ya it seems like Murong family is the leader of the other country Yan, while ML is from different country (adopted to Song country but origin is Khitan or Qidan which I think shd be from Mongolia…hope someone with better Chinese history knowledge can correct me if I’m wrong…lol).

So bald man & his beloved prince son will surely fight ML to the end….in the sequel, I believe.

Just watched this movie in cinema a day ago…it nice to finally catch some serious wuxia genre with real martial arts fighting and not those with heavily CGI only…been a while since watching any cool martial fights! lol

Donnie Yen never fails to carry the heroic character and his charisma, aura just matches well as though it’s cut-out for him! Despite no longer in his younger age, noticeably they probably did some effect to conceal his features to be less aging to be more convincing for the young character.

The only thing for me is, the romance isn’t very much make-belief for me. I know CYQ acting is well developed and her emotions are bursting out making us empathize during many scenes but it just doesn’t click for me to see Donnie and her as a couple. Probably bcos knowing their age gap (he’s double of hers) and it feels more fatherly love instead of love interest…being a romance genre fan, I cannot feel the passion between them and most of the time being disconnected during their subtle love related scenes. Moreover there isn’t any kiss at all (which I can understand bcos period dramas or original wuxia world story are more subtle love—that’s if we exclude Kdrama wuxia and recent years of Cdrama expressive love in wuxia—but can’t at least show a little more of love expression despite subtle way?) even the evil character of the woman using her beauty to hook up other men as her resources have at least few seconds of on screen kiss (which I think was a bit unbearable for me…not sure why…altho ain’t someone who never seen romance or love scenes but it feels awkward seeing tht scene tho…) Hmm…just thinking can’t the screen time of romance be kept aside for ML & FL to boost the chemistry their characters shd be having…

Some parts a bit weird such as why FL keep pulling ML’s hand/ sleeves (??) when he’s trying to use his very last breathe (as he’s deeply wounded) to defend/ protect her when the ‘whole’ martial world fighters are teaming up to battle against him…Like it or not, they are determined to finish him off…Hmm…FL’s response seem less logical to me…

And why did ML’s Khitan real father gave away him (as his real son) to the wilderness (for any kind samaritan to help take care) and hid himself for some many yrs? If he’s deeply wounded, once recovered can’t he find back his son instead of waiting until he’s a well grown man (or supposed young lad)…and same goes to the villain’s father why hid himself so many yrs before reappearing? Is this the norm of the practice for the actual novel…Hope anyone who has read the actual novel can share a thing or two about the actual storyline : ) Thanks in advance

It doesn’t show they’re together as a couple but it seems like FL sister follows him wherever he goes…ending scene where ML riding the horse has her tagging alongside calling him brother-in-law.. surely there’s sequel as this story is very very long in the novel.

Anyone who read the Jin Yong novel probably can pls help to share more on this ya? : )

Can’t agree with you more abt Donnie being too old especially for the romance part with CYQ. However, he fits perfectly well for the martial arts scenes…hmm…can’t think of any other actors who could carry the scenes where the entire martial world is fighting against him and yet he able to show the heroic side of him…probably other actors who could pull off these scenes are similar age group with him as well : )

A good watch…firstly was captivated with the script whereby first few scenes ML just being released from prison and from there I know this isn’t the ordinary usual boring storyline whereby ML are goody-two-shoes or having great success in life…it shows how ML fallen from grace but yet in the end rise up to where he is in next few episodes. First time watching his acting and find it awesome!

The chemistry is good in this movie…seen the BTS to cure my momentarily aftermath void of finishing the drama and find the main couples having good chemistry during production. Only thing not sure why the scene whereby ML punch the bad guy in stage was in real life BTS using fire extinguisher to punch which cause injury to his knuckles…usually other drama will use soft pillow or something softer bcos acting is make belief and ain’t inflicting real injury (unless Jackie Chan movies). Hence, can feel the seriousness of this drama directing…

Wish this drama can last longer but also worry the sparks may run dry, hence the ending on happy note is just nice to leave a smile on audience faces : )

This drama plotline has 70% to do with business (legal stuffs, case handling) and 30% of romance…At first I thot it’s more towards romance but it’s okay bcos watching along the way it’s really nice to see modern day drama showing more real business case scenarios and enlightening to see main characters are really focused in working, climbing up the corporate ladder just like in real life…having OT etc and no like those made-believe drama whereby everyday is fake working scenes.

The romance is feel good…although felt it shd have more to balance up the ratio. Didn’t really enjoy the bickering couple (I think is 2nd lead couple) but in fact I do see couples like this in real life…wife harbouring hopes for husband to return home but ended up with empty promises, luckily this couple’s plotline ended on happier note which gives positive hope for viewers.

ML’s idea of spending only RMB 4,500 a month is a bit weird…given the clothes he wears around in the drama are designer coats which surely burns big holes in pockets…alas, make-believe scripts! Lol

It’s refreshing to know the script having FL with forward thinking thoughts abt marriage (not a sin to be single) …whereby in China and other Asian countries are still focusing on how to increase birth rates! Today’s society shd really put more thoughts abt this matter-—just as how the drama puts it, not every marriage is proven success hence it is an option in life not mandatory path : )

I know it could sound like I’m from another planet but this is my 1st time watching Xu Kai drama and like how he portray his ML character (smart introvert and yet caring, attentive, considerate etc good stuffs)…any other recommendations of his other best drama if you’ve watched it before? : )

Watched this for LJS...his acting skills are just as good as before, just that now he’s the villain of this movie but for a cause.

Overall I did enjoyed the movie but just that some elements seems just not there yet...The touching parts yet to touch my heart and I didn’t shed a tear and only had little welling up in my eyes that’s all...I do think possibly bcos the supposedly there’s a lot abt brotherhood and team spirit but unfortunately the way director or scriptwriters put it, it just didn’t show the brotherhood between the team members...can feel the both brother characters are loving care in subtle manner for each other but between team members maybe still lacking and need more scenes to strengthen the feeling.

Some parts are either too logical or illogical to me..for instance, why does the wife insist to stop the bomb (first was the fake bomb) in playground when all the residents already been asked to leave their premise and what’s for to risk her own life knowing can’t stop the bomb due to limited time & complicated setup. Next is, how can a civilian reporter be so brave that on one side talking to own son on mobile phone that ain’t coming back earlier but on the other side staying back to console the ML’s daughter who’s all tied up with bombs...for God’s sake, go get help from some experts or call experts (I do not believe the entire Korea only has ML’s side as bomb expert!) It’s insane to think a reporter that obviously showed throughout the movie has no experience or idea in bombing can handle such complex emotions of high possibility dying by just pacifying the young girl. Also, in earlier part of the scene in stadium, how can he just leave his dear son in the seats while chasing for ML just for juicy news scoop (yes this is his initial intention!) I mean how can a father be so irresponsible (?!!) that there’s bombing incident in the stadium just happened and next minute very undisturbed by it telling a young son to stay put while he goes roam ard randomly to follow ML.

It is good effort when movie makers trying to promote unselfishness actions to encourage audience to buy in the character, with sympathetic feeling and rooting for them. But it’s not very logical in this movie, hence sometimes I get pulled away from the story really...

ISWAK = It Started with A Kiss, Taiwanese drama as originally released but if you like Korean the adaptation drama is named Playful Kiss...

FTLY = Fated To Love You, also originally released in Taiwanese drama and Korean adaption is having same name or side name of You Are My Destiny...I see your list you’ve watched the korean version and probably you might wanna check out the older yet original version which is more hilarious on the acting and plotlines (only if you may like occasional cringey parts which tickles laughters!)

I do think some romance acting can be subtle while some can be more steamy depending what’s the plotline & directing flow of it..which do u prefer? : )

I do enjoy the recent Terminator sequel whereby showing him having a softer spot for his adopted family members...guess the movie directing also keeps up with current society views : )

I’m thankful for your post but need some help to clear up a bit of the muddled plot. So the chairman (Hwang Hyeondo) is the biological father of his now wife’s son, Jun Tae?? Who is Gwon Yohan actually? Does his now wife knows it (?) which is why she’s telling him at the end to anger and trigger him with added regretful of his doings. I watched a version suddenly no Eng subtitles so got confused at this part.

yea...I too watched the YT! Trying to slowly cure my aftermath of watching this drama (wishes it could be slightly longer) and catch up on all the BTS...lol...

glad tht to a certain extent we share similar views on this drama...gone are the days where seeing my parents watching Rambo-like or Terminator guys movie/ drama with manly charisma (no offence as I’ve nothing against their style but just not my cup of tea! lol) I too feel nowadays it’s totally okay-ed for guys to show a softer side of themselves (they are humans with emotions as well), let alone crying due to sadness or purely happy tears..

btw, any other recommendation of drama of similar type of chemistry? Kinda need something to move on to : )

Just finished tis drama...awesome chemistry, giving me the positive vibes once watched! the last 3 episodes had been released almost a week but I can’t bring myself to watch it as didn’t wanting to end this feel good journey when watching the drama...it’s been a while since I feel so into C-drama that I actually binge it from late night until the next morning when the sun comes up! Didn’t expect it was such a fun watch really..

Both ML & FL despite age gap in drama (and in reality) but their acting made it so believable that love and being in love together can thrive in any given situations that comes their way...Like how there isn’t any complicated love triangle or fussy scripts and it’s just about how couples can work together, be strong and supportive in their life choices...being in love and yet have a career of their own!

Wish this drama can go a bit longer episodes as to after happily-ever-after-marriage, how they cope for further stages in life (such as other drama about after marriage life in ISWAK, FTLY, etc) Anyways, this is a good watch if you’re looking for romance drama with positive vibes portrayed by the main leads and also second leads couple ^^

P.S: FL & ML character is so ideal that my better half is laughing at me when I watch this drama...I do think need to watch this drama by shutting off all basic logics of how reality happens bcos this is dramaland after all and each main leads are like carved out from a gem stone being all perfect and lovable to audience to encourage more CP ship and/ or fans. Pls don’t watch this if you’re someone who’s full of life logics...lol
