I used to be a fan and would have happily been awaiting the new Hong Sisters drama-Not any more ..Some of my earliest…
Omg yes! I honestly love the lower budget cheesiness better with Hong sister dramas. I honestly think they are the queens of romantic sub plots and interesting character concepts. But as there dramas get bigger budgets and attention it's like they sabotage themselves by altering their original co cents to be more commercial or something. Some of the most brilliant fluffy Rom com scenes are Hong sister brain child's. I seriously just want a lower budget, shallow, fun Hong sister fluffy Rom com.

Title Crash Landing on You Spoiler
Man I feel like I didn't watch the same drama everyone else watched! All the 10/10 I don't understand at all! The chemistry between the leads was fantastic but honestly there wasn't enough build up in NK where it felt like a natural affection. Had they been connected more deeply maybe in childhood or more than a passing in Switzerland I'd be more convinced. But as a fated pair meh. Now the soldiers/village wives were hilarious and endearing. But again there was to little focus on the development of their relationship with the leads it felt unconvincing. I'm going to get hate I'm sure but the fiancee/conartist storyline was pointless and truthfully unlikable. It took so much valuable screen time from developing the leads and important side characters I wanted to screen at points. I also hated the bad guys. Not in a they are so evil I can't stand them way. More like a I'm annoyed by all the mediocre blah blah expositions. To many nonsensical mediocre bad guys. They should have use one big bad guy (fiancees uncle or either leads father would have made sense and created more drama)

The fiancee should have been a power hungry NK loyalist. She could of been involved in his brothers death but feels justified to marry lead guy. (Maybe ok because then he has to come home, settle down, and get on track to be a political bad ass. But he abandons them all to get distance and investigate brothers murder)

They should have dropped the sibling inheritance battle and just made her opposition the mother. Would have fit the abandonment backstory and been a huge trigger if her mom left her in NK. Would have also been a huge motivation to get back to SK to thwart her mother's plans. It would have been a great chance to give Seri a NK birth origin. Then the fated romance could have really been like destiny correcting itself.

What I really would have changed more than anything was the ending. You can suspend logic and reality to give the leads a lifetime of sh*t obsticals but at the end that is supposed to be satisfying? I was hoping for that undeniably happy ending that defies logic to give a satisfying and well deserved blissful conclusion. It was just so satisfyingly generic to me *angry ugly crying*.

I admit I'm way more harsh on dramas that have great characters and concepts but have poor exacution/development. So the fact I'm irritated enough to comment means it had brilliant potential. But I just don't think it was overall that great of a drama. My rewatch potential ranking isn't even that high. If this is what is mainstream 10/10 romcom is considered I'm feeling sad. Like I'm going to be disappointed a lot because the majority dictates trends :(

Lmbo tbh this story feels like something a tween/teen girl wrote after reading her mom's copy of Fifty shades while listening to nightcore haha! It's like wow very cringy fluff in pocket full of red flags. I actually laughed because I'm not triggered by fantasy Rom com cliches that make more cerebral fans puke. But I really did expected more vocal responses over it than I've seen so far lol. It's nonsensical fun but I can say probably not every person's cup of tea...or coffee lol!

Title Love with Flaws Spoiler
I'm going to have to put this on hold until it's done airing. I don't know why but the leads just feel off. I love the actors but I don't particularly think they were cast well for these roles. Ahn Jae Hyun is handsome but not as ridiculously handsome as they have played out at the start. And I'm sorry but Oh Yeon Seo is way to pretty to belive a pair of sweats and ponytail are going to make her unattractive. I mean the concept is that she is less beautiful than her brothers but honestly i think they are attractive but not so much more than their sister the ridiculousness that happens would be believable. Also the poop gag is just ugh. It makes AJH character so unattractive with his overly insecure but oddly narcissistic personality. I get the comedy shtick but what an unfortunate and uncomfortable storyline for a FML character. Feels like something a secondary character would bring in as comic relief. The main love story is just so cringy it's making me irritated and then I can't enjoy the side stories either. Ugh.

didn't think the ending would be that deep after reading this article. i simply thought of he came back so happy…
It's the poor adaptation from manga as a medium to drama that causes those questions about the author and why they are characters. If we were reading the webtoon it would be obvious and ironic who created the characters and why they exist. I myself didn't feel that the story was set in a manga world, nor that the transitions between stage and shadow did much to add to the emersiveness of their situation. I actually think if they had just made the characters "drama characters" they could have had a lot more fun playing off the cliches and other ironic humor. But thats just my perspective lol.

Lmbo I also wanted to add that a lot of fans seem to give this drama a good review for originality when tbh it reminds me of Wreck it Ralph lmbo. I almost wish the director had taken cues from Wreck it Ralph how to distinguish between stage and Shadow visually. Less explanation and more visual dynamics. Also could have took notes how to integrate a real world feel withouth ever losing the manga world feel. But that's my opinion lol

Spot on! Pretty in line with my own review of the show. I was waiting the entire time to reveal the author or some twist to explain why they were trapped in a book (like a curse idk) so that everything the "dried squid fairy" said could be nullified! But nope I just realized since the original story was a webtoon they just did a poor job conveying the feeling of being in a comic. Maybe if they had made it feel more like a manga world the ending wouldn't feel so cruel? I doubt it because literally every character stated at their lowest point that not knowing and being an unhappy puppet was less torture than self realization. I don't know how you can throw those depths of emotions at viewers and expect that we would be happy knowing they will be stuck in the same cycle for eternity or written out of existence. Super bleak imho!

There are those who don't want this drama to have romance or too much romance. I don't know how to break this…
Every time I see a comment about to much focus on romance I laugh. Tbh that is what the Hong sisters are best known for is fluffy unconventional romances. The main storyline pretty much always is secondary to the romantic storyline between the lead couple. Even if the drama as a whole turns out to be bad, if you love fluffy romantic comedies every Hong sister drama has at least a couple squee iconic scenes. So I'd think people would know by now romance is a given?!

It's too dramatic but also funny. I have no idea why some people call it a horror. Also its not similar to Goblin,…
Goblin is the fantasy/supernatural gold standard right now. Until a new unique popular drama comes out to dethrone it (possibly Kim Eun Sook' s new drama in 2020?) the comparisons will be automatic.

As for the age thing I honestly think people are more Noona romance drama phobic than even 10 years ago! I mean it's always been a little controversial (hypocritically so imho) but people seem more vocally about disgust with older women and younger guys relationships. Maybe it is prejudice carried into fantasy land? :(

I really want to love this like The Master's Sun or My Girlfriend is a Gumiho but it's already starting out with so much CGI and SFX! I've been on a drama pause and literally know nothing about this drama production. Please tell me that this has at least been partially pre-produced?! I don't think my heart can take another week to week of a over budget, behind scheduled, compromising quality drama. I love romcom fluff, especially fantasy/supernatural, so I know I will love elements. But I tbh as beautiful as it is the heavy handed visual elements sunk A Korean Odessey. Even the amazing cast and great soundtrack couldn't salvage the convoluted story as it limped by week to week. I love the Hong sisters visions but they have been having issues executing grand vision productions IRL time constraints. If this vision depends a lot on visual effects/costumes/props and less on story/character development idk. I was kind of hoping their next production was a little more cheesy low budget in visuals again so they would focus on the story elements/character development more.

This could be a grand entrance though and as it goes they bring it down a few notches so I'm wishing them luck! Though bahaha I can almost guarantee the romance storyline of the ML and FL will be the show focus over the main storyline. And there will probably be enough out of the gate romantic push and pull to induce whiplash. I mean it's the Hong sisters! It's their specialty imho! Just my thoughts though.

Wow, I'm probably one of the few people who actually found this a bit unlikable, lol. I might just be too old…
It's not an age thing it's a "wtf were they thinking?" thing! I love, love, love the ItaKiss storyline. So I actually really love seeing adaptations of the story. But these new movie length formats are just ugh! I didn't care for the newer Japanese movies because it was just to much back to back key scenes without the character development needed to really feel the heart of the story. So I'm totally at a loss as to whom thought it would be a good idea to take the ISWAK version (arguably the most detailed/drawn out adaptation) and cram even more content into a smaller time frame!

I do understand the need to update story/perspectives for younger generations. I honestly didn't like Meteor Garden as an adaptation but loved the thought and fresh perspective put behind the story/characters. I wish they had just dumped much of the original storyline and created something inspired but new. I thought MG trying to mesh the old core story with the new story was too nonsensical/awkward. But I at least understood what they were trying to accomplish with it. This movie adaptation was a head scratching mess for me! Plus they added some unnecessary characters/scenes that really detracted from the flow of the story.

For example Zhi Shu's parents! Mama Jiang is not perfect enough and daddy Jiang is too perfect! TBH Mrs. Jiang is supposed to be the Female version of Zhi Shu a sort of housewife savant. So seeing servants was awkward. Like the IRL mama Jiang would have already felt way to deficient not being allowed to do many things by her children so why would she allow anyone else do the little she does get to do? It kind of defeats her life's purpose. Mr. Jiang tbh is too perfect. The reason he is usually portrayed homely physically and awkward is because he is the opposite to his wife. She is beautiful and talented next to his awkward but genuine kindness. That is why the Mom wants someone like that for her son. A person who is not perfect, but is kind, devoted and will love him in all his obnoxious perfectionism.

I know it seems like Mrs. Jiang and Xiang Qin have a lot in common in other versions. But in reality they are completely opposite and that is why they actually get along so well in the original story lol. I know that seems knit picky but it was the first truly unnecessary change that made me cringe as a ItaKiss fan. Her control freak perfectionism explains a lot without external narrative needed as to why her son is so sheltered from real world and why he never really had to deal with the trouble Xiang Qin brings to his seemingly perfect world. Having multiple servants already adds external world intrusion to his safe space and less than perfect mom gives him previous insight how to deal with a person like Xiang Qin. It defeats the original purpose as to how befuddling the reality check Xiang Qin brings into his emotionally sheltered existance is imho.

Don't get me wrong the key scenes will be great, the premise will be great, there will always be cute and funny moments because ItaKiss storyline is cute and funny. If you have a short attention span or have never seen any other drama adaptations you'll probably like the Instafluff gratification these movies cater too. But to me it just feels so incomplete and pointless when the drama versions/anime do so much better a job telling the story and developing the characters. I really don't feel like the people who created this version tried to understand the true motivations and characters behind the superficial storylines. For me without this insight you have a fun mediocre story with extremely shallow or unlikeable characters. *sad*

Not sure why so many people disliked this drama or leads together? I mean ya it's not reinventing the wheel in terms of kdrama, it's a typical mediocre, fluffy rom-com. But it's has some pretty cute moments and I actually thought much of the awkwardness in the leads was endearing.

Melodramatic angst, lapse of logic, and lots of cliches but it was an easy watch for me. Like others have said it's nothing special but I found it entertaining enough to binge between other shows. I didn't have expectations so I found it to be decent as a huge fluffy drama fan. Nothing wow but better than a meh lol!

Oohh the ghost and Mrs muir would be an awesome kdrama!!
It's one of my favorite movies and I think it would be amazing as a Kdrama! That and Ladyhawke are my top recommendations because they could translate beautifully even if modernized.

Fushigi Yuugi is definitely the first anime I would recommend if I were to write an anime version of this article.…
I was in high school when the anime came out. I remember watching all episodes a few years after off P2P. Slow internet and sketchy rips ha ha it took commitment back then. But it would be a beautiful drama.
