On A Balloon's Landing Dec 14, 2024
Title A Balloon's Landing Spoiler
This was very good, but I was not prepared for that ending. What a way to kick off a Friday night.😭 I need something light and fluffy after this. I was hoping our boy would reincarnate and that Elder Brother would find him, and he did! And he's living the life he had dreamed of this time. I'm so glad! Dying tragically with 27 minutes left in a film as a main character is the most nerve-wracking experience for a viewer, but because it was so early it gave me hope that he wasn't dead-dead.😌

Title The Heirs
I've tried to watch this a few times back in the day when it first aired and never got past the first few episodes because it's so outlandish (mung bean powder being mistaken as cocaine and stolen by an airheaded American is a diabolical stereotype 😂), but oddly it feels like "the one who got away." I love the "rich people with problems" genre, and this is the drama that introduced me to the lovely Kim Woo Bin. As "Almost Paradise" randomly popped in my head this morning at work after 15 years of being set free from this treacherous ear worm, I thought, if I made it through BOF, can't I also overcome the The Heirs? So here I am, trying again.

I've been thinking about watching this for so long... What are the interests in this?
You should give it a try! I watched it when it first aired. What I loved about it was the fresh plot. Competitive weightlifting is a rare topic, and it's all the more refreshing that it's the FL's chosen sport, not the ML's. FL and her friends aren't your typical "female characters." They're a bit rough around the edges, loud, love to fuel up on food, and don't take themselves too seriously. It's also fun seeing college life from the perspective of student athletes. The romance is fun too. Although it's a rom-com at heart, it deals with hardships and serious issues too. There's also some mental health stuff in there. I also love the friendships between the characters.

Shiba Ryoma, you have entered my Boyfriend Hall of Fame to stand alongside my dream husbands, Togawa-san (Old Fashion Cupcake) and Kurosawa-san (Cherry Magic).👑 Our Big Three Corporate Baes who charm us with their romance in sharp suits at work and chic streetstyle while off-duty. Japan, give us more of these quality characters, onegaishimasu.💖 Like OFC and CM, I will rewatch this drama many times. It's truly top tier. I'd put it against the best of the region any day! We had intimate romance, solid storytelling, handsome leads, healthy communication, and no unnecessary characters or love triangles. Nothing was sacrificed!

I had no idea! I'm speechless! Why didn't they cast a male child actor? I'm just in shock lol. Did Lee Yeon actually…
That's a good theory!

I just watched it for the first time and finished it. The screenwriters, directors, editors etc want me to believe…
Preach!🤣 When Jeha was watching Anna on the surveillance screen joyfully struggling to make ramyun at her big age and grinning like a fool while rooting for her to get the ramyun right, I knew the drama was in the gutter with no hope! Jeha put his cape on for the wrong woman. Anna was written like a traumatized 13 year old despite being a grown woman, and that felt incredibly cringe and sad. She should've actually been a child side character to add more drama to Sejoon being a terrible husband and corrupt politician, not a random love interest with arrested development. Our girl Yoojin deserved better.

Eun Seok was running like T-1000, and in heels!🤣 She got hit by a truck and got up to keep chasing that girl. Plus she's a judge doing her own investigation because the police want to save face and not book the true killer. On top of that, she burns the midnight oil working. I really like how she's written.

But can we talk about actress Lee Yeon? What a hidden card, I liked her in DaS and Kill Boksoon and now here she…
I had no idea! I'm speechless! Why didn't they cast a male child actor? I'm just in shock lol. Did Lee Yeon actually audition for that role initially? Wow!😳 With all the past dramas when the FL pretended to be male, this was the first time I've seen a female look convincing as a male, and it was a woman in her late 20s playing a 13-year-old boy, no less. I'm flabbergasted!
On Juvenile Justice Nov 30, 2024
The Glory and Brave Citizen brought me here. I've been on a justice binge. The opening scene on episode one really sets the tone. Very haunting. It seems like the bosses in these legal dramas always have political aspirations and refuse to do their jobs properly because they care more about the title and power than actually making an impact. What's the point of being attorney general if you refuse to serve justice? That's why I love FL. She's not intimidated and does what's right
On Love Is a Poison Nov 30, 2024
I'm so glad the writers aren't dragging out Haruto's backstory. No unnecessary misunderstandings, poor communication, or martyrdom thus far! Ryoma and Haruto are handling the situation with much more maturity than I've seen in most dramas.

To everyone suffering over the wait for the next episode: that's why it's always good to keep a rotation of other enjoyable dramas to fill the time. It's one of the prices we all pay when watching dramas in simulcast. There are only two episodes left. You should savor these remaining days, because the the adventure will soon end and there will be no more episodes to anticipate.💖
On Brave Citizen Nov 29, 2024
I love FL! I want to see more characters like her. It's always a treat seeing an FL who can fend for herself and look out for others. There's nothing quite like street justice lol. This movie is very cathartic and tackles a very real issue.

I'm sorry, but Su Gang looks like a tenured teacher with a young family. 😅 The movie poster had me thinking two teachers were going to be fighting. Then when he drove up to the school on the Porsche, I'm like, "Surely the synopsis is wrong. That man looks 30 with a mortgage." He could be these other kids' father.

This is so good! All these movies and dramas make me wonder if the police departments in South Korea are this lackadaisical about crime IRL because it's so commonly depicted. Why does only a detective in plain clothes show up, often middle age and out of shape, in an unmarked car when an emergency call comes in? Why do they never call in for backup when the situation is too big for one person? Why does it take so long for someone to show up? Are the resources that low? I ask myself these questions every time I watch a crime drama or film. It's very frustrating lol.
On Lovely Runner Nov 29, 2024
As a Shawol, I'm not ready for this topic, but I've always hoped to see Byeon Woo Seok in a major role and it's nice to see inclusivity with a wheelchair-bound FL. Now that the hype has died down, I'm going to give this drama a try.

I've got third lead syndrome. Tee would be a better partner for Mon. She knows how to communicate and treats people well whether she likes them or not. I like Sam, but she's just as toxic as the cold-hearted male leads in straight and BL dramas.😮‍💨 I do love this drama though!
On Love Is a Poison Nov 24, 2024
I was hesitant to start this drama until I read the comments. I thought it was going to disappoint me like Kei x Yaku, but you've all assured me! Ryouma had me at, "If you're still a novice in training, you're not worthy of being my partner."🤣 Then the "mysterious, addictive puppy" shows up and now I know I'm in this to the very end!
On Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! Nov 22, 2024
I'm rewatching it because I love it so much. If you need encouragement or a mindset change, watch this drama. It's very inspiring. The sensitive topics addressed give the drama layers and prevents it from being tone deaf. It deals with real issues. J-dramas can be a bit toxic about body image and romance, so this drama is refreshing.
On Your Honor Nov 18, 2024
Title Your Honor Spoiler
I knew Ho Yeong wasn't worth all the effort! Judge should've let him face the music from jump. I understand him being hurt about what happened to his mother, and if he was gangster enough to kill a gang boss' son for retribution, then he was gangster enough to do the time for the crime. Judge Song ruined his own life AND that of others to protect his little, lying son who only complicated things further by being messy and dating the gang boss' daughter. He got Tee Rab killed by his father who was trying to protect him. Now Judge is ready to take out the cop who was trying to get justice for his wife because she's onto Ho Yeong. This is a MESS!!! I knew I didn't like Ho Yeong from the beginning. There really are no heroes in this. It's all gray. This drama should be called, "Uri Adeul."

The fact that Kang Heon thinks Sang Hyeok is better off in America than in prison when he's out here saying his blood commands him to murder and grape people is wild. Just because he isn't on Korean soil doesn't mean he's going to automatically behave himself and not harm people. A tragic mess!!!

These two dads are delulu for their precious sons. It's truly sad.

Poor Eun. Her mom killed her first boyfriend and he shot her brother and killed the other one. Now she's a vegetable.😔 The craziest part is that everyone else just left Ho Yeong and Sang Hyeok to just bleed out in their house. This let me know how tired they were of Sang Hyeok's shenanigans.

What Judge did to protect his son actually led to him losing his life in the end. He took the long, windy route to the same end result he feared.

Judge Song doing parkour lite was the highlight for me lol. The fact that he can escape those young, fit henchmen is a flex.

Mother Ji Yeong served us face, fashion, and attitude from beginning to end! Rich jewel tone fabrics, sleek silhouettes. She gave us moment after moment. Whether in mourning, joy, or ready to murk somebody, she delivered to us look after look, and all we could say is, "More, more, more!" To my fashion girls, the light in this dark show is Mother's closet. I must say Sang Hyeok was serving as well. His airport style never misses. He never shows up to a crime site underdressed.

Why does he no longer act in the series? 😕
It appears he went back to modeling and is enjoying married life.
