In episode 26 while Ruyi was meditating, she had an epiphany when Empress Zhaojie called her by the name of Ruyi.... She looked as if a great burden had been lifted from her heart.
I interpreted the message as let go of revenge and live your life... But it could also be, take revenge without feeling guilt, disregarding any relationship that the person might have with Empress Zhaojie.
Hmmmm...I think it'd be less logical if LTG changes so quickly, considering the maaannnyy years he's been obsessed…

I have high hopes that Li Tongguang will come to his senses because for Ruyi he is like the closest living relative, she thinks of him as her brother/son/ disciple...
How heart broken Ruyi was, confirming the facts about Empress Zhaojie'a death..All the men in her life her father,her husband and her son betrayed her... But I am glad they are balancing the characters, if few are corrupt and obsessed with power then on the other hand we have selfless people who think about others first... More political intrigue on the way, that will be interesting to watch.
What do you think Ruyi understood from Empress Zhaojie calling her by the name of Ruyi.. Letting go of her revenge and living her life for herself?? Ruyi looked as if a huge burden had been lifted from her heart after her meditation and epiphany.
And It was so refreshing to see Ning Yuanzhou had cooked for her when she was heart broken after her discovery about everyone involved in the conspiracy to assassinate the Empress, he joked that he would cook at home and she could roam the world in future so both have to practice for that future. I hope we get to see that future.
Do you think LTG would "decrease" his craziness if Ruyi would acknowledge him? I have the feeling he wouldn't…
I feel if he knew her identity he might become respectful... He worships his master but probably he cannot digest the fact she is close to Wu state people and is keeping him at arms length.... If the script writers choose to do so, he is a redeemable character, we can chalk these episodes as temporary insanity. After all if Ruyi is his master, she would have taught him better.

Notwithstanding the current 'obsession' storyline assigned to this character, I have found this character to be quite unique.
It was told to us he is the son of princess Qingning (Emperor of An's sister) he was referred to as Emperor of An's nephew by Empress Zhoajie...
His father is a mystery, first prince said his biological father was a lowly paramour of Wu State. The Express Zhaojie speculated the father was a musician from Su state.
However I feel he has royal blood... He is surely a son of an Emperor.. I would have said he was the son of former Emperor of Wu... But with this new Su state, he could be a son of the Emperor of Su.
I hope the series focuses on the main ransom/power struggle storyline and cuts the obsession storyline short..
I am back, re-watching some of the episodes for the Nth time. As far as the year 2023 is concerned this is 'THE DRAMA' for me. I have seen many interesting dramas in the year 2023 and met many talented and knowledgeable people on MDL. But this was the drama that made me open an account on MDL, it was instrumental in converting me from a passive observer to an active participant. I feel a sense of 'kinship' with the members that I interacted with here, it always gives me pleasure to meet them on other drama pages.
This is the only drama amongst the dramas aired in 2023 that I gave a rating of '10'. When I rate a drama 10, It means 'For Me' it is that comforting nostalgic drama that I would love to return frequently to rewatch & reminisce.( having left objectivity and rationality far far far behind)
What touched me most, was the simple yet compelling Love Story. It was the left, center and right plot in this drama. I loved the characters and appreciated the performance by the cast. If you are looking for an uncomplicated costume drama, with a bit of modern day references like Tango dancing, playing volleyball, mentioning Jet lag and 'buy one get one' scheme. Do give it a try. It does stretch a little because there is very little external crisis. For me, except a minor issue with the middle storyline, this drama is quite fabulous.
