Just right for me. I wish more K-dramas were shorter (it’s one of the reasons I’ve been going back to J-dramas…
Well, as good as Navillera… depends what you mean by that. J-dramas have a very different feel, are often a little bit quirkier, and production wise they’re different too, so it’s hard to compare. But some recent ones I’ve liked are ‘Nijiiro Karute’ (features the theme of dementia in one storyline, but in a VERY different way), ‘An no Ririkku’, ‘Kono Koi Atatamemasuka’, and ‘Rental Nan mo Shinai Hito’. Some older ones I really like are ‘Juhan Shuttai!!’ (one of my favorites!!), ‘Dele’, and ‘Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai’. And some ongoing ones I like are ‘Ichikei no Karasu’ and ‘Kikazaru Koi niha Riyuu ga Atte’. And if you are into history there’s this year’s Taiga drama ‘Seiten wo Tsuke’, but that’s far from short.
For me it was too short. I wanted to see more of harabeoji and chaerok's relationship. Love u harabeoji. Loved…
Just right for me. I wish more K-dramas were shorter (it’s one of the reasons I’ve been going back to J-dramas lately). Perfectly possible to tell a good story in 10 to 12 episodes. Less filler, better flow, more on point. I'd rather be left wishing for more goodness than feeling it's a chore to finish. But I guess that’s personal preference.
To people who are asking if this drama has romance and get no as an answer: YES… it absolutely does!!! Deok Chul and his wife Hae Nam have the most beautiful romance anyone can ever wish for. I think it’s kinda sad that some don’t recognize it as such because they think romance is only defined by young people kissing….
Never mind, I found out but it doesn't seem right that it can't be listed because it was produced in America.
But... Youn Yuh Jung and Han Ye Ri are actresses from those specific regions featured on MDL that you mention. In fact… from the most popular one. Steven Yeun, who is a Korean American is featured for work he has done in South Korea. Even Western actors, like Tilda Swinton or Thomas Kretschmann, are featured when they’ve worked in Asian movies. Seems to me that including a film like Minari, where it’s the other way around, is as valid an exception. Listing all of Youn Yuh Jung’s work, approximately 60 drama series and 30 movies, and omitting the one movie she won an Oscar for (the first Korean woman and only the second Asian woman to do so) just seems incredibly petty to me.
Oh, that's why! (I just asked why it was not listed). It should be.
I requested Minari to be listed some time ago. Answer was literally: “Not allowed because it is an American production”. I feel this is a huge gaping hole in both Youn Yuh Jung’s and Han Ye Ri’s lists. This is going to be an recurring issue if what we all hope comes true: more Asian actors represented in Western productions, playing Asian characters. Also: there are lots of non-Asian actors listed on MDL for playing in Asian productions.
Everyone else in this drama up to now... not so much...
Also: Baekhyun!

Anyway, I’ve put them in a list so it's easier to have a look :)
