What an epic ending! I need a second season. Honestly, this is one of those rare dramas that should have multiple seasons. There's so much story.

I loved the girl power. The girls/women held their own and fought nobley in their own way. Also, the overall character development was excellent! Everyone worked together using their own unique strengths. That's the beauty of friendship!

In an alternate universe, Gamin and Hanui would've been great friends. Like, they met as kids at Uncle's taekwondo dojang and have been training together ever since. Their fight scene at the end was giving Bleach, and I loved every second of it. I felt like I was watching Ichigo and Byakuya go at it for chapters/episodes.

Minhwan walking in tableau with his crew down that neon-lit school hallway with all the camera angles made me cackle. If you put music over it, it would be an SM music video. The fact that he sang in the library solidified it. I'm taking it as an Easter egg about his double life as a nugu idol making ends meet through illicit means (even though it's not)!

I was disappointed in Gochujang's friend too. He acted like he was about to go join the Marines and is nothing but a two-bit henchman. He really thought he was the final boss.πŸ˜‚ Sad.

It was nice seeing our very mature, "fatherly" Discipline Committee leader with his life turned around!

I'm calling this drama flawless. All 10s!

A really solid drama (Iβ€˜m on episode 6 rn) but why are most the the actors at least 10 years older than the…
My theory is that it makes them look more menacing. If they all looked like their age, the violence wouldn't seem as believable. Just a theory! Also, it's kinda funny, so I think there's a comedic purpose too- like in anime. I cackled when I saw the Discipline Committee leader with his little half ponytail looking 40.

I've noticed in many dramas that there's only one cop on duty, no matter the city or town.πŸ€” We're seeing some serious youth gang activity tied to a criminal org, and yet it's just one guy on the case. This is wild to me lol. However, I get in this case turning a blind eye.

Minhwan is actually more twisted than Hanwool lol Idk if they will have the time to dive into that tho.
He definitely gives off that vibe. It's too bad there isn't much time left. The smiling, "lighthearted" villains are usually the most complex and vicious. There's gotta be a season 2. They haven't really dug into Geon Yeop's backstory much either. I wanted to see that unfold too. I haven't read the webtoon, so I don't know the spoilers.

I loved it! It's an 8/10. I wish it was 12 episodes so we could spend more time with Miku and Eve, but it's still a solid series! Kitake was a great character. I like how the writers brought him into the story and the impact he had on it's progression. I highly recommend this drama, especially to those looking for something a bit more fresh and different. Don't let the synopsis scare you out of watching it. This isn't like the usual. Honestly, I find the drama encouraging!

Miku is hands down my favorite FL, right beside Wako from Colorful Love and Junko from A Story to Read When You First Fall in Love.

I knew the actor playing Haru looked familiar, but his portrayal with the soulless eyes and smarmy smile threw me off. That's Shintaro from Minato's Coin Laundry! Wow, he's a fabulous actor!

I'm binging, so I'm back. Now I see what the issue is. Haru has childhood trauma regarding his once beloved mother who wore bold, red lipstick as a weapon in a male-dominated world as a lawyer. He admired her, but then later saw she was having an affair and now associates makeup with loose women, particularly his mother. Haru is essentially projecting his mother wound onto Miku. I see this manifesting twofold. He's mistreating Miku in proxy of his mother, saying and doing all the things to her that he couldn't to his mother. Also, he doesn't want to be with a woman like his mother, so being extremely controlling, keeping her in the house, and forcing her to look "plain" is his way of protecting himself from the betrayal his mother caused his father and himself. He needs to be single and receive intense therapy. No trauma is an excuse to be abusive. I'm sorry his mother was outside AND he's a narcissist requiring treatment. Two things can be true!

This drama is really good! Again, it's not romanticizing abuse as the man simply loving his woman too much and wanting to protect her. This is actually a teaching moment on how those behaviors are abuse and come from an unhealthy place. It also encourages independence, self-esteem, and self-actualization.

When we met Miku's mom, that told us all we needed to know about Miku. Miku is following the example her mother modeled- being meek and accommodating regardless. The red flags are blaring. Haru dumping the makeup remover over Miku's head was assault. That alone should've been enough for her to leave, but her upbringing normalized accepting harsh treatment. Haru throwing her out and tossing money in her face should've been enough. His suing her for damages if she didn't comply with the engagement was the final straw, and yet she goes back to him. Normally, I get mad watching stuff like this, but when you're raised to have no self-esteem or opinion, no amount of common sense talk from others will change your thinking. You'll rationalize every red flag. Miku needs therapy and a support group to help her heal and rewire her thinking. I hope she gets justice too! Her man is crazy!

In the words of Glorilla, let her cook. This drama seems to have the classic toxicity that Japan keeps in a chokehold, but so far it's not romanticized. Aside from that, the drama is also offbeat and sweet. It reminds me of Colorlful Love in that sense, which is one of my favorites. I'm here for it! Eve and Miku are too cute. Hopefully the abusive boyfriend kicks rocks. He gives horror vibes.

I'm sorry, but I have a soft spot for Min Hwan. 🀣 I just can't take him seriously running around looking like a kpop group's visual maknae and waving around that bedazzled BB gun like he's about to light up the block. He's cute and funny. I hope they show how he got into this gang life. Is he in a nugu group from a small agency trying to make ends meet? I need answers.

Face Tatt Hyung was giving SoundCloud rapper with a top tier dental plan. I found him fascinating.

I totally relate to Grandpa about studying. It's simply fun, no matter your age or stage in life. I really enjoyed his and Sun Cheol's story.

Domestic bliss looks so good on Ji Yun! Thank you to those disgruntled investors for pulling up to her crib and acting a fool. She would've never stayed over at her man's house otherwise! Eun Ho is full of surprises. He's got the hands to cook AND fight! That loud man got snatched up by him and said, "Let me get up out of here before Ji Yun's secretary gives me a six piece!" Yeah, that's right. Eun Ho looked at him like, "Don't start none, won't be none." He doesn't play about his girl! He'll fight you ON SITE.

I'm so happy for Byeol!😭 Her little cup got full having Unnie over. The way she cuddled with Ji Yun and grinned while cooking together, you could tell she cherished that maternal love and connection. Her deadbeat mom missed out on raising a sweetheart.

Eun Ho's Bougie French Toast was on point!!! That man can cook his behind off. For all that Ji Yun has suffered in life, having Eun Ho is her reward. Let's get that marriage registered TUH-DAY!

The writers set a world record for relationship reconciliation! I've never seen a relationship issue occur at the end of an episode and then get resolved in the first 15 minutes of the next episode. This is unheard of. It didn't feel rushed or forced either. I hope this is the new normal. I can't imagine making our main couple suffer for a full episode or more. Honestly, I believe more romance dramas would be better if they stuck to 12 episodes instead of 16. There's less time for dragging out foolishness and the drama ends with satisfaction rather than suffering.

Weird, over-the-top characters? Count me in. Hanazuma's introduction was absolutely hilarious. FL needs to be on Hoarders. How does she sleep in peace when her subconscious knows she's living inside a dumpster?

I almost watched that today, but the full synopsis and stills of FL's veins sticking out of her neck reversed that decision. I want to see self-regulated FLs living in their "soft girl" era.

Ah, I understand what you're saying now. Thanks for explaining further. I've seen dramas where the FL is jealous and possessive. For example, in Oh My Venus, the ML was the cool and chic one. FL got jealous about a former client of his who was an American celebrity and rumors had gone around about a past romance. Also, ML teased FL a lot. It may not be as common because in a traditional sense, the man is supposed to pursue the woman and woo her. Korea is conservative about gender roles. I don't condone hitting of any form, regardless of gender. No one, man or woman should hit each other. Women are viewed as the weaker sex and are portrayed as cute and childlike, so there may be scenes where she may playfully or seriously hit a guy. On the flip side, watching a man hit a woman is awful as well and shouldn't be normalized in romance dramas. However, we do see MLs yanking FLs by the arm, which is also toxic. I like Love Scout because ML and FL are gentle with each other. I don't like it when there's all the yelling, yanking, and hitting. Love Scout gives me hope that we're moving far away from those tropes and portraying healthy relationships.

I think they did it well in this drama. Eun Ho didn't try to control Ji Yun's movements. He didn't threaten the guy. It was more lighthearted. He sulked at the bookstore. He was really harmless. In real life, the jealousy thing is annoying, but in a drama like this, I see it as part of how they show their relationship progressing. Ji Yun was very serious and standoffish in the beginning, so it's fun seeing her be playful and at ease and thinking Eun Ho is cute. Also, Eun Ho wouldn't be as endearing if they made him absolutely perfect and nothing ever bothers him. I just don't see this drama as problematic, especially when you compare it to the plethora of other romance dramas.
On Are You Human? Feb 1, 2025
I watched this when it first aired and loved it! Now I'm back for a rewatch. I'm curious to see how the experience will be now that we're in this era of technology and have people literally dating AI characters. It's not far off to think humans and robots could couple up. What draws people to AI relationships is the fact that the "person" adapts to you rather than having to deal with a human with independent thoughts and preferences. I've also read about a bereaved couple who had an AI version made of their daughter who tragically passed away. It's wild to think about, but this drama isn't far off base anymore.

Also, I'm experiencing Lee Jun Hyuk withdrawals as I wait for the next episode of Love Scout.πŸ˜‚
