Pei DaFu is a Eunch, he has been embezzling government money through his side and illegal business. The Emperor has been trying to investigate him but he hide his evidences so well and he also has cahoot with many high official, hence ML was sent to be undercover to find more evidences on him in order to charge him. Even after he died, they have charged him, they can’t find his embezzlement funds, that’s where FL’s father played such a crucial role for him.

I can accept flawed FL and green flag ML. But I can’t tolerate poor story telling on tolerating such tropes in love has to be compromise and acceptance and ML has to wholeheartedly accept and forgive FL because of love. Thats not a healthy portrayal of relationship. There has to be a proper growth arc needed for both FL and ML character. Toxic dynamic should not be condoned as acceptable. So far the writer has been showing us the all forgiving ML and the flaws of FL that hasn’t seen any grow and likeable-ness. I wondered why this is written that way.

Yes! LYX nailed all the roles here. The MingYe and SangJiu’s tragic love story is most impactful for me too.

ah I see, good to know, hopefully she adopts this based on the novel and not to have too many creative ideas to the story. I am liking this so far, I didn’t read the original novel, so not sure how it will be.
