Yup. Everyone acts (even his friends) as if Pete is the bad guy here while Kao isn't without fault. I felt that…
Someone posted on YouTube: Kao is the perfect boyfriend, brother son. REALLY??!!! I'm so annoyed by him. A big coward with puppy eyes and a halo on his head who makes everyone else feel like shit. Great guy for sure.
Yup. Everyone acts (even his friends) as if Pete is the bad guy here while Kao isn't without fault. I felt that…
"He acts as if he's disgusted by Pete's touch even when they're alone. Which probably stems from him being so deep in the closet." Don't think this has anything to do with being in the closet. They have sex etc. It's just a poor choice by the director. Reminds me of those early Thai series like Make It Right, where they were talking about sex like it's nothing and then had some very innocent lip pecks. It just didn't make sense to me. No need to be too explicit, but this is just strange. I always compare this show to Together With Me Next Chapter. Korn&Knock didn't kiss for most of the series either, but it was obvious why. There were some cute scenes (I remember that cute shoulder kiss) and the chemistry was right the whole time. DBK is just depressing and almost uncomfortable to watch.
Many people, myself included, were commenting that the writing is not that good, and that the show basically had…
Well, I loved the beginning like I loved the middle part of Trapped. It really feels sometimes as if different writers are working on the script. The bullying plot was well done, because there were no bad and good guys like it's normally the case. This was about a situation that got out of hand and nobody really wanted that. Very serious, very heart wrenching, very unfortunate, very real. Then Hao Ting felt in love so suddenly which I never liked. I lost interest when that cheesy romance started to kick in. I don't care about the sad end that much, but it just adds to the messy writing and so the overall impression of the story is even more chaotic than it was before.
Sorry, but this is just a mess. It started out as a rather serious series with some silly, but interesting humor, then it became a VERY cheesy love story with some NSFW scenes thrown into it and now this. I think when you tell a story it's important that there is some kind of balance. If you write a drama, don't make it too silly. If you write a comedy, don't make it too dark. MODC was just all over the place from the very beginning. And Trapped was EXACTLY THE SAME. Silly police officers, silly BL scenes, mixed with rather heavy topics. No idea who is writing those series, but they have to do a better job. The actors are good, the music and production is okay, just look for better writers.
You are so mistaking....the scropt is sope opera and New is a good actor, he is maybe not the best but he is still…
Don't get me wrong I love New. And I wouldn't have liked the Pete&Kao couple if not for him. HE made that couple so special for me by playing a "bottom" so differently. He was really something else. In DBK he plays the most boring and unlikable bottom you can imagine. I would have NEVER gotten into that couple if the character would have been like this from the beginning. In Kiss The Series he was also very different. Nerdy and insecure. They know reinvented him three times. The script is horrible, yes, but really .... just show us another look on your face for once ...
Actually it's not even BL so......And good looking actors? Well that's sure is true but you can't go and tell…
Everyone is gushing over those two boys, it's apparently based on a BL novel, people are saying "It's the best chemistry ever witnessed in every couple ever" – but sure, it's not BL.
lol Yeah sure we only watch because of the good looks and BL subtext... No seriously, I'm past puberty, thanks…
"... but assuming that people who enjoyed this are only drooling over beautiful actors or BL subtext is ridiculous and could be considered rude..."
It's the truth and people don't like to hear it. That's nothing new. Go to YouTube and see how everyone is gushing over those two guys. I'm no stranger to the BL genre. I'm into it for almost 20 years. I KNOW BL fans very well since a was writing BL stories years ago. And I know how people will defend a series and be very passionate about it, because they love the relationship between two boys, even though they say it's sooo much more when in fact they wouldn't be that interested without the BL subtext. Delusion at it's best. The acting ... exaggerated facial expressions though I must say I have seen worse. But it doesn't feel very natural. Like in some fantasy historical Korean Dramas everything is rather cheesy, but here they take it to another level with the cinematography. I know Chinese Drama are cheesy in general, apparently there are people out there who like it this way and aren‘t aware of the cheesiness or define it differently. Because if that's NOT cheesy, I don't know what's considered to be. The production ... those wigs? The hairline is completely messed up. And those wounds? I mean ... really. The make up artist wasn't the most talented that's for sure. I watched the first episode 3 times with my attention drifting away again and again. I made it until ep 3. People say I have to watch to ep 10. I don't have 10 hours of my life to waste unfortunately. Other series have to show what they got in the FIRST episode. Really disappointed in this one. I lost some trust in humanity seeing that it's higher rated than "My Mister".
If you are new to Chinese dramas, The Untamed is for sure not to watch as it contains many metaphors which translated…
I watched some Chinese movies and I have seen Koran historical fantasy dramas like "Gu Family Book" and some others. I'm not a complete stranger to the genre, but the Chinese take it to another level for sure. This is so exaggerated in every aspect. I must also admit that I don't find the actors appealing at all. But my taste in men may be a bit different. I like very expressive people and a good (deep) script. And I cannot find both in The Untamed. People are saying you have to watch more episode. How many? 10 or 15? Other series are only 15 (or less) episodes long! The two boys seem to falling in the typical BL cliche: the one is serious and stiff, and the other one more playful and outgoing. I have seen that countless times since I watch BL for over 10 years now. This show has a higher rating than "My Mister". If I think about a character/actor that got to me on an emotional level than it's Lee Sun Kyun who played the lead role in said drama. I'm 100% convinced that The Untamed audience is 97% female with most viewers not being over 25 years old and all of them avid BL lovers.
You should know that it is a low budget production and despite that, they did a BEAUTIFUL job because they stayed…
I can clearly see it's low budget. Those wigs? And those fake wounds? I have seen small YouTubers doing better Halloween make up. No hate, just saying.
Why would people give this drama high score just bc bl subtext when no other actual bl drama been rated this high....
Everywhere I go I see people gushing over those two boys saying things like "the best chemistry ever", "better than in any BL drama" etc. It also seems it's based on a BL novel. There is really NO DOUBT that this series is popular because of the BL content. I watched some vids on YouTube to get a better understanding what's this all about – it's ONLY about those two guys.
They made the novel’s plot a lil better, but New’s acting is just...Some episodes didn’t demand a lot from…
Exactly. I cannot watch him anymore and I loved him in KMA. I just want to punch him in the face when he appears on the screen. That dull expression is terrible.
Since the beginning I said "It's not entirely New's fault, the script is dull", but even with this kind of script, he could do better. Don't know why he thought playing the character the way he did was a good idea. I blame him for ruining this series.
The story is all over the place. XHT falling in love so suddenly with YXG is the biggest weakness of the whole…
I'm just not a fan of the "suddenly falling in love with no reason and feeling something I have never never felt before". No idea why it bothers me so much in this series. It's not like it's different in other BLs. But here I thought several times "Why are those guys into each other again?" I'm pretty sure the reason why this pairing doesn't work for me is XHTs character. He is so over the top, behaves like a giggling school girl ... I just couldn't warm up to him until the end.
Just wondering, did u finish watching all the ep or just at some point in the middle?
I'm at the very beginning and I'm pretty new to Chinese drama. I like the imagery/cinematography, because it's somehow captivating and not that common, but at the same time it's extremely cheesy to the point where I don't know if I should be stunned or laughing out loud ...
Well, so I'm not alone. People should just be honest and not so defensive about it.
