What is the story of his comatose wife, Shi Luo? What is the heavenly connection between Gu Cheng Jin and Xing Yun? We are deep diving into the background stories from the later part of episode 4.
Just like a typical Xianxia drama first few episodes are fluffy and playful. We should enjoy them because when the actual story begins and hits us with full on angst, we will miss such carefree episodes. The episodes are full of cute moments between Shen Li and Xing Yun. Xing Yun in a jocular manner comments that Shen Li is of Yang temperament and he is Yin, therefore they fit perfectly. Xing Yun takes great amusement in watching Shen Li do all the heavy lifting, pretending to be a useless weak man. These episodes serve to establish a bond between the leads that help viewers connect with their story, enabling the viewers to understand why there is a strong attachment between in leads in future episodes. Also I found it quite funny when Shen Li pulled Xing Yun by his hair to rescue him from drowning, it was such a painful rescue, Ouch!!! 😉. Xing Yun playfully calling Shen Li, Cluck Cluck😝 is another hilarious aspect.
Episode 1 to 2 Off to a good start. The characters of Bicang and Xing Yun are interesting... If it were up to Bicang she would write "a dummies guide to raising an immortal CHICKEN who is actually a Phoenix" for Xing Yun.🤣🤣🤣.
Xing Yun is a total package - soft spoken, compassionately gentle, protective, a great cook, down to earth and willing to put up with Bicang's temper tantrums and demands. Bicang, even though on the surface seems frivolous is actually sympathetic and tender hearted. Both the leads are strong and their interaction in the mortal realm is uplifting. Love how exasperated Bicang the chicken is with Xing Yun in the beginning.
LOL at a chicken wanting to eat meat🤣🤣 and Bicang thinking Xing Yun sells himself to earn money😛😛

* Wei Qian's reaction to Wei Zhiyuan's confession about his sexual orientation was handled quite well in my opinion. Though Wei Qian was a little upset and questioned his own upbringing of Wei Zhiyuan, all in all his concern was about Wei Zhiyuan's future. Especially after knowing that Wei Zhiyuan already liked a particular person. Wei Qian is more concerned when he learns that Wei Zhiyuan's feelings are one-sided and Wei Zhiyuan's response of going crazy if that person got married one day doesn't put his mind at ease.
* The way Wei Zhiyuan takes care of Wei Qian is the relationship goals. If your partner is as caring and nurturing as Wei Zhiyuan you should hold on to them with both hands. Even the office employees can't help but sigh and speculate about their relationship.
* San Pang notices, Wei Zhiyuan sleeping and cuddling Wei Qian. San Pang comments to Wei Qian that probably the person whom Wei Zhiyuan likes is Wei Qian. Wei Qian rubbishes the speculation but it's hard to believe that he doesn't have an inkling about Wei Zhiyuan's feelings at this point. Too many hints are dropped by Wei Zhiyuan and Wei Zhiyuan's behavior leaves little room for doubt. At this point I feel, Wei Qian is hiding his head in the sand like an ostrich and sweeping all his feelings under the rug.
* San Pang remarks that Wei Qian allowed Wei Zhiyuan to hug him and did not push him away showed Wei Qian liked it. Wei Qian makes excuse that he didn't want to make Wei Zhiyuan feel akward by pushing him away after his coming out. But we all know thou 'doth protest too much'. 😉
* Is Lili attracted to San Pang? Today her behavior clearly indicated she has a crush on him. Does San Pang also feel the same about her. He sure did not want her sharing her bed with anyone especially Zhiyuan who was not biologically related to her. It's funny how the word biological relation was mentioned a few times in the context of the Wei family's relation with each other.
* Things are going to become tough on Wei Zhiyuan with a potential new love interest in the horizon for Wei Qian. How cute, Wei Qian has an admirer. Ms.Ling definitely has romantic feelings for Wei Qian. For all her talk of investing in their company for purely financial reasons the way she looked at Wei Qian screamed 'mine'. But I did not see any attraction from Wei Qian's side for her.
* poor Wei Zhiyuan, the moment he was apprehensive of, is very near... His shocked heartbroken reaction upon hearing the gifts were from their future sister in law was emotive.
* San Pang very directly asks Wei Zhiyuan if the person he liked was Wei Qian.

Wei Qian doesn't want to acknowledge any feelings for Wei Zhiyuan even though he is not completely oblivious to it. San Pang's comment on how Wei Zhiyuan treats Wei Qian as a treasure hits the nail on the head. Not just San pang but other office workers also notice the extra care that Wei Zhiyuan takes of Wei Qian. Wei Zhiyuan is quite brave, he doesn't hesitate to wear his heart on his sleeve. Lili's age was mentioned in this episode, she has just turned 18. Oh and it's funny how money minded San Pang and Lao Xiong are, they don't mind throwing Wei Qian to the proverbial wolf as long as they get the funding for their company🤣.

Zhiyuan feels more than brotherly affection, it manifests by shouldering more responsibility and being able to provide help and support to Wei Qian who has been the family's caretaker and breadwinner.
* Wei Lili is like any teenager, has dreams that are quite unrealistic and may lead her down a dangerous path. However she has two wonderful people at home to take care of her. Wei Qian is afraid that she will turn out like her mother, so overreacts. Even though he has assumed the role of a parent as well as an older brother, he himself is quite young to know how to communicate rationally with a teenage girl. I was so scared for her when she got in the car of the stranger for medical aid. Zhi Yuan was right to reprimand her for that.
* Wei Qian's life revolves around his family. His ambitions and dreams are for their happiness and growth. It would be good for him to have someone to lean on in future. (Obviously presently he cannot be open to any romantic feelings as can be seen from Zhiyuan's side). Though it's not explicitly revealed yet, I feel Lili's mother(even Qian's mother?) may have Ped*philic tendency for Qian along with substance abuse that also led to domestic abuse towards both the kids, Qian and Lili.

That was pure gold.. All the laughter before we switch to the angst of Xianxia dramas.
The leads do have good bantering going on. First four episodes were light hearted, but did you notice how gentle Xing Yun was with that chicken?
First four episodes were so heart warming. Love when a strong man encourages the woman to take care of him😆😆.
