Sure. I got your point. It’s possible to interprete it that way. To me he is Ancient God and he has been so lonely for so long, then his encounter with romance was that his senior was punished. So I would expecte that he will be cautious about human emotions. The mortal arc shows that he was bored and he was trying to have some fun, probably already attracted to SL with him fully realizing his feelings till he lost her. You will see till the East Ocean arc, he has truly let down his guard to love. But that’s up to interpretation, glad he come through😍.

HuaZhi is so cute, she read books to study how to be in a relationship and not shy to share.😍

Ep 21, it’s great that there is a proper closure for Ms Qin. ShaoYao is a great help here, to resolve the two mothers issue, and our dear HZ gave a lesson of empowering women and the weak.
Now our thick skin ML told FL will be his home, he really directly hinting🤣. It’s not surprised what ML had done to help solve the suicide act.

He can’t. In this story, Ancient God is beyond divine realm, they are kind of the guardian and shouldn’t have human emotions. Right below we have multiple discussion and explanation about the differences in the worlds in this drama. From Sky beyond to Divine to Immortal to Mortal realm.;) This story already pretty simplified as doesn’t involved the lower realms.🤣

I understand your concern. For a lot of viewers, that has been a common remarks, the pacing. Some parts move fast and some parts seems to take their time. I believe that is a trend in c drama story telling, it’s really not fast moving. Hence you see most drama is around 30-40 ep. And esp. for this drama, you are only reaching the arc where SL was defeated and lost in East Ocean. This is where XZ starts to realise his true feelings for SL. And their feelings will cement and they will confessed and commit to their relationships. From ep 20, of SL being found, there will be progression of their romance and SL’s background story and how XZ will die while trying to restore balance in three realms. You do what you need to to ffwd, but personally I find that every slowing down and pace make sense to me since it’s how the story is narrated. But if it still bored you, then maybe this story is not for you;). Enjoy watching.

SL also knew why XZ cannot cancel the marriage. The divine realm and immortal realm has always been in tension for centuries. So the marriage alliance is part of contract to keep peace in the two realms.

I like what you already notice about the no chair shown in scene. You are very sharp and spot on. Let’s see whether this drama miss out this small detail;) Most time when filming a drama, the director may neglect this small details and thought viewers will oversee as busy with the plot. In those times, when society/culture that focus on power, financial status or title/ rank driven, and male dominated. These matters are not uncommon. As mentioned in the earlier ep., the male bodyguard could even kill HuaZhi and the maid, and then tell a lie that it is an accident and nobody cares or will question it, if that statement is from reputable person. Sigh.😓

From the character arc, you can see Ms Qin is a rather simple minded and not scheming person, she can allow her son to be given away and there not make noise and just watch at the side and dare for him, shows that she is not scheming type. Hence, she falls for that trapped until Hua Zhi point out to her. She is really a true victim here. But I am sure HZ will help her along and wouldn’t abandon her.

Btwn the childhood plot here, not too cliche. It’s only a small connection to ML’s investigation of his mother’s death. Like how they at least didn’t overdo that relationship;).

I also totally love the funeral scene, so deeply captivating and how the emotions were played out. Good job by the director and casts.
