Note: To clarify, there’s no controversy plotlines for this. My ‘controversy’ is referring to one of the FL cast’s background story...As I don’t want to be bias when watching any creative production. Indeed her acting is not bad, for such complex inner feelings character needing to portray.

Title Love Scene Number Spoiler
Controversy aside, this web drama is worth watching. I especially like how the director decided to split all 4 stories into different parts, while still remaining a character that sorta keep the little string into a complete set altogether.

I can’t say I can relate to all 4 stories but I’m sure somehow or rather in our lives we would have come across similarities—maybe not happening to us but to our family or friends, maybe less dramatic though—and if we don’t, then probably just not yet (old enough to encounter such scenarios, no offense to age but sometimes we need to have enough experiences in life to connect to such stories).

#23 an age whereby reckless pursuits seems to matter and yet FL having a strong mind of her own, #29 sometimes we tend to seek liberty, away from society views while hoping to find happiness on our own accord, #42 strangely skeptical abt the loving partner she has and being doubtful of the man she had given vow for life, causing rash decision while menopause kicks in with anxiety on aging, #35 at an age either up or down (either on top of the society ladder or down in the pits trying to make a living with whatever have) FL trying to make some sense of her love with battling depression and envious of those who seems to perfect to be true....

I’m kinda into melodrama and sometimes I enjoy finding the true meaning or underlying story of any movie/ drama that I chance upon (but of course before I begin this, I research a bit on it! lol). I think if you are someone having similar thoughts of finding the day too rush and as you wish to wind down at the end of the day, you may want to have some quiet & slow moment (ok for ‘slow’ maybe u can KIV #42 when she irks & scream at her husband it kinda burst my eardrums so I jerk off my earphones since I’m using earphones for late night movie watching, too loud ya that part, very real! other parts ok slow mo) to ponder what’s life, then watch this. Do enjoy finding some subtle messages director wants to bring out and mind sharing with me(?) only if you may...haha ^^

I’m nt sure if you want to hear this...but...since you asked so I’m just sharing ya. Pls don’t read on if you aren’t wanting to know more, before watching it.

Basically, this movie is about the famous Chinese monk—even if it’s a fantasy but I’m sure when the word MONK is mentioned, he can’t be a marrying partner type of person, just like how Priest can’t marry (but Pastors can marry) sorta thing—so he ended up alone, continuously saving the world.

But one thing the director i think maybe he wants to have somewhat fulfilling for us audience so his lover’s remaining scattered soul is being gathered & turned into a birdie who follows him ard to save the world. That’s it... I didn’t quite like the ending but I understand probably that’s the best possible since monk can’t marry.

I think this movie is quite cliche but I do enjoy the script...however I feel something is missing, maybe the chemistry between FL & ML isn’t as much...I mean I’m ok with ML being younger than FL (I’ve checked just 7yrs) and I’ve watched many drama/ movie of such genre (noona romance or noona acting as younger age character and yet I still loved it!) but for this somehow I can’t feel their sweet moments making my heartbeat faster. Script is awesome (cliche but still awesome), actor & actress did portray well their characters...but where’s the love/ romance within them? I can’t really sense it, just feel they are going along with the script...perhaps anyone having similar thoughts as I do? I really wish the many moments can make my heart race, just like how those Kdrama/ Kmovie does most of the time. Or is it just me being bias on Korean productions...hmm

Can someone please explain to me what happened at the end of the movie - when they were showing the credits -…
IMHO I think it’s about the FL playing Cupid again! Bcos previously she did something similar at the beginning whereby she wrote to ML and also the 2nd FL—on a false pretense representing them—that they are both initiating a meet up or something like tht.

So now she’s more familiar with the rest of her classmates—probably knowing who’s secretly in love with who—and trying the same trick again hoping to help others ard her to be in love. FL is always well-meaning yea ^^

Title The Golden Monk Spoiler
I’ve chanced upon this movie while seeing the trailer with impressive looking CGIs (at the beginning the lookalike to peach blossom trees in the goddess world of Three Lives, Three Worlds & Eternal Love).

TBH after watching, kinda disappointed as it isn’t up to the expectation I have, given the production having such CGI creation so I thot it could be probably be another production of either focusing on action, or with a little romance on the background story (similar to Three Lives, Three Worlds & Eternal Love). This plotline seems too pack, being overtly ambitious to bring about action +romance +comedy (while also attempting to be tearjerker in some of the scenes which failed terribly!) which in the end it achieves nothing outstandingly memorable nor powerful to hit the climax of the movie.

Nothing wrong with the acting of ML, FL and even supporting characters but IMHO given such short time (just a movie, isn’t a drama length) can’t achieve so many agendas for it. Probably the editing got something to do with it...as the flow of the emotions isn’t just right, such as when we are about to feel empathy with the character (even before we are able to shed any tears) the abrupt change of emotion (either to something comedic or action) doesn’t allow us audience a chance to proceed, so getting all mixed emotions as many scenes crossover in a way that we can barely feel with the character & storyline. Also, many scenes I realize the tendency to laugh at a joke not bcos of the joke itself is funny, but bcos being surprised for such a joke being presented in the manner it is (which doesn’t give the ‘wow’ effect to us audience).

Since it’s weekend & lockdown (to curb Covid19 still ongoing) so I’ve only continued watching until the end hoping to see some light at the end of the tunnel and also bcos of ML Zheng Kai (liking his high-spirited persona in China’s Running Man, thus had been following some of his movies eversince) and FL Zhang Yu Qi (has been checking out her films & dramas after seeing her outstanding determination in Sister Who Makes Waves variety show & her quest to find love in Lady land).

Just hope my 2cents worth of review above can help to forewarn anyone before watching it. : )

Just managed to chance upon a link and watched this movie. It’s really something worth watching although I wish it would hav more time for fuller character development. Only when I checked the data online I realized it the works of a Korean director (no wonder the humorous scenes in between that have the Korean noona romance feel, which I enjoy watching!). Good as well, since this script/ storyline is originated from a Korean manga. (However, I’m not too sure why this plotline seems very close to one of my relative’s real life story—she too cared for her ailing mother-passed away-then cared for her niece and nephew who her brother just dump to her to raise-and she haven’t really lived her own life! Thus, this story touches me on personal level and it somehow makes we feels I wish this can happened to my relative in real life tht she cld find love as well.) Directing is just nice—as May-Sept romance high risk as sometimes may irks audience if not being properly directed or if the actor/ actress unable fit the role, in this case it is awesomely done.

FL amazed me with her acting skills that she really does play it well—not overdoing on her expressions. As for ML probably could be better as some scenes whereby his pretty boy image is less convincing to me (probably need to let us audience know more as to why such a pretty face like him prefers a woman so much older—shd show/ narrate/ display more of his inner feelings.) If I remember it correctly, he is rebellious towards his parents in a way a rather, as probably he has his own dreams that his parents probably doesn’t know what he wants, but how this development triggers him to fall in love with FL(?) Thus the background of his character is underdeveloped which at first I feel doubtful on the rationale of his love for her (I mean most movies can have ML started off as a prank/ true or dare challenge but it’s gotta take off somewhere to connect back to his inner self as to what triggers him to choose FL). So at one point I couldn’t really ship for ML to be with FL and wishing this could be better. Of course, I try to lose my rationale along the movie by ignoring the potholes to enjoy the show.

Am glad this movie has a good ending—brings the mood to a good closure. Just wished there’s more time (like a web drama of few episodes, say 3hrs long in total—but then again, it needs to be a movie in order to compete for international awards!) for director to put in more effort to build the expectations and dig deeper into each main & supporting characters. Worth watching, am glad I didn’t give up finding for this movie. Good & well-meaning message as well; we are never too old to fall in love and pursue for love regardless of age differences! Happy watching everyone! ^^

OMG~I shd have read your comments/ review here before watching this short movie/ web drama (TBH, seems like web drama level production level). Really a let down—seemed promising at the beginning (thot some roller coaster ride may come, or somewhat twist at the ending) but alas, the ending was rushed (I understand short movie/ web drama won’t have the luxury for full background story but at least shd give us viewers a proper layout for us to sympathize/ follow on the characters) and me too couldn’t feel anything for ML & FL.

And what’s with her mother having that smile on her face—is her mother the ‘special elderly woman’ who gave her the book during the café visit? Can’t she recognize her mother if that’s her own mother? Strange....

Too much death. The tone/mood of the movie was off. Sometimes funny then tragic and bloody.
The trailer looks promising, which is why I decided to check more details here before I begin. Mind sharing if there’s good ending or just hanging (open ended for guesstimate)? As my roomies and I are looking for action-packed movie and they don’t really mind for bloody scenes as long as good action scenes ^^
