when I said they ended up dating I was refering to the Queen In Hyun's Man couple not ItaKiss, sorry for confusing you X/
Hmmm, it's on my to-watch list ever since it started airing, but then the more I read about how melodramatic the story is, the classic type melodrama if you know what I mean, I just feared (as you said) it would be too heavy for my taste. As I wrote in my intro, I prefer romance/comedy with a slice of drama more than pure melo. But it seems everyone who's watched it loved it, so....I might be watching it later.

I've just checked your list & you seem to haven't watched it, but I'm 100% positive that if you ever get to watch 7th Level Civil Servant, it will take 1st place on this list! FOR SURE!
Now there's an 11 year age gap between the two main leads, and there's absolutely no mention of any age differences in the plot.
The two looked their age, and it was near impossible to get convinced there's chemistry between them.

GREAT ARTICLE!
Though a 3 years age difference is nothing in most Asian countries, but I understand you listed them according to your standards.
I didn't watch Cyrano, but WoW those two look like a father & daughter, no! they would be perfect for the role! =)

I loved the moon Embracing the sun, and like you I found the choice of Han Ga In awkward! Now I really want someone to enlighten me with the producer's previous choices & the actresses that turned the role down, coz there's NO WAY she was their first choice.

I haven't watched personal preference though I was thinking of doing so, but I have the feeling you're the first one to say she couldn't swallow the age difference. I don't find them that unbelievable, and an aunt & nephew relation could be realistic provided that the nephew is the son of her 7-years-older sister/brother.
Thanks for the fun article

AGREE!
It's not a rule but creating an adaptation of a shoujo manga into a live drama makes it apt to be unrealistic, like in case of ItaKiss, other than the fact that the Aiharas could have definitely managed to build an new "My Home" during the 2 or so years they've spend at the Irie's, Kotoko's character & how persistent or rather obstinate in her pursuit of love she was, was also a major unrealistic point in the plot. A normal girl would have given up midway, that's if she has enough pride!

But as far as ~Love in Tokyo~ is concerned, I didn't feel Kotoko's persistence was over done & there were very rare situations in which I felt she was like a stalker, on the other hand the Korean version's Ha Ni seems to have surpassed that to unbelievable limits as far as I've read =D

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll sure watch Cruel City!

I do the same!! & Itazura na Kiss I did the same too!! what a coincidence.
I've read that they ended up dating in real life, not sure if it's just to create a propaganda to the show or if it's for real but they seem cute =)
How did you like Missing you btw?

I'm from Egypt as I have stated on my profile. Nice to meet you & Ramadan Kareem ^_~

I see you have watched many, then I think you need to create a watched list & if possible give ratings so I can know which shows you have already watched and which ones you liked.

You like comedy with a school/friendship plot?
hmmm, Nobuta wo Produce & My Boss My Hero are among the ones that come to mind (don't know if you've seen them or not) & I'm sure you've already watched it but just in case GOKUSEN (with my favorites being 1 & 2 i.e. I hate 3)

If you don't fancy romance, then most of my favorites (excluding Buzzer Beat & Long Vacation) might suit your tastes, check their synopsis/reviews & tawakkaly ala Allah and give some of them a try.

Allah Akram! ^_^ Where are you from?
It's my pleasure. But if you allow me I have a few inquiries first;

So have you ever watched any J-Dramas?
If you haven't, then what type of genres do you think you'd prefer:
Romance/comedy, drama, detective, school, family, politics, law, historical, fantasy, anime adaptations...etc

Also do you prefer watching the latest dramas or are you ok with dramas a bit old?

You can check my favorite dramas list, though I think for starters most of them can be a bit heavy :D

hmmm, How about you give Hana Yori Dango a try? It was my first & for some reason I keep hearing from both seniors and juniors at college that it was also their first. Though for juniours it's supposed to be an oldie!
It doesn't prove it's necessarily the best, but at least it proves it encourages people to watch more :D

I keep reading about how IHYV keeps getting the first place ratings among shows of the same time slot, and only watching the first episode I can guess as to why.

I was planning to watch Cruel City, but I don't like disappointing endings. Don't want you spoil it just in case I watch eventually, but what kind of disappointing, badly written ones like Big, or lacking a bit like Faith (or so I hear) or overly tragic & depressing?

I have never watched the korean version of ItaKiss so I can never tell for sure but I read a lot of negative reviews so I can guess what you mean.

Well, it was certainly cute, the female lead in particular helped a lot it in that, it's just that the two of them (Kotoko & Naoki)'s acting never satisfied me, her's was sometimes fine but his was.....terrible! to the extent it at times drove me mad, he like finishes his lines and resets his face to a expressionless stare! He seriously needs more acting lessons :D I mean they guy who played Kinnosuke definitely beat him!

It's either a firm story with a message, spectacular performances from the leads, or at the least super cute characters and super funny events. If none is available then a drama needs a miraculous save to become a favorite of mine. that sometimes can be a unique plot, which (let's be honest) itakiss lacks as well :D

I've been reading a lot of good reviews of Monstar, but I'm the type that picks dramas according to the mood, & my mood nowadays is not really for teenage/school dramas though they're one of my favorite genres.
I'm Sam is also popular, a classic school drama. hope you're liking it.
Well, right now I'm supposed not to be watching anything during Ramadan, but I couldn't resist watching the first few episodes of Queen In Hyun's Man and the first episode of I hear your voice. Both have very unique and interesting plots, no wonder they're famous.

I'm currently watching Queen In Hyun's Man and I Hear your voice. Still in the beginning but they both have GREAT plots ;-)

there are two Korean dramas that I'm waiting for; "Good Doctor" & "The Master's Sun", they're scheduled to start in a few days but I only start watching when the drama has aired completely or sometimes more than half of the episodes have.

Out of the dramas u mentioned, I have only watched Orange Days, it's one of my favorites <3 Tsumabuki Satoshi & Shibasaki kou had a great chemistry and I loved how their relation developed. I also enjoyed the sign language a lot, very edifying :D
Good Choice ^^

Well, that's a question to which I can't give a definite answer.
As a fan of both dramas, I can at least give you my experience and how I see the difference between both (putting acting aside).
The Japanese dramas put the most effort on the story/script. On the other hand, I find Korean dramas concentrate more on the events and expressing how the characters developed & their emotions. For instance, some very popular K-Dramas if you take a closer look have a very simple even a bit hackneyed story-line, but still manages to attract viewers and make them fall in love with it.
So what I mean to say is that my favorite J-dramas are ones which I found myself impressed with the story or script and sometimes characters, while K-Dramas make you fall in love with the characters more to the extent you feel that you miss them after finishing the drama.
Does any of the above make any sense?><

Well, honestly my ratings of dramas is not so systematic as you manage to keep yours, so it's not agreeing with the numbers rather agreeing with your impressions and review of dramas that I'm talking about. Well to begin with I rarely look at the ratings given to the cast/music/rewatch value etc.. :D
I was thinking of watching Nine, glad you like it!!
If you liked Last Cinderella, then that means I MUST watch it!! ;)
Please do write reviews for all the shows you liked, but more important the ones you didn't fancy a lot coz I find negative reviews worth reading, even if it's a show I've watched and liked :D

Just finished watching Itazura na Kiss.
The original anime is a favorite of mine so I thought I should watch the drama, but well....it's simply a Shoujo anime turned into a drama, so it's not as fun as the anime & it's not the best drama either...if you know what I mean. Plus the main leads' acting was a bit mediocre, still the show was nice over all, the finale just had too much cheesiness for my taste :D
As for K-Dramas, I've downloaded all the IHYV episodes that have aired up till now, and will wait for the final two ones this week and then start watching it ;)
Also downloading Queen In Hyun's Man and will watch it after IHYV.
out of all the dramas you're watching which is the most that you're enjoying?

I'm on a short rest from dramas, but a short while ago I've watched Joou no Kyoushitsu and liked it alot, I have also watched the first episode of I hear your voice and LOVED it (can't wait to watch the rest honestly)
other than that I'm not watching any of the currently airing shows...you can say it's kind of my policy to watch shows only when they've finished airing. I sometimes watch J-Doramas while they're being aired but it's more difficult to do that with K-Dramas you know :D

Reading your comment I guess that means that you've encountered the same bug that I face a lot here on MDL receiving the notification that a user has added you but then you can't find him on the list to accept so you end up adding him instead.
If that's the case then thanks a lot for adding/accepting me ^_~
