I agree with you!
But I personally believe it is not the quality of the dramas and the stories / characters that causes this, rather it is our maturing in our Kdrama journey. We have been through a lot of dramas and seen a lot of characters, and the more we watch the more it becomes harder to appreciate any drama easily. The same goes with any type of art, like reading novels for instance.
Also, the old ones we watched when we were somewhat drama novices (>_-) will always carry that vibe of excitement that will mostly never fade, and whenever we re-watch them we kind of relive the experience all over again (or at least to a certain extent)
I have the opposite experience though, dramas that I totally loved first time i watched them and always carried fond memories of , and upon re-watching I just regretted I ever did! Oh my God, how I start to question who I was back then and how on earth I ever enjoyed that :D
A lot of other aspects also play a role, changes in preference, mood, character...

I would definitely recommend you start with Stranger and maybe give My mister a try..trust me you won't regret it ;)

Review Dr. Romantic
Pas mal comme drama
I am sorry I am not sure of what your comment exactly means, but if it something along the lines of "the drama wasn't that bad" as I guess it does, then let me just tell you that I totally agree with you and I that actually wrote this review months after I finished watching the drama, so naturally the negative aspects are the ones that stuck with me and my review ended up kind of nitpicking ????

Thanks a lot for the list..
I have a lot of old japanese dramas on my to watch list, so I have yet to think of adding any other drama to it :D
Just a tiny comment, 沈黙法廷 is romanized Chinmoku Houtei not Hotel. Think the word moght have automatically corrected that one ;D

Another user pointed out the same thing. It's weird, but you might be right - they thought it would be lame…
I specialize in Japanese for a decade now, so I know it means a 100 million, but as you know there is no rule to drama title translations, the producer here made the right choice, because the number does not refer to an amount of money that needed to be accurate, rather it just refers to a large number of stars, so he chose to express it in the way that suits each culture best.
I bet when the Korean Drama comes out and they choose to print a translated title, they will definitely go with "Million" :D
Ceki Oct 4, 2017
Nice article!!
One small comment, the Japanese drama "Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no hoshi" 's official english title is actually not an accurate translation. The unit "oku" equals 100 million, but I guess they thought it would sound lame, and to say a million in japanese it will be "sen man" (=a thousand 10thousand) which also sounds even more lame I guess
So the Korean drama's translation is actually more correct

Do Bong Soon came out after this drama
Sorry. Lately I have been watching dramas without knowing their exact airing time. I watched DBS first so I thought it was older.
Anyhow, I know this is supposed to be a slice of life drama and coming of age, but it was too much slow with the plot tooo uneventful, and it certainly didn't give the feel of a coming of age at all. Just my opinion ????

I am dropping this at the 4th episode, nut you're simply summing the reasons up. I am honestly amazed how so many people gave it such high scores even worse calling it "perfect!!! Come on, however you say the otp have hreat chemistry and are a cute couple, there's a limit to how much such an aspect can carry a drama, it can give a lacking drama a push to be really fun to watch (like in the case with Strong Woman Do Bongsoon) but can bot salvage such a mess of random bland interactions of a drama.

Great Article.
Of course the hero of censorship is knifes, cigarettes getting blurred is a new info. Do they sincerely think that blurring up a lighted cigarette can help reduce consumption???!!
As for the tatoos, I can live with a real tattoo of a k-pop artist getting censored like the pic you attached above, but I can never understand censoring up a tattoo that was inserted as make-up on an actor's body for the sake of the role!!! (I am looking at you cruel City) Why bother do it when it when it will get censored anyway???!!!
Good work on the article, keep it up.

Review My Lovely Sam Soon Spoiler
While I've been going through your reviews and agreeing with most of them (even of shows I have not watched) I could not more disagree with you on your review of MNKSS.
I can understand that watching classic dramas that have formed some hype back in the day can be quite challenging (whether Korean on Japanese ones) so I don't blame you if you couldn't fathom what's so great about the show it was that popular, since different times produce different tastes and different trends. I personally enjoyed this drama, hated a certain arc near the end (when it was all about getting pregnant to force the mom to agree to their relationship) but I still loved the OTP, their chemistry, the plot, the character developments, and above all the ending which I found very convincing and well-balanced. It is much more convincing to me than a perfect happy ending, although I admit I was a bit shocked and disappointed at first, but after giving it enough thinking, and later on re-watching the show I came to really appreciate it.
I hate makjang elements and admit they can really destroy a great show, but I still sometimes after rethinking over a drama that I enjoyed, recognize several makjang-ish tropes but still find them superficial and not deadly to overthrow the scale of my experience from like to hate.
But some makjang-haters like us fall in a trap where instead of avoiding makjang, they somehow end up watching dramas with their radar on for them, kind of expecting to find them, so once they detect a sense of makjangness they shun away from the show either dropping it altogether or watching with a suspicious eye that prevents them from enjoying the fun. Hope you have not fallen in this trap.

Thanks for the reviews ;)

I never considered watching the show in the first place, but I enjoyed reading your review and for some reason could really relate to every point you described, maybe coz most of the negative points you mentioned are portrayed in other Kdramas so I am so used to them by now, but yet always experiencing the same frustration you portray in your review.
That seems to have been a waste of precious 16 hours, better go watch a good drama as a remedy :)

The best amnesia is in "Falling for Innocence" When the main guy pretends to have amnesia and his assistant…
I was just about to write the same thing!!!! Good thing your comment was the last so I got to read it.
that scene was simply epic, non-koreandrama-addicts would not relate to it like we do :D

Title I'm Home
Long time ago I was a hard-core KimuTaku fan, but lately he's been starring in all of these sh**ty dramas like…
Thanks a lot for the helpful reply. I'm also so glad to know people agree woth me. Before he used to choose dramas that even f the character kindky seemed of similar nature still the plot and script would help him give out a slightly different aura. Lately though even if the character background is different they all come down to the same thing. I was so disappointed with his latest drama ando lloyd in particular (see my review for more) but I was more frustrated becausI was attracted to his scientist role (the human) and it seemed interesting and somewhat different from his charismatic roles, to the extent I found his attire and hair style and everything not fitting but still wanted to see more of it.
OK since everyone seems to agree te story is favorable I might be giving this a try. Thanks again

I think maybe the director finds it easier than showing the screen with the shutting down sign (most times includes the brand name), and they want to show how the person is super annoyed/busy etc, that he just barely avoids throwing the phone out the window so he resorts to taking off the battery :D
That, or maybe the signal (the sound the phone makes on the caller side) differs in Korea between simply turning off or taking out the batter ;)

Title I'm Home
Long time ago I was a hard-core KimuTaku fan, but lately he's been starring in all of these sh**ty dramas like Brain, Tsuki no Koibito, Priceless, Ando lloyd, and even though one of my favorite dramas of his was HERO, I add HERO 2 to the list. I even feel his acting too has been taking a kind of a down slope, simply because it nearly never changes....might be coz all the characters he's been playing lately all feel similar; the idealistic heroes & good guys. So I was thinking, the guy should consider seriously choosing a more compelling, maybe dark character which has more angles and deepness to it. He needs to play something different or else he will be forgotten and his star will fade very soon.
My question to anyone who agrees with the above and is watching I'm Home, could this project be a savior? Should I give it a try (I know it's been only 2 eps now, but I believe for Jdoramas 3~4 eps. is enough to decide)

Although it's not necessarily one of my favorites, but the famous scene in Gaksital were kimura shunji cries his eyes out on the shoulder of his pal Kang to riding the bicycle is one of the scenes that comes to mind.

I don't think they should make a big deal out of this. There are lots of movies based on multiple personality…
The tittle Jekyll and hyde is a pun to the 1886 R L Stevendon Novella "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" which has been featured many times in different media.

I was thinking of giving this drama a go especially with all the buzz it's making, but now when I saw the recommendations…
Thanks! I've decided to add it to my PtW list ;)
