I all agree with you π Even more the advertisement is too much π i know they are popular but every 10 min…
This! I was like how many product placements can they fit? And the answer was: yes. Cat food, printer, toothpaste, drink (would you know it's GMM series without Oishi? π), contact lenses, soy milk... I am starting to think that they decided to do this remake just to get money from product placement (it reminds of The Promise and skin care) - in other series they are not so many, so perhaps they thought since original was very popular and GemminiFort are also their stairs, so there will be a lot of people watching, ergo advertisers would jump on the opportunity. I am not sure if GMM thought this trough because right now there are plenty of BLs (like My Stand In), so people can choose what to watch (it's not 2018 when we got almost nothing) and this might turn them off of this series.
What I like in this adaptation is that there is no student-teacher storyline. Even though in the original it was one-sided from student's side it was still a part I really disliked.
I'm on EP07 and I just cannot with his simp ways π€¦ββοΈ His GF was basically slapping him at every turn and he kept coming back for more. What all the women here look like such a control freaks? Even son's "GF" seems to keep him on tight leash...
well i thought the 2nd and 3rd episodes were very good and you clearly can't please the adaptation purists because…
To be honest - isn't like that with basically all remakes? If you were to go to "Stay with me" page you would find people not liking this version in comparison with "Addicted Heroin" (soon to have TH remake) but I really liked it (I haven't watched original but having read novel's author works I know what happened... that is why I haven't watched it). Why? Because it was taking a different approach to the basis (which is novel). IMO if it's basically identical and you only get different actors it is very hard to make it interesting. Let's take 2Moons: I liked some parts of "S2" (ForthBeam π€) a bit more as they were not just focused on main CP but I think most of us watched it mainly because the airways were not as saturated with BL and beggars could not be choosers π€·ββοΈ
I dropped "Cherry Magic" TH but it was more like I wasn't fan of JP version as well (2nd couple was the only part I kind of liked in JP), so why force myself? I already know the trajectory and how it ends...
I'm on beginning of EP05 and I am not surprised that mother-in-law knew about the "witch". That lady should have sued the hospital because they certainly haven't cut the umbilical cord π€¦ββοΈ From the beginning she was mean/hostile towards her daughter-in-law but towards her son: on the one hand he could do no wrong but on the other she just has to spy on him (the anniversary spying was just sick). Her asking about what would Dr No do if it was Dohyun - so far Dr No wasn't psychotic towards him (as Mrs Hong is towards her son), so I am hoping that she would have decided not to lie (by omission) on his behalf. This is also something I don't get about Mrs Hong - she was clearly unhappy when similar thing was happening to her but she cannot get an ounce of empathy to Dr No?
I feel that he actually means taxis or uber? like he can't call a cab like in bangkok. i throught it was subtitles…
I started reading novel and they mentioned as well that there are no cars on this island. It's not so surprising to me, as there are islands, like Helgoland in Germany, that doesn't allow any cars (I think no vehicles with motor are allowed there - only bicycles), Gili island in Indonesia also only allows bicycles and I think that Jeju island in South Korea was supposed to have ban on "fuel operated" engines (I think electric cars were supposed to be allowed). If the island is small, then what is the point of cars? Basically they would get the supplies on little trolley and push/pull it to the destination.
EP01 Mut tells Rak, that there are no cars on the island. EP02 (when they went to get food on motorbike): cars in the background π (black on the left and white truck + in later frame white sedan on the right).
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make…
I think you are right. I think I mixed his name and the uncle from JL's mother's side, who has the shops with fabric (it's so hard to keeps so many names straight π ).
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make…
So now I am starting to doubt myself. Either he is: 1. He is one of JL's uncles from her father's side. The one from concubine (that is why the surname is different). His daughter is the one who is in the same academy and likes her cousin's fiance. 2. He is JL's uncle from mother's side. The one who had the shops with the "brocade" fabric.
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make…
Are you sure? I remember noting when in the series XFF was narrating about their punishment their names, so I thought it was for assisting you know whom (I have bad face memory - especially for minor characters, so perhaps I was mixing them?). I think that when the whole Jiang family was leaving, wasn't Jiang Yuan Xing with them? And isn't he father of JJR? Can you write more detailed spoiler pointing out the mistake, so that I can correct it? Thank you!
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make…
Thank you βΊοΈ I did it on my own and I am not part of any team I just sometimes get too OCD when something interest me π Like in one series I did a whole table of who hooked up with whom and how far they went (making out, flirting etc.) and in other (there I am in progress) I started pointing out differences between series and novel (as the series has many mini worlds where protagonist must solve the case to survive, I can easier compare each one and let me tell you from 2nd world the difference started to be huge).
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make…
I am glad you liked it βΊοΈ (I was worrying that perhaps I messed some "older" endings - like step-mother's, so if there are some mistakes, please let me know). I started writing it during EP40 and was constantly pausing it to get everything - I think it took me at least 2-3x time to watch it π
For those interested in spoiler (how it all ended for most of the major characters) β¬οΈSide note about "Li"…
Xiao Heng (Duke Su) - he was able to clear his father's name and after rebellion was sent to Dai country to make sure they are not going to attack them and if they did to "pacify" them but before leaving he married JL/XFF; was shown as last 3 standing in the battle with Dai country; was in the 1-on-1 with opposing general (?) who cut off his raccoon pedant but ultimately got killed by XH but then rest of the Dai army arrived, so XH bit on the string of the pedant and stood his ground; later rider with the pedant is shown coming to JL/XFF standing next to he tree; in special EP it is shown that they have daughter and are happily married [somehow alive π±]
Jiang Li/Xue Fang Fei - beloved in fake message from XH, so she got kidnapped by princess WN; SYR kind of rescued her (she saw the death of princess WN) but at he same time drugged her; was ultimately saved by general Xiao senior; went to XH to help him defeat SYR and she shot the arrow that made SYR loose the fish talisman (for Longwu Army); got married to XH and gave him the racoon jade pedant; they plant trea and XH is to return before it bloosoms; in the special EP she is teaching poetry at the School of Integrity (then presides over exam to it); is happily married and has daughter [alive]
Ye Shi Jie - he knows that it's XFF and not JL but is still on her side (in the end seems to be ok with her not choosing him as her romantic partner); wrote report after the rebellion to show who prince Cheng and princes WN really were, so that the rebellion of his troops can be squashed; later presides over entrance exam [alive]
Shen You Rong - after unsuccessful attempt to kill XH and getting arrow in the hand (palm), he played flute and then jumped of the city wall [suicide, dead]
Princess Wan Ning - she was supposed to eat fake poison (plan she was not aware of) but thought it was real and since the soup was from SYR, she thought that he poisoned her; she found SYR, gave him back the hair accessory (to his palm) and grabbed his hand holding the accessory, to stab herself [suicide, dead]
Ji Shu Ran - after her failed attempts to get rid of JL all her bad deeds came to light and she got crazy (confined to rural estate with maids to help her) [alive]
Jiang Yuan Bai - was on the emperor's HX side but after rebellion resigned from his post in the court and went (with his mother) to Yongzhou; apparently he knew (not clear how long) that JL dead and XFF was pretending to be her (XFF lied and told him that JL died peacefully) but asked XFF not to tell anybody else about it [alive]
Jiang Ruo Yao - got free from her mother's and ZYB's (she herd him badmouthing her and the illusion got broken + JL talked some sense into her) influence and left the estate to live in Yongzhou (from the letter she seems to be happy) [alive]
Jiang Jing Rui - ended up with LX in Yongzhou [alive]
Tong Er - stabbed during conflict to protect JL/XFF [dead]
Liu Xu - ended up with JJR in Yongzhou [alive]
Jiang Yu'e - married ZYB, was not treated well there but was confident that once she births son she would be fine; she stayed with ZYB after his head got smacked by JRY to get pregnant [alive]
Zhou Yan Bang - after his marriage to JY'e tried to force himself on JL but got stopped by JRY (piece of wood to the head style) and after that seems to be paralysed (it looked like he understood what was happening but could not speak or move his body) [alive]
Wen Ji - was shown as last 3 standing in the battle with Dai country; got shot full of arrows in the chest [dead]
Lu Ji - was shown as last 3 standing in the battle with Dai country; pushed WJ out of spears path and got stabbed by it but continued to fight for a bit [dead]
Lu Jin - was forced to marry princess WN and once she was murdered he accused emperor HX of doing it; got sentenced to death by emperor [executed, dead]
Li Lian - after loosing bet to JL he became a monk [most likely alive, as he was not shown in prison with his brother and father]
Li Zhong Nan - helped Prince Cheng with the rebellion; got sentenced to death by emperor [executed, dead]
Situ Jiu Yue - helped to quash Prince Cheng's rebellion; ended up with XZ [alive]
Concubine Li - Prince Cheng wanted to use her to make emperor HX surrender but she used the sword at her throat to kill herself and only asked XH not to let the emperor HX know about the made who knew that the possessions she used to kill another concubine were faked by her (emperor HX already knew about it, it seems) [suicide, dead]
Emperor Hong Xiao - was able to survive rebellion scot-free (physically) [alive]
Prince Cheng - in final showdown with XH he got stabbed by XH [dead]

Mrs. Yang (correction of name) - princess WN kidnapped her to force JYX to help her grab JL/XFF; got expelled from family registry (with her husband and children) [alive]
Madam Jiang - went with her son to Yongzhou [alive]
General Xiao senior - helped free XFF/JL and reconciled with his grandson (+makes XH serve him tea and drinks because he "was injured while saving his granddaughter-in-law" π) [alive]
For those interested in spoiler (how it all ended for most of the major characters) β¬οΈ
Side note about "Li" as per translation of the novel. In Jiang Li it is using character for pear (hence planting of pear tree, pear blossoms everywhere and pear soup). Xue Fang Fei' nickname also has "Li" but her nickname means raccoon (hence the jade pedant she got from the pawn shop has racoon on it).
in the novel, the only time they kissed was when XH admitted his feelings for JL. that was pretty much the only…
Well at least we got hand holding (what is worst: no kiss or dead fish kiss? π€). Have you seen any CH BL (after "Addicted")? In "The Untamed" we get them bowing in front of ancestors tablets (=marriage, but it's never explained and they even kind of separate them at the end) but other than that... NADA. In the novel they are more "untamed" when it comes to "juicyness" π€ In "Killer and Healer" we get following scene: ML1 received cravat from FL3 but he was not interested in her, so he - in front of FL3 - "gifted" it to MC1. On the other hand since MC1 was a doctor they did have more physical contact as MC1 needed to patch ML1. MC2 and ML2 actually sang opera together (about lovers but it was normal for only men to sing opera at he time) and you could clearly see how ML2 was obsessed at the end (even if he was marrying FL1 - that was a weird arc as neither was interested in the marriage or eachother). I highly recommend this show (+FL1 is truly likable and even FL2 gets better with time, FL3 is your typical scorned woman). "S.C.I." - would you know that there were actually 3 BL couples in novel? Not likely, as they changed ML2 to a woman and buried romance (except between her and MC2). At least they kept a bit of comedy with ML3 and MC3. "Word of Honour" actually had quite flirty ML but again - hand touching was out of the question. "Stay with me" (new adaptation of "Addicted") was produced in cooperation with other countries so we actually got "not-a-lip-balm" (it was 99% lube) and kiss on the cheek in dark classroom + it seemed like they slept in the same bed often (and maybe ML was trying to SA MC... some saw it as more of a roughhousing but it was due to jealousy and jealousy was quite palatable - especially from ML).
I'm like in the middle of EP22 and ML just got really creepy (I know that they are trying to sell his concern but it comes across as really alarming behaviour). Stalker much? Who wouldn't be weary of that? Even though same actor is ML in "The Double" - and he is more invasive in FL privacy - it somehow doesn't seem so bad there (perhaps because she is not uncomfortable with it). Yikes, just yikes! I hope he gets better because he was starting to creep me out a few EPs back and it just got worse π€
