Avenue X has issues with age and sex. She had completely lost it over Hidden Love. Her reviews say more about her issues than about a drama.. She is like a school teacher you hate in school because she demands everything conforms to her own standards. She even criticized the drama for spending money outside of China - is she a party stooge or something?

I am not saying AASSOL is brilliant, for my personal taste it is a bit too moody and slow, and the billiard playing is a bit of a bore. But I appreciate the effort, and I appreciate WL acting. He is entering his grown up stage, and it is interesting to me to see how his talent is developing and maturing. There are several translations. One is really bad, but at least not offensive grammatically . The other it is so raw it even keeps mixing up genders, so you can never tell whether it is SHE who says or does something, or HE. As a result HE is constantly leaning on himself and kissing himself. All grammar is all over the place and some sentences make no sense, but it gives a better feel for the original.

Maybe it is the translation , but the novel is so amateurish, it is almost endearing in its lacking any literary merit . It is so badly written you can’t even critique it., you can only take it as is. As an added bonus, some words meant to convey passion and intense longing , are utterly hilarious , though I bet that was not the writer’s intention. It is interesting to watch how the drama fixes most of the novel’s hopeless writing. But frankly if not for WL I probably would have dropped it by now. He makes things come alive.

One of the girls wanted some help with a problem, so she started to flutter her eyelashes at me, make cute faces, and talk like she was 3. I think they are very similar. It is the same premiss: a brilliant man drops out of the field he is brilliant in because of some trauma or issue, but all is saved when he falls in love. The difference between the two is in details, type of sport and their ages., and who is the lead in what. Both even make the ML semi orphan.

They are not bad, they simply come from a very different school of acting. And besides, most of them have to speak English which is not their native tongue so it is hard,. WL seems to be quite fluent in English, though he has strong accent, but if he had to actually ACT in English instead of delivering a few phrases, his acting skills might not be shining through at all. Some of the European actors are also dubbed into Mandarine. For a foreign actor to have to annunciate something for dubbing into a foreign language is very hard, and would make their facial expressions and body language look off.
