I guess it is good for muffling the dialog that is also bland and goes on and on about nothing interesting.

I think it actually kills all drama. What a bizarre choice they made.
On As Beautiful as You Jul 5, 2024
There is something a bit limp with this show. Maybe it is pacing, or the overly PC dialog, but I think it is the OST, it is like the generic 'relaxation' music in a spa, it makes everything so anticlimactic .

yes… she never stops crying through the whole show or the never ending deer caught in the headlights looks!…
Thank you! I think I am dropping it. SK used to produce outstanding drama, but now when it became a global phenomenon it seems to produce more crap than anything else.
On Lovely Runner Jun 9, 2024
I am giving it a try because of the high rating, but is she going to keep behaving like mentally retarded ditz? And what’s up with winning cry? She is 30 not 3! I am getting really fed up with idiotic perky FML, without common sense gods gave to a goose :( It is just lazy writing.
This is not a type of show I normally watch, but LGJ dual role performance here is such a wow, I don't even care what it is about, his acting and physical abilities are enough to keep me watching. And I absolutely hate the queen, and wanted to ring her arrogant neck, but what a fantastic actress.
On Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo May 12, 2024
I gave it a try... so far except for some scenes with LJG and IU it is not working for me. LJG is fantastic, but though I love IU, she seems to be miscasted in this role. Is there some k-drama' rule that female time travelers must behave like artless, meddling, parochial idiots, and deliver moral platitudes most of the time ? Not that the rest of the characters are paragons of intellect and strategy, though. The drama is all over the place, dialogue is witless, events and characters behavior make no sense, production values are so so, pacing and story telling are total shit, the rest is unrelenting melodrama with tear jerking scenes . Drama has its moments, but they are few and far between.

I am a lawyer by training, to me, your take is so overboard it sounds like we watched 2 different dramas. If we start judging and prosecuting people for behavior like the FML's in this drama we would turn into Taliban. But we are not likely to see this in the same light. Have a nice day.

Wow. You sound like a prosecutor at a trial: falsely accused, coerced, stalked, and never atoned! Atone- hat did you want the drama to do - send her to prison? or make her wear a hairshirt and flog herself? This is so overblown it is unreal. As to "Why is he always the one catering to her needs" - he isn't in the least. But whatever. Let's just agree to disagree.

I have no idea what Chinese censorship promotes, but it sounds to me that you think that if someone freaks out during attempting sex they should be portrayed as bad at their job to be acceptable as characters. Or if they are good at their jobs they should be good at everything else too.... In my experience such paragons of 360* virtue don't exist on nature :)

I didn't get it as an attempt to paint them as role models at all. I understood it as a story of two very complicated people, each with very complicated past , dealing with complicated choices. They both has been burned in relationships, they both had been hurt beyond what is common in their youth; and they both were afraid: he of loving her, she of changing her life to accommodate him. It is not an uncommon situation, in my experience. Her outburst 'don't force me' - was nasty BUT it came from shear panic, it was not because she was manipulative, or cruel, or anything like that. It was pure panic, triggered past trauma, and more, and he understood it when she explained. I think , for me the moral of the story is similar to 'not everything shining is gold' here not everything that looks damaged, or nasty really is nasty. That is my take on it.

It was not meant to be. If you are not familiar with this saying, it means that every human has their own unique and particular way of seeing the world, that depends on huge number of factors, like where and how one grew up, what has happened in their life, and on and on. The way we see things and feel about things is not as another individual would . So if you, for example, see the situation as toxic, it doesn't mean that the ML saw it the same way, or it was meant as toxic by the writers, or that ALL others would see it that way. Maybe some even will, maybe not, maybe they are right, maybe not, but regardless it is all personal perception.

Nothing personal. I was not in love with it either. Not after the 18th ep, but for different reasons.

As I said it is all in the eyes of the beholder.

I think the word toxic is now in first place in all overused words in the english language . None of them are toxic, like not at all. But hey - it is all in the eyes of the beholder, as the saying goes each sees the world not the way it is, but the way they are.

This drama survives because of superb acting and comedy. Other than that it is really crappy, stuffed to the brim with tropes and product placement - it is like watching 16 hours of commercials with unconvincing class demagoguery. In what universe would a new employee constantly lecture her boss! on how to behave toward her and others? Or how is it possible for all her bosses to be clueless about the full extend of her qualifications - like languages, diplomas and so on? Or why would she try to pay for a dinner she was invited to, that costs more than her monthly pay , and then be shocked at the bill? - wouldn't she know the cost just by looking at 25 dishes, and steak and lobster? And why did they make ML such a klutzy woose? It is all so idiotic it is hard to swallow. Oh well. I watched it for Lee Jun Ho, but hope he gets better roles.

she is honest
No. She is not young. 18 is young, 20 , maybe 25 at a stretch. Then there comes a time when you are a mature adult not a young chick. There are more than 2 ages of a human being than young and old, She is not young nor she is old, she is a mature adult.

Same here. The endless discourse about life, death ,and fate got unbearable for me on the 18th ep and beyond
You seem to be posting the same thing twice... he didn't want to go to the city not because of his grandmother, who even considered moving to the city herself. He even delivers a speech on how important his job in town is. But whatever. He never even once suggested that he would move to the city if she was 'committed'. Besides, she was committed - just not to living a life on his terms. She was committed to her love, she loved him all her life. Maybe in your book it has no value, but in mine it does. I am not approving of the way she ran to the city without a word to him, but I am not condemning her either. It is what it is. The whole drama is about accepting majorly imperfect people, so why harshly judge a woman torned between love and the life she built for herself?
Replying to Nonsuch May 6, 2024
No, he doesn't 'deserve' better. Nobody 'deserves' anything in love. Love is not a gold medal for best behavior.…
I didn't see her torturing anyone, disability or not. I guess it is a matter of perception. I thought she was nice, and smart, and kind, and loving.. She just was not a goody two shoes as so many in c-dramas, who is ever so ready to do whatever to make her man happy. She was human, with her own insecurities and inner conflicts, not a fake perfect.

yeah, it is funny how often it is the woman who is expected to forgo her lifestyle, job ambition to follow the man ... I mean one of them had to move to make this work, but ...
