I was planning to search for the singer's name of opening ost, I believed it would have been Jackie Li(Pei Lan)…
Yeah sometime the background singers' voices are very close to the characters of the play.

I was planning to search for the singer's name of opening ost, I believed it would have been Jackie Li(Pei Lan) because the song is sung in a bubbly manner... Glad to find out it is Chui Na Li Sha her portrayal of vegetable vendor also seems to be happy go lucky and carefree, her voice suiting the theme of the song.

Special Episode 25 (alternate reality- what if, These characters could restart their lives )

What if life gave these characters a reset button and they could restart their lives anew......Life is full of choices that define us, our lives are the sum total of all our decisions... One wrong turn can plummet our life to hell and another right turn can elevate it..... This episode is in NO way "Redemption" of any character but a reflection of what ifs?...... I hope all these characters in some alternate universe made a befitting choice and enjoyed a lifetime of happiness.

Goodbye, Meng Wan and Lin RuLan, I am glad to have accompanied you on this difficult journey...May your next life be full of happiness, love and appreciation.

It is really well put together series..... I also believe that explanation for Wu Lain's proclivity was the weakest part.

So does this end at episode 24 or 25? Where I'm watching, at ep24 before the end credits it says "The End" but…
There will be a special episode 25...it will be an alternate reality, like what if all characters including Wu Lian made a different choice in life... It is scheduled to air on 4th October (china time ) on we tv app... However the original story ended with episode 24...episode 25 is a glimpse into their life if they made a different choice.

Yeah, I was curious to know more about the original author, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the author was a man... Lots of empathy has been shown to the victims in this drama, never once did the author or screen writer hint that the victims were in anyway responsible for what happened to them....

I found the following info about the author of original book.... the author of "Nine Righteous People" , currently works in the Internet industry and temporarily lives in North America. He is committed to creating an immersive world with rich details, well-structured and suspenseful stories, and interesting people in it; "Nine Righteous People" is His first novel published on Douban Reading won the "Xiaoya Award" on Douban Reading.

My opinion regarding the author's choice for characters of Li Chun Feng (episode 22) and Liu Sanniang (episode…
This drama has been adapted from the novel “Jiu Yi Ren” (九义人) by Li Bo Jian (李薄茧). ...And The screen writer of this drama is Cao Xiao Tian, also credited for works like Love between Fairy and Devil, The lady in the Butcher's house, The crack of dawn etc...

I was quite surprised to find out that both the author of the book as well as the screen writer were Males... The unforgiving and ruthless manner in which they have portrayed Wu Lian's character, exposing Ru Lan's harassment at the hand of corrupt male officers while gathering evidence for her rape, describing the guilt and shame whole society heaps on the victim making them hesitate to step forward... All these elements made me believe that it had been written by a Woman... It is a very sensitive and honest depiction of true life situation... I don't know if much has been changed from the original book because I haven't read it so I will focus on the drama script.

If I were writing (which I would not be writing on such a serious topic), I would not have decided to sacrifice Liu Sanniang and Li Chun feng's life because I want to believe in possiblity of happy ever after.... Even though their death saddens me, I can understand why the author felt the need to go there...

Liu Sanniang's death (ignited a fire to continue their campaign against Wu Lian)

Most of the people in this group had become complacent and disheartened at the end of episode 18. They were not getting anywhere, Wu Lian was proving to be more calculative than they had presumed. As tragic as Ru Lan's death was it had happened in the distant past, seven years ago.....because she was dead their fight would not benefit her in anyway... On top of it the majority of these people had turned their life around during the period of seven years and achieved fame, money, recognition, position in the society... They were reluctant to risk it all in this futile battle... After all, the majority of us when faced with flight or fight choice, select flight(survival).... Liu Sanniang's capture by Wu Lian and her ultimate sacrifice brought the need to punish Wu Lian from past to present.. It ignited the dead fire and joined everyone again in the common cause to avenge Liu Sanniang's death and punish Wu Lian... Liu Sanniang's death caused a domino effect and got the group rolling again.

Li Chun feng's death(personal reason, to bring Tian Xiaoling out of her self imposed exile)

In my opinion, Li Chun Feng's death served a more personal purpose.... For him the most important person in the world was Xiaoling, he had built his life in the hope of having a future with her. However Tian Xiaoling was immersed in self-recrimination. she had been warned by Ru Lan but Xiaoling disregarded it because she believed it would never happen to her as she would never surrender herself to Wu Lian as others... So her guilt and self-hatred was the greatest.. No one including Li Chun feng had been able to convince her to let go of her penance, she was living in a state of limbo.... It required a catastrophic event like Li Chun feng's death to jolt her back into the world of living and face the bitter reality.... I wish the author would have thought of a different way to achieve it but as distressing his death is, it did serve a purpose in the narrative of the story.

For those who don't mind spoilers can read @Dedra70's post.... She had purchased express pass and summarised in detail all episodes from 20 to 25..once again thank you, @Dedra70 for such elaborate summary.

I had already read it a few days back so for me there was no surprise regarding the events of these episodes because I had enough time to acclimate by mind... Therefore my attention is now on 'how' of the episodes and not 'what'.

I am leaving below the link to her comment on summary of ep 20 to 25........ Her comment is the first in spoiler tag.. ...Major spoilers included, so read only if you want full revelation.

Episode 22 Li Chun Feng's fateMore details in spoiler tag below
Episode 22 Li chun feng dies.

Li Chun Feng an honorable thief who kept a record of every item he had 'borrowed' meets his demise... Wu Lian plots to apprehend Meng Wan and her allies while they attempt to steal the account book that his wife had kept for all expenses of abortion pills, doctor's visit and bribery to officials for keeping their mouth shut.... Wu Lian hides the book back in the place after discovering it first, as a bait.. This scene was evocative of cheese🧀 being used to lure mice out, corner and kill it... Li chunfeng stupidly walks into the trap and gets caught, he is beaten to death... Meng Wan and Liu Xin barely manage to take him out before he succumbs to his death... He had left a letter for his beloved Tian Xiaoling along with many bunny lanterns on which he had drawn Xiaoling's pictures engaged in various daily activities... Each drawing on those lanterns depicted his hope for a better future with her... The last few lines of his letter to her were a reflection of truth...Him and Her both were lying about their identities... Li Chun Feng being a thief reluctant to admit the truth always considered himself to be a scholar.... Tian Xiaoling assuming a Buddhist name, Jueming hoped to erase her past... His letter urges her to accept the reality and embrace it because self-recrimination is useless. Time can never be turned back, a person can only move forward...... They could both acknowledge reality and step into the sunlight of a better future together leaving their dark past behind.... Even though Li Chun Feng died, his letter was contributory in giving Tian Xiaoling courage to confront Wu Lian, giving her solace and encouraging her to step out from under the shell... His death drew Xiaoling out from her self imposed exile....

Li Chun Feng's letter:

"Ling, how are you? We have finally met again after seven years. Recently, I've been thinking at midnight. Back then, if I had asked you to spend a little more time with me, maybe everything that followed wouldn't have happened. If so, what would we be like now? We would probably live in a secluded place. We would be Self-sufficient, with a son and daughter, living in a small house. It would be a simple life. BUT WE CAN'T GO BACK IN TIME. This time, I don't want to miss the opportunity again. Tomorrow at noon, I will be waiting for you at home. If you are willing to come, we will get married. If you are not, I won't blame you. And I won't bother you anymore. HUMAN NATURE IS INDEED STRANGE. I've been stealing, but I never dare to admit that I'm a thief. Your name is Tian Xiaoling, but now you're Jueming. My scholarly title is just like your Qingshui Nunnery. We are hiding behind them, thinking we can muddle through life. IN FACT WE ARE DECEIVING OURSELVES. "
