I can't understand anything anymore too.
All I know is that politics is a nasty thing!! Every one works only for their own interests. And the people are the ones to pay the price.
I pray that someday we will look back to these days and render them as steps that built a better state and better life.
Thanks for your concern dear sister <3

Thanks a lot for asking :)
Nothing is OK in Egypt :( But I'm fine don't worry.^^
Everyone's feeling down, a lot of turmoil, people getting killed and night demonstrations despite the curfew. It's just a big mess.
Wishing everything to somehow settle soon, know it's hard mission though.
Hope everything is fine over there :)

I understand what you mean by not being able to enjoy shows like BOF after watching many dramas. Even the Japanese version which was my first J-Dorama, when I tried later to re-watch I felt it ruined my first impression and wished I hadn't re-watched it, but re-re-watching it with my sister later it was better =)

Thanks a lot for your recommendation. Lee Min Ho seems to be very popular here on MDL so I was starting to get curious. I'll try watching CH later and will definitely tell you of my impressions then.

BTW, I totally AGREE with your advice of watching at least 3~4 episodes of a Korean drama before deciding. While in J-Doramas' case 2 episodes if not 1 I believe is more than enough to decide.

As usual I LOVE your articles Amrita!!
You grabbed my attention to something too when you mentioned how most of the list is J-Dramas, come to think of it most Korean dramas that involve a romantic substance tend to settle things nicely and in a clear manner with no open ends and such. But saying that does not mean that I hate J-Dramas coz they sometimes do things differently (like the ones in your list) on the contrary a bit of imagination and anticipation is not always bad.
I haven't watched all the ones on your list, but I admit that if it's a drama which was openly hinting to a romantic development but never showed any, THAT sure must be frustrating!! Other wise if it's just appealing the leads chemistry and stimulating the viewers imagination raising his hopes, only later to end things in an obscure way, that's not necessarily a negative thing, at least for me :D

That's right kanpai in Japanese & geonbae in Korean. ^^
There's also Banzai (hooray) that they say when they celebrate a victory in Japanese, in Korean it's similar "manse"
In fact, It's one of my greatest interests in learning Korean. To think that both languages at a certain time used the same characters but then hangeul was developed and hanja was not used any more but yet the same words with the same pronunciation remained. Though I love Kanji in Japanese a lot, I still have to admit though that I've always wished a genius like the Korean King Sejong could have existed in Japan and invented similar alphabet that could help the language survive without Kanji :D Just a dream hahahahaha

I guessed that one! It was also one of my first "Oh that exactly sounds like the Japanese one!" Korean words that I noticed! =)

thanks to similar jukugo word origins, there are numerous words in both languages with similar pronunciation..
Examples that come to mind are: kankei (relation) & it's equivalent gwangye, also kanjou (feelings) & gamjeong

I'm glad I found someone with the same Asian languages addiction!
unfortunately MDL's comments don't support non-unicode letters in general, so neither Japanese nor Korean appear, it shows as question marks.
You can write them in Romaji or Romanized hangeul I can understand both ;-)

Thanks a lot for adding me Tessa-chan!!

we seem to have a lot of common interests!! I'm sure we'll get along very well ;)
Like you I'm an anything-Japanese addict and lately a bit of a Korean one too.
I've been to Japan too (1 year scholarship), and I'm currently learning Korean on my own using textbooks for Japanese that I asked my Japanese friends to buy me from Japan.

"Because I previously studied Japanese, Korean is a bit easier for me since they have a similar grammar structure">> I totally Agree with what that, and might add similar vocabulary too ;-)

yoroshiku ne!!! ^^

The moment I finished IHYV I knew I'd found another favorite that deserves to be on the top of my favorite KDrama list, just simply loved it.

Well, at first I thought a romance drama needed a totally separate firm story like politics or law or historic ones, but I've found romantic dramas with a fantasy plot quite satisfying if not amusing a lot too like Queen In Hyun's Man for example. That might be coz plots about politics and law could sometimes cause a distraction due to lack of knowledge in those fields.

City Hunter,,,,I keep getting recommendations to watch that one, but problem is I never felt attracted to the plot the least, plus I'm not a big fan of action dramas and movies too.
I have yet to watch Lee Min Ho in a drama (just saw him in a few scenes from BOF), and was thinking I wanted to give one of his dramas a try, would you recommend City Hunter?

You're absolutely right, I admit it does look like a resume =D I wish I can make it feel more friendly but thing is I'm too lazy to create anything more catchy X(

I can understand exactly what you mean, sometimes I start downloading the first few episodes of a currently airing drama and promise myself I wouldn't watch them but I end up watching the moment they've finished downloading.

I was sooo caught up with them, it's been such a while since I started googling pics and youtubing vids after watching a drama, it's a proof how in love I am with it.

HI!!
I have added you if that's ok with you
I like your self introduction a lot and agree with many parts, especially the feeling you get when a parent finds you all absorbed watching a drama. I'm also an addict and a dramathon lover ;-)
I'm so glad you're enjoying the master's sun, I'll probably wait until it's finished airing before I start watching coz I can't stand the wait.
Nice to meet you.
P.S. Can I ask what's the gif with the IHYV leads in a cinema eating popcorn? Don't remember seeing it in the drama.

Article Drama Problems
I have a couple of these, the 2nd 4th and 5th :))
I loved so hard at the Rain Pic :D Hilarious!!
The ninth problem makes great point, it's like a rule in asian dramas that girls fall in love with the bad guy, they even make parodies of that in certain dramas to stress how the good guy has no hope (I can remember the one from the greatest love the best)
Oh, and Please Keep writing!

And WOW, I love your intro.
It makes me feel we have a lot of common things!!
You have a good choice of dramas too, but there's one poster that I can't recognize, it's in the middle with two reaching out their hands to each other, what's that one?
I LOVE your "things i learned from Korean drama" collage, it definitely makes anyone who reads it at least smile if not laugh out :)))

Exactly!!! I loved the flashbacks in IHYV very much.
I liked the cast so much, but I liked the story and the script even more. And what made all that possible was the perfect directing.

Hi Maichan!!!

Thanks a lot for the friend request =) I'm Manal from Egypt.

I like your list of favorite actors ;-)

What are you watching lately?
Replying to hazel321 Aug 4, 2013
I guess I don't follow the actors and actresses enough to be bothered by their ages, it's the characters I'm more…
I know that's not the main point in your conversation, but I was interested to find someone refering to big her.
it's one show I hated too esp. the ending, but imo not showing the couple in the final scene was not from fear the viewer wouldn't live with the age difference, it was rather from fear that viewers will feel awkward seeing the younger version of the main lead in a romantic shot with the female lead & try to convince themselves it the same person she's been in love with. The problem with this drama was mostly a bad writing issue coz I believe that that show had a unique story but unfortunately it was totally ruined :-(

As for BOSS, well I don't remember it too much, coz I watched on TV in Japan & I tend to forget dramas I watch on-line or on TV, but I normally like detective dramas, plus I like Amami Yuki so I liked it over all. though There are more interesting dramas that I would recommend.
I have to wait for your list and check your ratings, thena according to it I can make my recommendations ;-)
Looking forward to it!! =)

WoW, you definitely need to make a list, you seem to have watched all the basic ones (i.e. most popular & classic ones)
CHANGE,,,it's basically a political drama, but it also mixes comedy, human relations, & a bit of romance too. The best thing I liked about it was the unique plot, next the stunning performance (esp, Kimutaku), and also how it enlightened me with a lot of info about the political system in Japan. I watched it when I was in my second year college so I didn't yet know about such stuff, & better than reading it in a book watching it in a drama was more entertaining & sticks to the head ;)
I personally think you should watch Change, it's very popular & if you haven't watched any of Kimura Takuya's shows, I believe it would be a good start.
