I have a question: A lot of people describe this drama as slow burn romance. I always thought slow burn meant the romantic attraction between characters builds slowly over the course of a novel or series. Here this is not the case, he is in love with her at first glance and she is with him basically at her second, though it takes her a few weeks to realize it . So what makes it a slow burn then?
It is all a matter of personal taste and opinion, you obviously ship him with another CP, otherwise, you would…
Whom we like and whom we don't is a matter of personal taste. But acting like every other complex profession takes skills that are objective, and there is criteria by which it should be judged regardless. of whether we personally like the result or not.
It really bugs me when people try to sell their personal likes and dislikes as objective judgement of someone's professional worth . "Check the rating the serious just bad"? Because you and the likes pronounced it to be so? Who cares?
"Horrendous", 'no comedic talent" "how poor his acting performance " - if a person doesn't provide any criteria by which they judge (and maybe they don't have any except their own likes and dislikes ) then it is abuse, hate, just venting a childish displeasure, like a toddler who spits food they don't like and throws a tantrum .
Of course we are entitled to expressed what we like or dislike, to enjoy or not. But there is so much viscousness on this board it starts to beg the question what the hidden motivation of all this burning hate is.
I am just started this drama, only 3 ep. It seems enjoyable but I am disturbed by the ML;. OK he is nice looking…
What do you mean by comic potential? People keep saying things like that but they never articulate exactly what they mean. What would you rather have him do?
Dude has super high EQ. Haha, maybe he was born with it?The actor himself is known for being someone of high EQ…
Oh I agree , some people have more inborn natural abilities in things than others , and we all are born with some sort of character tendencies in place, not as blank slates. But I understood the original comment to be about his 'romantic' experience of a very particular kind. :) - hence my response. As to being overly kind and taking care of others because of his early hard life, in my experience that can go both ways. Being rejected in childhood or teens often produces the opposite. But this drama is not very psychological, so it is hard to really judge.
It depends. Many people here love it to bits. If you like overdosing on soft meringue with double sugar there…
I totally get it. There are dramas that i love others hate. There are dramas I know to be very flawed, but they make me feel good, so I like them. And there are dramas still that I can appreciate for their quality but they leave me cold. It can be many things that make us like or dislike.

Nobody is born with it, it is impossible without experience, nor it is not about EQ or being polite in real life. Actors are directed where and how to put their hands, how to kiss, and how to look and move. And WL is 24, he is a grown man.
I just wanna be honest and say that song kangs acting in this drama is horrendous and his looks literally save…
What do you consider doing comedy 'properly'? I personally can't stand standard Korean version of comedy acting, . I find all that gushing emotions that Korean actors love to display, wild facial expressions, all sort of equilibristics, and crazy vocal stuff a major turn off. To me it is cringe worthy.
I need an honest opinion, is this really good?I like WuLei but honestly the synopsis kinda sounds uninteresting.…
It depends. Many people here love it to bits. If you like overdosing on soft meringue with double sugar there is a lot of it. Cute, adorable, sweet. WL is full of tenderness and restrained longing. If you are looking for interesting writing, memorable dialogue, compelling characters, original plot where all details make sense then it is probably not going to give you what yo want. It is a Mary Sue type of writing , a wish fulfilling fantasy of a perfect guy who would do anything for a naive and cute girl for no other reason but love. Avenue X trashed production, plot, and dialog it in her review. At first I thought she was way too harsh, but after having watched 14 eps I think she has a point.
It depends if you are in the mood for a slow burner romance drama staring beautiful people
I used to direct a small theatrical group where we produced translated into English plays. I guess it gave me a bit of 'professional' eye, that is hard to turn away 😄. Great chatting with you!

I like LYY character as in what sort of man he is *meant* to be, and WL is great. But the way teh character is written is a little hard to believe: he is this genius, he is good at everything (but having a conversation apparently); he is liked by basically everybody, almost everybody is rooting for him, he is dashing back and forth 7 hours each way to be with her, but he is still getting job offers, get PhD admissions, and runs his billiard club - where he coaches everybody for free and never takes a cut of their winnings) . He is thrifty and going broke, but he takes her to very expensive restaurants, books endless hotels, cars, vacation on a island to stargaze for 10 minutes where he just happens to have a telescope in the trunk of his car that looks like it would cost thousands. He drinks 2 bottles of hard liquor and goes on to play and win a pool game. Normal people will be in a hospital with liver failure from that amount of alcohol. It is so overboard it makes him unreal. It makes the relationship unreal and hard to believe. Plot is another problem: you simply have to have some sort of obstacle, conflict, something that needs a resolution, otherwise there is no story. Apparently there is something in his past, but we are at half point in the drama and it has not been brought into real focus. There is more but this is getting way too long :) It is a first time WL is playing a sexually charged role and it is attractive. But it is not enough to make a good drama, imo.

Thank you. As I mentioned I really like WL. He, in my view, is a fascinating actor, with gravitas, and charisma seldom seen in someone that young. I am annoyed by this drama, because no matter how impressive an actor is, he can't do more than what is on the page. Dramas only work if they have several mandatory elements. It is not a matter of opinion, or taste, or enjoyment. It is sort of the same as a human needing to have a head, a body, arms and legs to function normally. From what I have seen up to ep 15, this drama has missed delivering several major elements . I am annoyed that he, and the FM too btw, are not given better material to work with. I mean it is cute and adorable, but it is not enough . I hope it picks up in the second part .
I feel because it’s an interpretation and translation issue. Some Chinese language can’t be translated literally…
Yes, but unfortunately we have to rely on translation, and if it is cringeworthy and the original it not, the translation is doing a disservice to the drama .

Yes. I have done professional translation work, so it is a bit of a sore point with me, how translation can completely alter the original work. Automated subtitles in particular can be alarmingly bad.

To start with I am not whining and complaining, I am sharing my impression. If you have a problem with it, well so be it. I like WL , and have been following his career, so it is interesting for me to see him in a different role. But just because I find him very talented and sexy doesn't mean my brain is switched off , and I am rendered incapable of judging the value of the production and quality of writing - or lack of it. Hope that answers your rant. And btw I drop dramas all the time too.
