Nice list! Some news today: Yamashita Tomohisa will be in a new drama... based on the manga 'Drops of God'. Fun fact: his 'Nobuta wo Produce' buddy Kamenashi Kazuya already played the lead in a drama based on this manga in 2009, called 'Kami no Shizuku'.
Other actors that I'd put in the above list (or add on to it, why not a top 15 or 20;) : Yoshizawa Ryo, Suda Masaki, Yokohama Ryusei, Mackenyu Arata, Nakagawa Taishi, Matsuzaka Tori, Ikuta Toma, Kamiki Ryunosuke, Ayano Go, and Yamada Takayuki.
The series is just like the anime just the ending part was cut out and there's another movie for the other two…
The series is nothing like the anime. They scrapped so much. The characters didn't have enough depth. Uenoyama was ok, but Mafuyu was just bland. They skipped great scenes, like Mafuyu being sick, or Uenoyama realising the feelings are mutual. There's way less about the band's music. And where was Mafuyu's dog??! It was definitely too short and unfinished. And Aki and Haruki’s storyline is completely nonexistent. Their anime movie is about the manga content after the anime series. But everything in this part of the story was just absent.
This sorely lacked Uenoyama’s “It’s mutual” scene (really, go see the anime if only for that scene... so funny!). It also completely lacked Aki and Haruki’s storyline. I like Panorama Panama Club, but the central song (nice song, don't get me wrong) didn't have the impact that the anime song had (Fuyu no Hanashi). The manga/anime characters are much more developed… more emotional depth, more drive behind their actions.
Nice cameo in ep 1, by the way, of Kim Kwang Gyu as Sun Ho’s teacher… Jin Young’s dad in ‘The Dude in Me’. I bet that means they had a good connection on the set of that movie. I love little details like that.
I like this so far. The relationship between Sun Ho and Kang Hee seemed to be set up like so many other shows…
…with Kang Hee being annoyed by Sun Ho at the Judo match and her taking loads of episodes to warm up to him. But then they switched it up immediately, making Kang Hee pretty much instantly recognize Sun Ho’s warm heart, and having Dong Man as the tsundere who’ll slowly get charmed by Sun Ho. I really like the friendship vibe between Sun Ho and Kang Hee, which makes you root for their romance. Nicely done. Fingers crossed for a good show.
@cheshireunicorn I’m sorry, but your comment is straight-up prejudice. Gay relationships in Korean drama might be rare still, but they’re not prohibited. In fact, we’ve seen more recently, and good ones too. But what you’re essentially saying is that close male relationships without romance are a waste of time, and that’s just plain stupid. You might want to watch the full drama, or read the source material first before commenting.
Edit: the comment I replied to has been deleted. It called the show homophobic and a waste of time... which is just rediculous.
Will try my best Not sure about Instagram cause I can’t be active on both because I’m a student But try to…
Seriously... people are missing out on good shows because they're not aware of them. I think MDL should probably authorize more people to post on Instagram. I get that they don't want just enyone to do anything. But a more varied group of administrators would ensure more varied content. It's not called My Korean Drama List after all...
Nice piece by the way :) ... looking forward to others!
Mackenyu was great in Rurouni Kenshin!!
