Melodrama…and surprisingly Kai Ko (ML) acting alongside Vivian Hsu (FL) wasn’t being intimidated at all despite the age gap. Both of the managed to hold their characters well and bring out the story.
*Spoiler* Just a bit sad that they can’t end up together due to various reasons but they both separately learn something from each other and eventually grown in terms of way of living.
Taiwanese production always good in wrapping up with some takeaway messages for audience. It’s slow paced yet I did enjoyed the movie : )
Predictable but is the ending good? Such as FL still get to meet ML in real world? Or is it just a dream woken…
Does ML (the author) knows FL in real life or just same face as the novel but no connection at all? Pls spoil me with the ending just to know if happy ending ya : )
This is one of the recommended short video production for me I would say…TBH, after deducting the opening songs and ending songs abt 1min so every episode just ard 6mins, 24 episodes so equivalently to just 2.4hrs of a movie. Only thing is, not too fancy clicking next episode each time being bombarded by ads😂oh well…
At first few episodes I wasn’t convinced to continue watching bcoz some expressions of SML & FL wasn’t too detailed (for example the part where FL was trying to gesture in removing SML face mask and was mesmerized by SML’s good looks after taking it down…her looks seem the same before and after taking it down while not even a tinge of evil look during this part!
usually for other dramas where a character got to be evil at first, at least need to show somewhat evil side as a contracting factor of how evil vs goddess would be…was a little disappointed with that hence nearly couldn’t get over to continue the episodes…luckily pressed on (since it’s just 15mins gone with that) and until later episodes it begins to pick up with FL makeup showing great contrast between evil her and goddess her which is really helpful to get into the storyline) Another point could be, director probably didn’t want her to be looking so evil as this is a romance genre and she’s the FL who needs to be in love with ML! So to balance of the sudden hatred of audience towards her evil character could need to be longer episodes and not for short video like this.
The supporting characters are important to set the environment and backing for the main characters…although underdeveloped but noticed each of the smaller roles are generally well acted and their micro expressions are okay managed (the elders in fairy world, their frowning during discussion with SML) makes me feel this could be a lengthen drama production…coupled with their character outfits, especially FL having many different outfits and accessories does show the production house isn’t too tight on budget and willing to invest to make this work (I’ve seen lower budgets whereby same outfits throughout whole short videos!) and the background being green-screen CGI but still there’s some background props here and there (there are other lower productions whereby just a white vase as ornament for a wealthy family house!!) does some convincing work to aid & relate with the story and bring us more feel for each scenes that having some house-looking or enclosed area.
However, for those probably hoping to see full fledged xianxia (fantasy) dramas, pls don’t regards this as your first attempt bcos due to the short production it is indeed lacking in many areas (character development, correlation logics…where’s all the nice outfits coming from when FL in mortal world have both her parents passed away, who’s the breadwinner for her who feds her…) and should just be preview to what xianxia drama would be. Need to have some basic understanding of generally how immortal world and mortal world rule works before watching this ya…lol
For me, it’s enjoyable short drama for me…as I do miss TMOPB and this having some reflection of the scripts : )
BTW, does anyone knows why there were some scenes/clips on YouTube that were not shown in the drama like the kiss…
ya I’m getting confused at the last part (the one you’ve mentioned kissing-small house-ML standing in pagoda) bcos it showed at the very ending part after the credits role+ ending song, so am thinking could this be the alternate ending or something?
Before credit role + ending song, FL still dressed in red outfits (devil character) but after the credit role, the above scene played out…
Bcos FL is the actually Immortal Xi Yun who disappeared a thousand years ago (this part is proven from the scene SML’s wrist curse/ injury re-triggered as he used his powers to retain Xi Yun very last breathe of spirit back then, so when he gets closed to her she’s Xi Yun with the same spirit in her hence he endures great pain!) and the outfit she’s wearing is the Xi Yun outfit (so that’s the fairy or goddess world of her character) so I wld like to think she resume her fairy character while still in love with ML (Demon Lord Jing Yuan)…but not sure why ML looks deep in thoughts standing at the pagoda as though it should have a sequel to this..🤔🤔 and now sure what happens to SML
The subs weren't all that great, so that's probably why I'm confused, and it is kind of rushed since it's short.…

Thanks for the note. Generally won’t be watching if it’s sad ending…especially if the ending like you mentioned above, it sorta wipes out ML existence in her real life…just like woken up after a dream. Shall skip it then 😅

agree…I’ve watched the trailer, not sure if to continue with the full length of it. Why vertically produced? Am seeing there’s background in the screens and even if sub-par but at least there’s simple background to begin with. Just not used to vertical shooting.

I went into this thinking this would be a noona romance as it was labelled as such, but for me, a one-year age…
Totally agree with you…1 year is nothing (didn’t know it’s just 1 yr gap in the storyline) but the main leads actual age difference is 5 yrs.
Hmm…am still thinking if to start on this drama as just finished watching Rowoon in other drama (Extraordinary You) it’s sweet in a way…How about this drama’s romance chemistry if you don’t mind can pls share if it’s sweet as well? (0 for low; 10 for highest)
