughter in it, just because he does not get his way. What a joke of a father.

I hear you. But realistically, what would those letters change? In that society, no matter how much FL had been wronged, the fact that she chose to run away with ML instead of happily dying for the family would still be held against her. The whole societal logic reminds me of European witch trials. They bound the hands and feet of the women who they considered witches and threw them into the river. If they drowned that was evidence that no witchcraft was involved and their names were cleared. But they were still dead. In such societies, women simply cannot win.

This may be wishful thinking but I hope that the Emperor just puts an end to all the Fu father shenanigans and grants ML and FL a marriage based on their mutual devotion he saw when he first met them.

The Yu couple are surely attuned to one another, they work as one, no questions asked. While I hope for such blind understanding for our main couple, I hope it will be on a morally higher ground.

I would have thought he just wants to see the reform through, without it all going down the drain due to corrupt officials, no?

Ok. I probably won’t be able to watch during the first 10 days then. Well, at least I’ll have something to binge then before catching up…
