Title HIStory3: Trapped Spoiler
YES YES YES... for all them who have every questioned Shao Fei's integrity: THAT SMALL BUT IMPORTANT SCENE before…
In asian dramas it's pretty common that everything is supposed to be a bit silly and childish when in reality I'm pretty sure their workplaces are very strict. It's such a strict society anyways, maybe that's why they portray their characters (and the work places) like that. The police seems a bit stupid, but I don't care. This show is not supposed to be taken too serious. That Shao Fei is the most competent of all of them was not surprising LOL.

If the intimate scenes will be good, the popularity of this series will go through the roof LOL! There are so many great fan vids out there and the series didn't even finish ...

Ok so this might be a little long. First of all I wanted to start off by saying that I am OBSESSED with this soooo…
Objectively speaking the pace is perfect. But this is a show to binge watch. When you have to wait a week for new episodes, it's really painful. I wish 3 episodes a week would air (like at the beginning), so we could have more scenes to drool over LOL. It would make the wait much easier.

If I hadn't seen some spoiler scenes, I would think those two will never get it on. Like NEVER LOL. The pace is killing me.

There will always be criticism. In general it seems like this series is pretty popular. The reactions online (especially YouTube) are all very enthusiastic. I enjoy it, that's all I care for. If we want an Oscar worthy performance and script, then we have to look somewhere else anyways. The thing is, like I wrote earlier, BL fans are hard to please. I make a living with my writing. Writing crime stories and hetero stories (which I do now) is much easier. People complain less. Write a good story and it's done. When it comes to BL you have to insert some cliches to make people happy. There is such a crazy BL fandom worldwide with such rigid ideas how a good BL story should be like .. sigh.

the show is good, but the only bad point of it is how shao fei's character was created. he's an adult, a cop,…
I must admit, that criticism regarding Shao Fei surprises me a lot. He is such a goofy character (that's how he was written), but in which way was he behaving infantile? That camera scene was funny and meant to piss Tang Yi off. Yes, when it comes to him, he can be childish. But he saved his life (when they were running together), he got hurt, because he protected him in that car (he is very quick with his reactions), later on in the mountains he had a fever and could barely stand, but he was saying he was okay and got up immediately. This guy is pretty tough. He can get emotional (especially if it's about the mysterious case when his senior was shot), but he is reliable and not stupid. He takes his work very serious too. I could understand if you don't like Kenny, which in my eyes is really behaving like a 10 years old, but Shao Fei? I wonder how the series progresses, but at the moment I'm assuming he is the one in this relationship who offers comfort and stability. I can be wrong though. We will see.

Yup, been replaying it since it was posted ???? Their playfulness and adorableness is killing me ????
Their off-screen-chemistry is really great. They seem to genuinely like each other. You get the impression that those two are in real life very sensitive and nice people.

This HIStory has action, comedy and romance! It couldn't be better.
And cool characters too.

Boundary Crossing was a typical young-boys-fall-in-love-series. I rated it with a solid 10 on this site (well deserved!) But come on! The fujoshi part was a bit stupid, the love happened very fast (Fandy was suddenly head over heels for Zack and eager to show him his feelings), the background of the second couple (step brothers) was a bit controversial, their casting was not the best either (for me it was obvious that Patrick was younger even though he played the older brother), other characters like those twins had no real purpose, some intimate scenes between the main (and the second) couple felt unnatural and cheesy. Even though I liked Fandy a lot, I must say his tears didn't reach me. The series as a whole wasn't really that deep. The music was the best ever though. The production values seemed very high.

A series like "Trapped" is harder to process, you have to be patient. Still I'm confident the series will gain many fans. There are 12 more episodes and the chemistry between the main lead is really, really good. After "Obsession" we know chemistry and love scenes decide about the popularity of a BL series. I loved Teddy and Bernard in "Obsession" (and even more in real life), but the story was such a mess and one of the worst I have ever seen. Still BL fans go crazy over it. When good love scenes kick in, the criticism will vanish immediately. I loved Boundary Crossing from the first couple of minutes, but everyone and his dog was saying Zach and Fandy had NO chemistry (though I saw it immediately that they were good together). After that kiss (which I didn't expect in a million years) everyone was suddenly "the chemistry is incredible!". This is how it works. The Fandy/Zach chemistry off screen is not as good as Chris/Jake chemistry though. I really wonder how good their intimate scenes will be. I have no idea what to expect.

Title HIStory3: Trapped Spoiler
My Taiwanese friend said this has got many bad reviews from the fans of HIStory 2 in Taiwan and China. They have…
It's hard to please BL fans. I know. I wrote BL stories years ago and I'm so glad I don't do that anymore. The fanbase is toxic. Hypocrites. Let them have some (romantic!) out-of-this-world-sex-scenes and everyone will be happy. I too think there are a lot of things to criticize about "Trapped", but there are other things that are well done, new and exciting. It's not like History 2 was perfect (or the History series before). "Obsession" had such a strange story, "My hero" was even stranger (could this even be considered BL?) and "Right or Wrong" just didn't click "right" with me. "Boundary Crossing" was the best until now, but the pacing was rushed and the story much simpler. Not to mention that the second couple was just there for fan service. Try something new and difficult and people will come at you. Do the same stuff over and over again and they will love it.

Talking about "Trapped": I'm not a fan of the behavior of the cops either. I especially dislike the second couple, they ridicule the whole gangster-police story and make it not credible. They also could have speeded up the storytelling a bit in the first two episode. The beginning is too slow. It took me 4 episodes to get into it. But who cares? There are many other things I like: Tany Yi's character, Shao Fei's dorky personality that goes well with it; the pace of their relationship that shows us how they fall in love slowly; the rather major behavior of the main characters (they really have some good dialogues and interactions you don't see often in BL; Shao Fei's boldness is refreshing); the tension between them; the good acting (especially Chris Wu's who shows us one of the best acting I have ever seen in any BL series); some of the action scenes are pretty well done too if you consider the low budget;

Overall I think this would have been really, really great if they had made some minor changes: better production, better music (though I love the ending song), less fan service (no second couple; no everyone-and-his-dog-is-gay-and-after-Tang-Yi-cliche), more straight forward storytelling (they beat around the bush too much regarding the case 4 years ago); more consistent story; But this is a low budget show after all, so I sure will not complain and bring the show down. Until now it's my favorite of all the History series.

I have seen some shows where they have to play those funny and embarrassing games. No shyness between the main actors. Really NONE. I have high hopes now :P

On HIStory3: Trapped May 2, 2019
Was there ever a BL like this? With such main characters? They are both well written, no uke/seme cliche. Both can fight and Shao Fei is very straight forward and not an idiot despite his dorky behavior. Tang Yi on the other side is pretty vulnerable. The way this relationship develops is also unique. They somehow manage to include typical BL scenes without making them too cheesy. Not to mention that there is a REAL story behind it (it's not only about love). The cast includes older characters and mature actors who do a pretty good job. I feel like this is the right direction to go in the future. I just hope they don't mess it up.

So the guy Shao Fei thought with at the end of ep8, Tang Yi's underling, is also into his boss? In which episode did we discover that? I'm lost here. I thought he had something to do with the attack on Tang Yi. Wasn't he behaving suspicious while on the phone? In that scene when Jack overheard what he said?
