Hey! I just read your review of Cruel City and OH did you speak my mind regarding every point you mentioned
I also liked the ending but found the final shot totally unnecessary.
P.S. I like your favorites btw

Hi there!!! Thanks a lot for the friend reqiest ;-) Manal from Egypt, nice to meet you.
You seem to be relatively new to the drama addiction, it's good you discovered MDL so early on the road, coz now you can get recommendations easily.
If you want any recommendations for good shows either Japanese or Korean just ask me, I'll be delighted to help.

I checked afterwards and yes the script was written at first so that he survives the shot and gets a new identity under soo's name (hehehe) and a plane ticket by hyung min's help, him choosing to leave deceiving both jin sook and soo min in thinking that he was dead coz of his belief that as long as he's there both of them will never be happy.
They decided to change the ending into a more heroic one so they supposedly chose to make him die, all good up till now and I personally totally congratulate them on their choice, but what the hell was the need for the final shot?! Why give the viewers a fake & meaningless anticipation, they seem to have a vision in choosing this ending rather than the one planned at first, if so then they should have sticked to that vision till the end!!!
I loved that this drama never yielded to what most viewers wish for in a melodrama (like more angst and love scenes between the male & female leads) coz they knew that would ruin the noir atmosphere of the drama. Despite all that the final scene honestly felt like it was either one of two things, a fan service for JKH fans, or a means to absorb the viewers' rage coz of the sad ending (I hear they can sometimes rain the script writer with threat messages and all)

All that being said, I enjoyed the drama especially after watching the whole thing and absorbing the whole picture nicely.

Hahahahahaha EXACTLY!!
You spoke my mind!!!

Bas fe3lan tamseel el batal kan to7fa!!! La yosaf! Bezzat mashahed elly kan bey3ayyat feha, he doesn't fear looking uncool or lame crying like a little child.
El momassela fe3lan mostafezza with her fake lips and freaky circular black lenses we el make up el over. Her acting?! I didn't even pay attention to her since I was too occupied with paksa <3

My favorite scene in the whole drama was the scene were auntie jin sook hugged him & congratulated him and he cried his eyes out in her arms. EPIC!!

HI!!
lessa me5allasa cruel city! EIH DAH!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the drama, it's got a super interesting plot and a bunch of intriguing characters, and it's got some good action and also melo and romance all mixed up nicely, but to be honest with you, ana kont batfarrag mo3zam el wa2t we ana mesh mesadda2a el la5bata elly el kateb kan 3ammal ye3melha be el kessa el gamda de. You're welcome and nice to meet you too Chingu!
I just finished Cruel City aka Heartless City. A bit confused and a bit frustrated. I might be writing my review to arrange my thoughts.
Since you have it as your favorite, can I ask you honestly; where you convinced with the execution of this epic plot?! Didn't you find the story and all it's complicated relations too much hard to follow. I may have loved the idea and the main plot and also liked the message the drama tried to deliver, but come on!!! there was just too much inconsistencies and ridiculousness to swallow!
I would love to hear your view of the drama, and also the ending (I personally like to think it's no open end, but other people on the internet like to interpret it as such)

You won't definitely be disappointed with GD, I guarantee you.
It goes without saying I hated 7th Level, and above all I was so disappointed in Joo Won for taking on that stupid drama. One of the reasons I kept watching that one till the end was to enjoy reading dramabeans' recaps on it ;)))
He does a GREAT job in Good Doctor, and the drama is quite good too! Give it a try and tell me ;)

I cried a lot watching GD's finale, laughed a lot too, especially the cameo (SUPER CUTE those two) it was so nice seeing them together.

I tend to decide whether a K-drama deserves the time or not only after I've watched 3~4 episodes, while in J-dramas' case 2 I believe is enough. So I intend to continue watching until I can be sure whether I like it or not. But now I remember there's one K-drama that I gave up on after just 2 episodes (and I was fighting to finish the 2nd) It was "Marry me Mary" that was super stupid and meaningless.

Like you I just finished Good Doctor and LOVED it.
I started Cruel City, but it's too dark for my tastes, besides it's a bit complicated on the character-side, not sure if I'll be watching it till the end.
I'm thinking of starting Shut Up Flower Boy Band.

It's great yous speak Japanese, Keep it UP!! I'm trying to learn Korean now because it's SOOOO much fun to watch dramas you understand the words.

"I'm not sure if jdrama or kdrama is nearer to my taste because my taste changes depending on my mood." >> The same here!
"I prefer my slice-of-life dramas to be Japanese" >> WOW you speak my mind.
and I would add, "I prefer romance comedies to be Korean", they're just so gooood at that genre. Also Korean fantasy dramas are much more interesting, well I rarely watch any fantasy J-dramas (only one that comes to mind is Kaibutsu-kun which was a bit silly for my tastes)

OK, maybe I'll watch it after I'm finished with Cruel City.
you can check my favorites, there seems to be a couple you haven't watched.
I can sense you prefer melodramas, but unfortunately I might not be able to help much in that field :S
I noticed you have City Hall on your PTW list, you can give it a try. Also I like Good Doctor, & the finale has just aired in Korea so you can safely start watching now ;-)

ma3rafsh el kanawat deh, we maleesh feha sara7a. I prefer to watch media on my PC because I can choose the resolution that fits my tastes and also control the subtitles, besides I can always re-watch my favorites.
As for streaming, I just HATE watching online, might be coz I have a slow internet connection at home, but it just so frustrating to think that I'm actually downloading the video but still not saving it.

I'll be glad to give you recommendations:
Which do you watch mainly; Korean or Japanese?
Which is your favorite genre, and favorite actor/actress?

This can help me decide which drama MIGHT suit your taste (coz it's all about tastes you know)

It was my second time watching something for So ji Sub, the first being the movie "Rough Cut", though at the time I watched it for Kang Ji Hwan, SJS also grabbed my attention.

I was thinking of watching another drama of his, "What Happened in Bali" was already on PTW and lately I thought I could give "Ghost" a try since I'm a fan of detective & crime dramas.
So what are his best dramas in your opinion (other than "Sorry I love you" coz I'm not into Makjang Melos + I read the synopsis full with the ending already)
