Welcome to MDL =D
One little advice, comments on MDL don't support any letters other than latin ones, i.e. Neither Chinese not Arabic will appear.

GREAT ARTICLE~
I agree with your list (well at least the ones I know)
But since I'm currently watching Protect the Boss, and found this article tagged I thought you'd have mentioned Cha Ji Heon and was a bit disappointed you instead mentioned Mu Won....Ji Heon's far more cuter imo =)

What a coincidence that we talk about Jaejoong ;-)
I'm currently watching Protect the Boss where he plays the second male lead.
PTB was not on my PTW list, and I never thought I'd be watching it especially with all the other dramas I need to be watching, but for the first time I read a recap of 5 episodes of a drama and then decided that reading was not enough!
The whole thing started when I found multiple people on MDL speaking highly of female antagonist's role in PTB (Wang Ji Hye) and how cute she was, that I felt curious to know what kind of a character it is, so I googled for a recap of the show and found this blog
http://koalasplayground.com/tag/protect-the-boss/
After reading up to episode 5 I decided to watch, and I did, I just finished marathoning the 5 of them and will be watching the rest tomorrow ;-)

Sorry for the late reply ><
I don't remember too well what where the criticisms, but I remember it mostly evolved around the script, they thought the scriptwriter made use of at-that-time budding popularity of the twitter phenomenon to try and attract viewers, what they thought was that the idea of making people meeting via twitter seemed a bit unrealistic, it did to me too.
Now you reminded, I too didn't like the doctor's character at all, plus I hated Jae Joong and his Korean-ish Japanese accent to death, the love triangle was anything but interesting coz I never felt he made any rival to Eita.
As for tonbi, I have only watched the first episode, it seems nice but I have yet to tell since ep.1 was still making way for the background story. It's a favorite genre of mine family dramas, but I have the feeling I'm more in the mood for romcoms right now so I'm thinking of putting it off and viewing something else in the meantime

Article Next Generation
WoW what a marvelous article, very well-written and your lists cover all the possible stars one can think of *thumbs up*
I particularly loved your futuristic look to how these stars' popularities will develop similar to currently popular ones, though sometimes such high expectations can cause disappointments ;-)
Reading your article, I was reminded of a Japanese article I read recently on KStyle that discussed the issue with the most famous young (20s) male actors in the field right now stating they were; 1) Song Joong Ki 2) Kim Soo Hyun 3) Ah In, and expressed their speculations as to the next possible choices for producers in light of the SJK's 2-years military service and in case the next two turned down a role. The article sated how scriptwriters sometimes write a story just for one of those 3 in mind, and how it's been a while since such talented young actors gained such popularity.
I started to notice then and now on reading your article how the current young actors (both male & female) in Korea do have quite the age gap between them and their previous generation. That might be one of the main reasons why Korean Drama's stories nowadays explored new and unique zones, which on a closer look you'll notice might be coz the main roles in such stories required a young and highly talented actor(ess) which was an unavailable option for quite some time.
The increase of young talents seems to not only help increase the popularity of the Korean wave, it also seems to open up more possibilities for unique dramas!

I rarely skip any scenes save for especially boring dramas with a lot of meaningless scenes (like the parent's scenes in 7th Level Civil servant) or extra-long thinking scenes/ or repetitive flashbacks. I tend to be patient with the whole episode and still manage to watch 4~5 eps or even more at one go, that's what makes me spend too much time without realizing so when I finally come to my senses 5 hours have passed!!!
But you do have a point, when only this week's episode is available one tends to treasure it more, sometimes even re-watching certain scenes just for the sake of watching ;-)

Glad you liked Sunao ni Narekute, it had an interesting plot but as I said there were some hard-to-swallow parts and a bunch of weird characters, also read quite some criticism from Japanese people online after watching it that might be why I didn't fancy the thing much. But I remember I liked most of the lead's acting (esp. Eita and Ueno Juri) also remember crying very hard when that gayish guy died :-( only later to be surprised at the sudden happy ending coz I wasn't honestly expecting it :D

While it's believed studying languages is always easier the more younger you start it, but believe me it's never too late ;-)

I'm glad to hear you're aiming to reach an advanced level in Japanese, to me it was not just a major at college it was and still is also a hobby, an addiction and I hope someday a profession.
I studied in Chiba University in Chiba-ken right east of Tokyo. Living there was indeed one of the most valuable experiences of my life and the most worthwhile educational wise as well. It's a marvelous country and people, going there makes one all the more glad he decided to learn the language :-)
Wish for you to go there again someday ^_^

I see you're not enjoying 2 weeks.
I rarely drop any dramas after starting it, especially if I've already downloaded the whole thing with a batch torrent I find it a waste to not watch them all, so mostly shows that I drop are ones that I was downloading episode by episode.
I don't necessarily prefer marathoning through dramas, but for some reason I find KDramas are best watched at one go, not sure why but it's not about magnificent cliff-hangers or anything, rather it feels waiting a week makes one get out of the mood of the drama and the attachment you managed to develop towards the characters. Does any of this make any sense.
Empire of Gold I've never heard of it before. Hope you're liking it

Hi & Thanks for accepting my friend request!
Two years seem soo lpong don't you agree.
I've watched Sunao ni narekute before, nice JDrama but there were some silly things about the plot that I didn't like very much, but over all it was fine.
Cruel City is on my PTW list, I'm getting recommendations to watch it and I notice the positive reviews. How are you finding them?

Hi Leah! Thanks a lot for adding me ^_^
I can see on your profile that you're of Japanese / German / Irish / Norwegian origin, how cool is that?!!! So how many of these languages can you speak? I'm a bit of a language mania ;-)
I'm from Egypt, of Egyptian origin (Pretty boring right?), have never been outside Egypt except studying abroad in Japan for a year.
Nice to meet you =)

I have a feeling I'll be dropping Bad Family soon too, though I've watched up till ep. 12!!! The story is interesting but there's a serious problem with the story-telling and the character development.
I'm dying to watch Master's Sun and find Good Doctor's plot to be super interesting too, but I guess I'll be waiting until they've both finished airing so I can Dramathon through them to my heart's content =D
hmmmm, two weeks?...well, I'm not such an action fan to be honest, prefer just the right amount of thriller...besides I'm not that fond of Lee Jun Ki, well I haven't watched any of the dramas he played the lead role in, just My Girl.
There seems to have been quite the expectations regarding two weeks, is it that good?

Love Your article. I agree with the whole list, but in particular points (1), (4) & (5) describe some effects…
EXACTLY!!
sometimes it's an "Ooops" but sometimes it's "well, I found THAT specific point charming/cute/funny!"
I find myself laughing at such reviews, but to be honest negative reviews that speak my mind make me laugh even more. It's soooo nice to know that there's someone out there who felt exactly the same regarding a drama.

Currently I'm watching a KDrama called Bad Family, it's not bad but still not my type, it's super funny but the story has a few plot-holes.
I intend to watch Jdorama Tonbi next in shaa Allah, hope by the time I'm finished I can start watching the currently airing Korean dramas that I'm dying to watch (Master's Sun & Good Doctor)
So what have you been watching lately?

Love Your article.
I agree with the whole list, but in particular points (1), (4) & (5) describe some effects drama addiction made on me.
(1) being the most I appreciate, and reading your article just made me discover that. Ever since I started watching Japanese dramas and later Korean and I became more open for different opinions other than my own, I even enjoy reading negative comments of my favorite dramas, to have a laugh at maybe some silly parts that I didn't notice and have a subjective look at the whole drama, my love to the drama may have blinded me after all.

Thanks for the fun article, and please do write more! Fighting ;-)
