May I know if this is the ending…then it’s sad ending right? Bcos if ML doesn’t know her in real world??Note:…
Ohh wow…many thanks for the details…am glad there’s somewhat continuity as not easy to build the background story of each character given this is short drama…so if the production team can retain some base of the earlier season plots wld be helpful too…Wish to catch this drama soonest! : )
Not to sure if what I’m going to say next might be disappointing to anyone going-to-watch this…(*Spoiler Alert:…
Okay I’ve rechecked his hairstyle in The Killer Is So Romantic…apparently not just the hairstyle but his eyebrows in that is much more thicker which helps in showing him being more manly than this drama which it’s seemed more thinner and looking like a frail person which doesn’t match this script’s character of him being a strong warrior in martial arts and yet also highly educated scholar-like-prince…(fyi I’m not a makeup artist but it’s also my hobby to explore)
Just my two cents worth of thoughts ya : ) wondering if anyone thinks the same of it
Not to sure if what I’m going to say next might be disappointing to anyone going-to-watch this…(*Spoiler Alert: Kindly be warned to read on at your own risk…😅😆)
…but TBH I came here after seeing few good productions of Yang Ze in The Killer is So Romantic (my fav among his works), Emperor or Boss, and Destined to Meet You (helped me numb my pain and passed thru my bad Covid19 condition during quarantine!) but for this aren’t too pleased with few things…
• The production editing (feeling a bit strange…everytime when FL speaks to herself the background is black to make it stand out but then after few times it kinda gets boring for me, seems to looks like those Doraemon cartoon where a character speaks soliloquy but it’s very old school feeling)
• This period drama hairstyle didn’t seem to suit ML here…(and I’m going to go back and check his hairstyle in The Killer Is So Romantic as he seems good there!)
• The script lack of power and stickiness to make ppl feel excited to anticipate for what’s next (few parts i seem to press on bcos thinking it’s almost there so why not just finished it…instead of really wanting to see what’s going to happen)
• The costume for ML a bit meh…I know it’s short drama hence low production but main leads should have better attire to make it convincing he’s the Lord (‘wang yeh’) there
• Chemistry a bit let down…pls don’t watch Yang Ze other production work before coming here…else might be in for a surprise…what’s wrong is it the script or editing idk but it really doesn’t make my heart flutter when they kiss…probably bcos FL keep reminding us she’s on a mission…but usually such mission-become-real-love plotlines can be high chemistry as well, just not for this one
• Supporting characters isn’t too helpful as well…SFL’s expression lacking something to convince she’s the bad girl or with ill intentions…probably FL’s verbal compliments keep saying SFL is cunning etc is making the matter worst bcos she isn’t showing micro-expressions (or maybe the camera lacking close up shots to capture it) to support this character’s cunningness
Overall not very excited to see the Season 2 and hope Yang Ze can get more projects from bigger production house for him go showcase his acting skills…^^
lmao that's somehow the same reason as me, I ended up here considering rewatching this cuz I couldn't move on…
I’m a fan of romance genres and especially those funny comedic ones are good to watch…occasionally also fantasy-wuxia type, sci-fic, etc…But of cuz this is 35 episodes with 45mins each, wld need to consider if shd spend the time on it. Lately am on short dramas…lol
Yesterday a bit sadden by the news (it’s old news reported 2weeks ago but I just realized) abt L&P’s main ML having some personal life (photos leaked) exposed to media and tarnishing his reputation…nt sure if it’s true but in short run won’t be able to see any of his latest production and could be away from media for quite some time…
Haven’t watch Meet Yourself but it’s in my bucket list…like you said, if it’s that good that will bring forward watch it soonest : ) Thankss for reply!
I’ve watched this during my Covid19 quarantine and it was one of the feel good short drama that helps me overcome my bad health condition, endless sleepless coughing nights…also mental support as seeing such romance cheesy-ness + sweetness just melts my heart and numb my painful condition back then (was too unwell to write a review, hence missed out on it and recap now…haha)
I was checking out ML (Yang Ze)’s list of dramas & movies (after The Killer Is Also Romantic and suffering void aftermath of ending it!) and now chanced upon this drama’s MV trailer and BTS interview once again, indeed is a must watch… so sweet : )
Interesting short drama…like it that has the Mr & Mrs Smith vibes in drama version! ML & FL chemistry is good…the kisses aren’t bland, especially Episode 14 was hilarious to see them fight until in bed together and humorously family members getting surprised by their “passion” :p
This is a great watch! Didn’t expect to be a gem and the romance is just nice!
It isn’t easy to do portray different characters and yet managed to nail it all! At first I wasn’t too much of liking for ML’s ancient world look but it really grows on you when his character is well portrayed and especially fun to watch when their relationship is drawn closer with all the obstacles to overcome together.
FL acting is good and she looks beautiful and convincing in every character regardless ancient world or the first fantasy/ novel world (to me it looks like year 1930’s-a.k.a. The Mystic Nine-cum-Elysium 2013 movie-with all sci fic equipment and people yearning to be nobles living in the skyworld)…and in her real world she looks very much like an young naive university student despite she’s in her 30+) I will surely check out her other productions after this!
First time I’m watching ML and despite him being stoned-face at the beginning, there’s an obvious progression of his micro-expressions when he begins to fall in love with FL and putting her well-being beyond himself.
Supporting characters are also convincing, no matter how little part they portray but they have good changes across different fantasy novel dimensions which brings value to the plot-lines, together the main leads.
Chemistry is good especially when main leads in their characters aren’t too sure of their own feelings…can feel the cheesiness of it which is fun to watch! 12 episodes with just abt 30+mins (deducting the opening song and ending song) is basically just 6hrs of watch (equivalent of 2x Avatar movie, that it!) so I binge it within 2days lol…and yet Director able to squeeze in quite some storyline into this drama…giving a good blend of fantasy dimension traveling + romance…Best to watch if you’re a fan of W-Two Worlds, Queen In-Hyun and Splash splash love just as I did enjoy myself here! : ) and remember to stay behind at the ending song credit rolls they slot in few seconds of clips to elaborate more of the each episode screens.
It’s my enjoyment for the drama series that brought me here to chase the movie.
*Spoiler alert: Pls don’t read anymore if not wanting the ending giveaways*
However, having mixed emotions after watching it—the ending was okay, at least all is happy but feeling a bit confused with the traveling timeline. This round the story enables few time travelers within their timelines which was kinda messy for me—probably also bcos my attention span was intermittently being disrupted during the movie (couldn’t watch in cinema as my buddy not available and watching alone wasn’t my preference at the time, so found it online while at home…big mistake when not putting in 100% concentration especially on the 2nd half part of it!!)
Appreciate how producer bring the drama to big scene and how director trying to piece the story together (honestly a time traveling drama of 13 episodes piecing it into just 1 movie of not more than 2 hrs is really tough to direct!) but for first time viewers may need to understand the time traveling concept of the drama version or at least have some basic of the concept before watching this, I think. TBH I’ve forgotten the drama version after having watched it many yrs ago, hence unable to follow some of the parts. Although couldn’t make direct reference of drama version due fo the timeline in movie version is just a gap of few yrs time traveling, whereas the drama is about 10 years gap if not mistaken…but still need some understanding of drama origin to support it (such as need to know there’s doppelgänger involved to answer why main leads looks alike but actually different person, hence difference names with different personalities across different timelines and yet pulled into one timeline for this movie!)
Patrick isn’t main role here despite naming as such, he’s more like supporting role bcos his screen time is dependency of main roles (anyways, that’s the main reason of his character’s existence to be there for them) and his only solo screen is just almost 2 minutes of reminiscing the FL when she’s young. Ohya, and the ending part when credit role (do remember to stay behind during credit roles as got some ending parts to watch!) he got a small scene as well.
ML & FL portrayed their characters well and at some parts was nearly teary when knowing ML died in one of the timeline…but then got used to it when alternate timelines seems like the fate is someone got to die anyhow or no matter how hard they tried to avoid it! So my tears no longer…as there isn’t enough space for me to take a breather nor release the feelings of my mourning for the deceased character…before he/ she sprung into life back again (!) in the next timeline where more attempts are carried out to save each other.
Overall, didn’t regret watching in online but not exactly what I wanna watch in big silver screen…probably only thing is I shouldn’t have let my home background disrupt my attention while watching…needs to be really quiet and focused when watching this, really…
Yippee…the long awaited movie version is out! Can’t wait to see it! : )
I’ve finally watched the movie version but….(yes there’s a ‘BUT’ for me as isn’t as what I anticipated) anyways, to cut the story short pls watch it for yourself and be forewarned to either lower expectations first 😅
This is one of the few short dramas that have well fitted script and acting of main leads and supporting roles are surprisingly better than what I’ve expected! Good and fun watch!
Usually short drama especially period drama is of low production but for this is considerably well balanced…probably bcos it’s a good mixture of modern wear (crossover worlds) and few different scenes as not just the usual short drama of 2-3 scenes/ background setups…lol
Previous time traveling genres seldom address a lot on technology adaptions, however although being short drama (with short time of just 6mins per episode) yet this managed to awe me when adding modernization…especially like how FL using hoverboard around the palace (exactly! palace such a large place should have everyone using mobility devices to aid walking!) introducing usage of name tags (a.k.a worker tags) and leaderboard (best maid of the month or something) which motivates palace workers…lol. Another fun one about the VR type of projector and portable speaker to broadcast what she needs, etc etc…such a fun watch…ohya, also the mentioning of how drone can help in wartime!
Just when I thot the ML (King) isn’t being exposed to our modern world due to time constraints…but Director managed to squeeze in some scenes of him meeting FL family as well. Glad to have that part in! Really wish this drama could be of longer time or more episodes! But TBH I don’t feel it’s being rushed at all : )
Only thing is the ending, am thinking if will have Part 2 bcos the real celebrity (ML is said to be imposter of his other character in modern world) came to visit them! Hope got sequel to this.
Btw, does anyone think ML looks a bit like Yang Yang vibes? Or it’s just me…lol..will surely check out more of his other productions. As for FL, I liked her since Queen of Attack…good & lively expressions, hope she can have more main roles in future.
