I'm on episode 7, The drama made very well, even it's short they cover everything up great, I like it, but at…
ugh. Cherry Magic ruined the entire thing with its prudish, candy-coated ending. I love this show. Is he supposed to say "I won't date you because you are handsome because I am insecure?" He told the guy outright more than once that he is insecure and wondered why he liked him. Doesn't mean he's going to dump him. He will LEARN to feel worth-while and confident. That is what season 2 will be about. :)
SK people are very repetative, for the good and bad, they like to make the same over and over again, and that…
Entirely disagree. There is no new story under the sun and this one was beautifully told. Yes, I would have liked more original plotting, but for the story it DID tell, this was excellent. I would be pissed also if my BF pulled strings with his fucking parents to win me an award and then kept that knowledge from me. You don't think that would make you feel like a fool? SI was basking in the joy of winning the competition and seeing his own story being appreciated, and then he finds out it wasn't his work at all that made the difference, it was his BF asking his parents. Sure, connections exist in all walks of life and make a difference. But this was blatant. You heard the mom say a graduate should have won. For SI, it took all the feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment away.
I truly understand the cynical attitude and that some people will do ANYTHING to get ahead. But there are gray areas in between. Perhaps if the BF had been instrmental in getting his parents to at least see the film if they otherwise wouldn't have, and then left the decision to them it would be different. Here he asked them to have his squeeze win the entire thing. Big difference to me.
But my favorite thing about the entire plot was that he FORGAVE anyway and made a clear-headed decision that they wouldn't work together professionally going forward. As you saw, they were still going to be BFs. Perfect solution to me.
No offense.. but i don't see why it git 8.4 rating..i world give max a 7.. agreed there is.. char growth... chemistry..…
1. Who knows? Not enough time. 2. Who knows? Not enough time. 3. Who knows? Not enough time. 4. No, he clearly stated he was not going to submit the film, so no it did not win. 5. Because he prefers people over stories. But I have no idea what he whispired to SI.
The drama isn't without flaws and there was a clear imbalance in terms of fleshing out characters (Si-won felt…
Limited time, you can't do it all, and I think it was wise to feature the backstory of one over the other as opposed to giving short-shrift to both. SI was telling the story so naturally we know more about him.
I am stunned at how moved I was by this. The acting is so underplayed and realistic, both leads are tremendous. I saw what was going on inside them through their eyes and faces, which cuts back on unnecessary dialogue that always ends up feeling like too much. There is such a naturalistic quality to their interaction. Things aren't rushed when they don't need to be. This shows how to use silence to a film's advantage.
BEST REALISTIC, RELAXED, ROMANTIC BL KISSING NOMINEE. For now, TharnType retains its crown as BL with the hottest, sexual kissing, but these guys...wow.
I would compare this to ITSAY and IPYTM if they were anywhere near the same length. Such beautiful cinematography and realistic interior lighting, which is one of my all-time beefs with Thai BLs especially: every room is lit up like a used car lot even when they are sleeping.
omg...I know there are MDL commenters who would actually say that Bad Buddy was as good if not better than this, to which I just shake my head with wonder. This makes BB look like a POS.
As I indicated, both leads are tremendous in every way. I saw feature-film caliber acting here. But Jo Hyuk Joon, oh my goodness, what a handsome beauty he is. I can seriously see him with a film career. Full, rich speaking voice too. And he is one of the first Asians I have seen with that brownish-auburn rinse many of them use who actually looks natural with it. His coloring for it is good.
BRAVO. 9.5/10 That is the third 9.5 I've ever given to a BL series, the others being ITSAY and IPYTM.
To a lot of people it would be boring. How is that a problem for you? If you enjoy it, watching from your perch…
Write do you write like an uneducated, coarse person? Maybe YOU should stop writing shit and later denying that you wrote it. Also, it's telling that you think a paragraph is beyond your capacity to grasp. lol Probably is.
To a lot of people it would be boring. How is that a problem for you? If you enjoy it, watching from your perch…
No, it's not that easy. I took your comment "literal" because that is what you wrote so I had no way of knowing that you did not mean what you wrote. If you're so open to "everyone having a different taste for everything in life," then why did you insult everyone who disagrees with you and thinks the movie is boring by calling them "weird" and "tasteless" (Actually, the proper usage would be "tasteful.") and telling them to "get going?" Are people here who read your comments somehow supposed to know you don't mean what you write? If that is your "opinion" it is a really pathetic one.
So other than that JC de Vera is unspeakably hot, what was the point of this? It just meandered around with no real plot direction. He went to court every now and then but it was never revealed why it took five years to get a trial and a verdict. Random insanity within the jail. Everything just seemed random to me. Not a fan of how the film presents LGBTQ folks as either straight, masculine gay or extremely feminine to the point where even Mikey would talk about the "gays" as if he wasn't one of them, and all the gays were cross-dressers or trans. Nothing in between. Strange film.
I really enjoyed this film, more so as it progressed. It's a beautiful thing that a skillful film maker can take a relatively run of themill incident like the theft of a bicycle and build an engrossing, engaging, edge-of-your-seat story around it. Highly recommended.
Why didn't Vic tell the other guy what his job is?
I'm not worried about anyone being "ageist," just ignorant and hyper-sensitive. In this case Vic's actions were pretty IMmature. Turning away without comment when Xavier expressed his wish for a long-term relationship rather than engaging him in a give and take, as he deserved to have. Hiding the fact that he was a cop for...what? The logical/normal thing would be for him to say to Xavier during their discussions about the protesting, "because I'm a cop, I'll probably be there, I don't want us to come face-to-face and regardless of that, I don't want you to get hurt." It's up to the writers/director to come up with a plausible reason why he chose not to do that and they utterly failed to do so. As I watched the film it was my take that Vic was very condescending to Xavier as if his views were simply invalid because...reasons.
Why didn't Vic tell the other guy what his job is?
I admired the very naturalistic acting, especially from Vic's Auntie. She totally seemed like a real person. It was a beautiful thing when Vic and Xavier walked into the noodle shop holding hands and she didn't bat an eye. :) Of course I also thought "hmmm...wonder how many other guys she has seem him walking into the noodle shop holding hands with?" lol
Seriously, the age issue: To me they are a few years apart, not 30! People are always thirsty for something to bitch about. Is everyone supposed to only date others their exact same age? How much of a difference is allowed before MDL pearl-clutchers feel faint?
Why didn't Vic tell the other guy what his job is?
I'm not young and I know plenty of dumb-asses who are my age. I also caught that odd moment when Xiang said that on the rooftop, Vic turned away, and Xavier just kind of took another sip of his beer as if that silence didn't indicate anything. I see/notice a LOT of that in Asian flicks, though it may be a Hollywood thing too (i don't know; I haven't watched an American film since I discovered Asian cinema and BL :) , where a character asks another an important question, there is no reply, and the scene moves on as if that non-reply is normal. I'm guessing it's an art-over-reality choice, but it pulls me out of the story when it happens. I'm like "so answer already! What's your problem?" If you lover does not reply to a question as direct and meaningful as Xavier's, one would take notice.
Another amusing but annoying thing in Asian cinema/BL is when a character calls another to set up a get-together, the other party agrees and then they both hang up without agreeing on when and where this is going to happen. lol And people often don't even say "hello" or especially, "good-bye," they just hang up. Always seems odd to me.
To me, the relationship was still in that "body-heat" early period when all you want to do is f**k and bask in…
Well, that's the problem: the subject of Vic's job NEVER comes up until they come face-to-face at the you-know-what. It's just completely implausible. I don't like to see Xavier's interest in environmentalism and other politics made light of. The movie (again) doesn't specify but I got the feeling it is set a couple of decades back when the rampant development of land into buildings in Seoul had reached a fever pitch. Poor people with nowhere to go were seeing their shanty-town homes bulldozed, with barely enough time allowed to get out of the way. Politicians and bureaucrats were accepting bribes right and left in outright bidding to see which bloodless corporation won the rights to destroy lives and rape the environment regardless of consequence. That's why it pissed me off so much that Xavier's dad called and screamed at him, then Vic told him "listen to your father." He kept demeaning the importance and validity of what Xavier's activism was about.
Is there age gap-whining below? I want to read it! :D Good god, I bet they're not even ten years apart at most.
I'm working on not responding to all the stupidity in comments here. I think there are a LOT of very young, inexperienced, social justice types here and unfortunately, a great proportion of what they believe and say is just good, old-fashioned prudery, judgementalism, and Puritanical panty-sniffing dressed up in new language like "problematic," "toxic," "inappropriate," "sexual assault," etc. There is nothing new under the sun.
Best thing to do if one is not going to ignore them is to keep asking questions about WHY they believe what they believe, ask for supporting information, etc. which they don't have because it doesn't exist.
My god, gay or straight, age-gap romance has been around since human-kind began stumbling around the planet. And it is often a beautiful thing. These people are nuts.
I think they wanted to show the importance of communication, even if they were on opposing ends if both of them…
How hard is it to say "Oh, you're a student? I'm a policeman." Also, telling a new acquaintance or lover especially, what you do as aa profession is just standard small talk. Yet we're to believe it never came up during this all this time they spent together? Yeah, right. Bad writing. Baldly manufactured conflict. Yes, Vic had bad intentions: of keeping his job a secret ON PURPOSE. I don't propose to tell you WHY he did it because this film doesn't provide that information, but it's also unrealistic that Xavier wouldn't have ASKED what he did. What would Vic have said? "I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you?" lol Pretty film. Lousy script and the screaming thing is just stupid.
Only 5 minutes into the film and I was already blown away by the absolutely stunning cinematography! Beautiful…
To me, the relationship was still in that "body-heat" early period when all you want to do is f**k and bask in your feels for each other and the magic than comes with it. Vic is manipulative af for not telling Xiang what his job is. I mean, what's up with that?
