This movie somehow reminds me of Your Name anime (the part where ML feels what FL feels and getting to know and…
okay I’ve gotta admit I dunno which piano piece she played...I shdnt have wrote Beethoven (didn’t want to mislead anyone...lol)...I just wanna express she plays like a true musician! anyone mind sharing what she played as kinda like the music ^^
This movie somehow reminds me of Your Name anime (the part where ML feels what FL feels and getting to know and sharing each other’s deepest thoughts & secrets)...It’s a sweet fantasy-like love story. Have seen other dramas of similar (though not exact) topics abt body switching, soul switching but all ain’t abt being able to share the same brain waves and taking control of ones physical to the extent of playing the piano piece (that was cool! no need to build muscle memory and yet can play like Beethoven...lol)
Been watching Patrick in his previous Someday or One Day which was good and Everybody Standby 2 (tv show where artists gather to collaborate for acting performances and judges will share their feedbacks for improvement and at the end will pick the cream of the crop) and seeing his acting skills did improved...can’t wait to watch his other productions.
First time seeing FL acting...i think she has some resemblance to Zhou Dong Yu (ZDY), don’t you guys think so too? Or is it just me? To me seems like ZDY junior : )
Was looking for something uplifting (after an exhausting day of mental juice used up) and picked this to watch remembering is just a few hours and plus point, having one of my favourite actor PHS...wow, it was indeed a good choice! :D
The pace is good, storyline is somewhat predictable but yet if ask me it’s nice to watch (knowing how evergreen story for best friends to eventually fall in love with each other it’s such a blessed story...and it can be real depending on each person’s destiny, as it did happen to my friends!) and the chemistry is good slow brewing (enjoy the moments how HSH’s micro expression when she out meeting 2ML on a date or sumthing and got caught by ML, and how her jealousy shows when she’s in for a surprise seeing 2FL going after her ML...wasn’t her fan before this eventhough I’ve watch her other works but after this is just 4 episodes yet it can make us click along to ‘feel’ with them, both ML & FL acting is good) and it warms the heart after watching.
Also like how the scriptwriters having metaphorical expressions whereby FL can’t drink red wine as will get bad headache while Makgeolli works fine for her...it’s just nicely expressed on how love shouldn’t be compromised to the extent for lavish classy stuffs when it doesn’t fit the person then down-to-earth & simplicity can be the best love choice yet may be left unnoticed sometimes...^^
Completely agree about the quality! I’m so glad that they did not get some annoying high-pitched voice for Yun…
thanks for sharing. Don know where to find out if the voice is dubbed or her real voice. I remember watching a variety program whereby Reba voice can dub well for many range of characters (I.e. elderly) and even cartoons so never know what’s the standards as to why she cant use her own voice for her own drama...now I know^^
This is a must-watch biographical movie of the legendary Cantopop diva! Appreciate how the production did an awesome remake to revive the backgrounds of FL growing up era’s building landscape (most are gone—tear down or replaced with other stuffs by now) and bring us back to the great golden days of HK 80’s, they even got moveable antique cars on the road at a few scenes!
I can feel how much sacrifices, effort, social responsibilities in Anita’s life captured just in these almost 3 hours movie (and ofc im a fan so I know the behind story reported during the event taken place, so it’s good ‘those were the days’ for me! lol...and maybe for new audience may need more time to digest the many flashbacks along the movie) and FL did a good job in bringing Anita alive—in the movies ofc. Some online reviews did commented there’s a lot of real Anita flashbacks which wasn’t exactly good if director wants audience to believe FL is Anita herself...but if you ask me, I’m good with it as happy to be able to see a good collection of real Anita’s stage presence and it does help to connect the dots of her various events in her life. I mean I won’t ever think FL is Anita, anyways...so why not have flashbacks. Besides Anita voice isn’t something can be easier copied or duplicated (ok I saw behind the scenes how FL learn sing just for this movie! Kudos to it!) so there’s got to have flashback of her real musicals tht makes right to the feeling of the movie.
Also I didnt expect myself to tear up when FL had the conversation with her designer, Eddie abt treating him like a father and how he loves and treasure her...FL acting is good for a newcomer, really.
2nd ML at some point does seem convincing to me he’s a replica of Leslie Cheung, my other favourite HK superstar...probably his looks from some angles but one thing, Leslie’s true charm and flamboyant aura isn’t something can be duplicated...so this is the best we can get.
After watching I can’t help but going online to find back the previous performances from both late superstar...they really mark the best period of HK 80’s to 90’s that their fame reaches most Asian countries.
P.S. > This movie’s production had taken a lot time & effort to make it work (late Anita’s brother even suing the production company for infringement, trademarks etc...but we kinda know how baddie was her gambler brother based on the many court cases, interviews, etc...so what I mean it’s not easy to have this movie up and screening and now even the aftermath follows on!) Therefore, hope we can all appreciate this movie, an awesome watch to learn what’s the fighting spirit of a true diva! ^^
Came across this drama and seeing it’s only 12 episode with just 20min+ for each, decided to watch it all in one go. Didn’t have much expectation but it ended up entertaining and surprisingly a fun watch.
I know this drama was 10yrs ago so probably it’s a hype for hiding age gap of 21yrs making a 38yrs old idol seems a big taboo. Actually now as I’m watching in yr 2022, from Korean wave it is no longer surprising for 38yrs old to look younger than their actual age and with makeup it can easily transform like this drama! And who says age factor is a big no-no for entertainment world…Just like in China many married women celebrity with kids are also taking up dramas acting from teenager years (yes it is still as convincing) to maturity age of the character…and they can better grasp the character as well. Nowadays even the singing competition (with judges being blind folded or not able to see the participants so to focus on vocals instead of good looks) there are participants aged >40yrs old chasing their dreams to be singer idols! Probably it’s noticeable that many women in Asian countries do age gracefully and lesser than their actual age, unlike western countries…due to various reasons.
For those who are looking for a light hearted drama can watch this…I can’t say it makes audience glue to the seat for this but it’s good relaxing plotline and it’s also got good positive messages to audience i.e. to follow our dreams, put in our best effort and be confident in the life path we decided on.
Only one thing, their Plan B to backup, the younger sister being successfully transformed to her by just makeup was a bit off for me…because makeup aside, her sister’s body size frame couldn’t possibly match Mayuyu’s petite frame, or at least something will be obvious if in real life. But then again, for entertainment purposes let’s put that aside and just enjoy the show! ^^
frankly, I watched this bcos I liked Nini’s performance all this while ever since her first movie, The Flower of War. As usual her acting is good here if not excellent…I can’t say excellent as this movie is a heartache to watch, really (I think that’s probably how the director wants it to be relationship-heartache-focus, the possible aftermath of romance!)
FL is an artist (model for photo shooting, advertisement, actress, etc) and a romance freak who put love ahead of everything in her life (I.e. career, and her life-she attempted to risk her life just to make her ML lover return to her) while chance encounter with ML (working in advertising co, he’s a party animal, mindset-of-brotherhood-are-the-best…pls don’t get me wrong I have nothing against brotherhood, I’m just referring to the instances he often pays/ support for his buddies dinner bills, etc) a freewill persona who falls in love easily (uncountable EXs) and yet not wanting to take up responsibilities in love (he said it himself to her).
All I can say is love is blind…FL’s love is suffocating & overbearing to ML while ML’s carefree lifestyle is undisciplined, lacking commitment to FL. I do agree love to a certain extent is with commitments, there’s got to be a 2way mutual agreement of how to live together and how wanting to grow old together (ofc that’s if it was the relationship’s original intention of lastingly be together).
If love is blind, then probably shd really keep it ‘blind’ (figuratively speaking ya) with trust onto one another, instead FL keep digging into ML’s daily activities, finding out his social circles and how deep of ‘friendship’ he is with his ex, installing CCTV at home….all these just makes ML freaks out (I don’t think I can say this is out of an act of love when it’s way too overbearing then it becomes a selfish act of one person wanting to be controlling the another person in a way thinking this will not lose him/ her). I do think with or without exerting such ‘controls’, the other party we love will continue to stay in the relationship if he or she wants to. And even if with such control in place, whoever who wants to cheat on the other party can still find ways to go about it. I remember my BFF told me her bf just put her name on his mobile phone for his other gfs so that he could get away with it! See what I mean! But of course my BFF found it out by accident when she’s just sitting beside his mobile phone that rang with her name on it!
This movie shd be watched by those who want to know how NOT to be in a relationship, so it’s reverse actions to take note on in order to stay in a relationship. Many of the scenarios aren’t exaggerated as I do know people who are in such relationships and not just the girlfriends being a love freak but their boyfriends were like that. So some of these are realistic scenario. After watching this movie, it’s worth pondering on what’s the true meaning of love in the first place…Like some interviews of famously successful couples I read about, there’s a good sharing POV…if both enters a quarrel breakout, it’s best to try to first agree to the other heated up party and once the argument’s heat is off, then only to rationalize with the other party…bcos after all, no one wants to lose the other party so there isn’t any true meaning if quarrel just to win the other party in the arguement but instead creating a broken relationship! After all, I’m sure none of us wants to enter into a relationship just to have heartaches!
A beautifully directed commercial…i like how today’s product commercial ain’t no longer about selling their products but bringing a new meaning to it by sharing us a story that connects back the product.
At the end of the day (after watching this), feeling even more blessed for living in today’s society with technology (such as mobile phones) that connects people around the world, regards of abled-person or anyone with any form of disability (just like this commercial even with deafness can use mobile phone…my relative who’s blind also can use tablet devices to listen to their favourite station via app!!). Living today is just awesome ^^
It’s a beautiful love story told partially told by the narrator, who’s the ML’s deceased nephew…which…
Just to add on a bit, I hope I didn’t misled anyone into thinking this movie is about COVID-19 which is not! It’s about blood donors having contaminated blood (I.e. with HIV or Hepatitis C) but still made it to the blood bank and affecting blood recipients (in this movie, the villagers). It’s really dangerous to receive blood transfusion from others, really…
It’s a beautiful love story told partially told by the narrator, who’s the ML’s deceased nephew…which although this movie is rather melo but yet the kiddo’s choice of words (instead of adulthood description) sometimes ‘waters down’ the heaviest of emotions for the plotlines.
This movie brings a mixture of feelings of what really matters when someone is on the verge of dying. The situation whereby ML & FL’s days are numbered does allow us to overlook the fact that they were somewhat having an affair beyond marriage. But their spouses aren’t even concern about their health or well-being (based on what the director is allowing us to see is this) and letting ML & FL be quarantined together with the group of isolated villagers waiting for their last days. We somehow can see the fears the directors had built for the storyline setting….it kinda reminds me of this COVID-19 pandemic we are having right now (earlier stage most countries are under quarantine or lockdown, people young and old are dying) and suddenly pops up a question in mind whether we should do the right thing or do things right if having known it’s our very last days to be alive.
It’s rather sad that ML taken away his life the moment he realised FL lost hers while trying to save him. Maybe this shows how unbearable her death is to him that he feels totally meaningless to carry on with life without her…Or maybe, either he doesn’t have the courage to live alone or to leave her alone in the ‘other world’ (if there is any, since the narrator implies there is).
Watching this movie makes me appreciate life and living even more! Sidetracked a bit, I can’t help thinking how I made a dinner toast 2 years back (before pandemic begins…worldwide) that my wish is hopefully myself & everyone I so loved to continue be alive and kicking…and yes, instantaneously my friends over the reunion table laughing hard at me thinking I’m silly…back to today, it is not longer silly to wish for life… that’s not something easy to come by as sometimes, somewhere, somebody could be fighting hard just to survive…and this is one of those movies that makes us ponder about the meaning of life ^^
The casting list captured my attention, especially when noted Jackie Chan is in it! Later while watching, I keep wondering if I missed Jackie as did a quick search (yea I searched while watching halfway) then realized from a blogger than he’s only going to have a guest appearance scene at the ending part...okay I didn’t missed him then.
Overall this movie is full of patriotism (i.e. giving up lives for the sake of saving the camera as proof of a successful climb on the peak for world record!) I can understand as while watching (it’s a 2hrs long movie so there’s gap time for internet quick search) i did a quick background check on the facts of real story Mt. Everest climbers and noted indeed many really died for climbing up this highest mountain in the world and most corpse are even left just there due to too costly to be evacuated to ground level.
Seeing how tough it was to climb, I hadn’t regret a bit for not joining my friend to go up Mt.Everest. yea my friend only went to the base camp and climbed a bit previously and did shared how tough it really was...although not even to the peak yet! After watching this movie, I still don’t quite get the idea of why doing such defying nature action/ hobby/ ambition. what I mean is, what’s the point of getting to the peak when having the need to sacrifice your loved ones...is it worthwhile at all? My friend also had personal sacrifices during the climb such as having risked her health (i.e. can’t eat well, drink minimal water daily, cant sleep well, can’t pee or go toilet well—have to do it in a biodegradable bag) and I’m not too sure anyone‘s true intention or true motivation in climbing the highest mountain on Earth...it beats me, really.
I’ve just rewatched this last night and decided to update my rating to 9. After watching many dramas and movies, this is still worth watching when have time. I try to keep a time gap/ distance so not too close from previous watch (say a gap of 2-3yrs) to make sure I don’t remember every single scene or plotline so I can enjoy it better, which amaze me it’s still as good to watch! (Okay I admit I did tear up a little during my 1st watch years ago and now i don’t shed tears but mainly bcos personally I’ve grown up with maturity along these years and yet this is still a good watch for me!)
Believed it or not, it is totally underrated for a small production web drama/ televised 2 part episodes drama (ok I’m not having any access to korean cable tv, watching this online is just like a 2hrs movie for me) as the acting is good (both FL & ML chemistry is awesome for this movie and I even double checked if they are lovers beyond this which surprisingly wasn’t thus made me feel wow with such good chemistry!) and the details of the production despite not big/ mega budget (notice how the soccer ball also has royal symbolic on it, ML’s king shoes/ boots also have royal symbolic pattern on it...details to such extent!) and the scenes are well edited that even to freeze the screens we can see a good artistic touch to it.
Ofc this isn’t those complicated-heartache-royal-harem plotlines nor period-dynasty-heavy-wartime-strategy genre. It’s very direct romance comedy with time traveling to Joseon period that does bring good tickles and excellent to watch after a tired day just to let the straightforward and yet entertaining storyline imply how blessed we are to live in today’s technology savvy modern society : )
OMG I shd I watched this movie first before any other on BDSM related ones! This korean production is a good combination of comedy, sensual and yet not erotic! Unlike how Hollywood portrays BDSM which is heavily on erotic s*x scenes (i.e. Fifty Shades movie installments), or Japanese movies which usually are also heavily on s*x scenes and even more towards sadistic at times.
Appreciate how a few scenes is this movie talks abt how consent is important, which most Japanese productions usually never venture into this area, thus at some point BDSM appears to be dangerously allowing others to violate or bring torture a person’s body, which is a misconception after having watched this movie. Also good that the script has this part whereby 2FL near escape from the rapist, which also indicate how risky it can. And another part where FL is preparing the ropes which is good to know how proper managing of it is required, prior to the role play. As I remember having watched somewhere a documentary or interview of a bondage roping expert whereby they really need special quality ropes so that the tying would be an ‘art’ and the pain level is under controlled or manageable level by the person in bondage.
It’s indeed not an easy topic to produce a movie on, and kudos to this movie for not being explicitly such as no nudity or s*x scenes but still can bring out the script well with sexy scenes. And FL & ML acting was good! And I used to think if someone is submissive in BDSM probably is similar character in real life (easily overpowered by others) but this movie share a different light to it, which is good info as well.
Must watch for first introductory to BDSM and enjoyable comedy that comes along in this movie! ^^
This drama is awesome! It took me a while to finish it (me being a binge watcher…this is really tough choice in avoiding binge to the end) bcos I keep postponing it, hoping not to go to the end of it so soon! So this is how nice it was to me :p
Ji Sung’s (JS) acting is superb, how can he crossover so many types of personality in one single drama…wow!! I especially salute him for portraying Yoona personality as he done it well (some man cross dressing but can irks people away but his is very well done for his manly body build yet carrying it out marvellously and in comedic way-unlike how Cdrama have tendency to use more feminine guys to act girly but IMHO Kdrama is always top notch in doing this yet bringing more layers of good acting to the drama!)
HJE is super expressive in her character and I believe this is probably the direction for her character….to be a good match for JS’s ML DID. At first wasn’t used to her but it gets better and better each episode with her tears and laughters when the story unfolds.
PSJ’s performance did won me over…the sibling’s love (yea in the end brother & sister love) is sometimes cringey but yet fun to have such a loving brother.
Like how the last phrase of the drama narrates,”There is a dark basement in everyone’s heart. If ignored and only observed, the darkness becomes thicker. You should muster your courage and go downstairs, then turn on the lights. If you’re scared when alone, someone can hold your hand. If I’m with you, I’m not scared…” Well said and meaningful^^
May I know the little notes in our watchlist when we rate the movie/ drama is it accessible to public viewing or just ourselves can read it? Appreciate for advise. Thanks
