I just started watching it . 6 eps in, it is fun with gods and monsters, but the FL, as it is os often in k-drama, is a total ditz. She was somewhat interesting before her love sage appeared, but as soon as he got there she turned into a wide eyed 2 dimensional non entity, complete with innocent gaze, tiny voice, pensive expression, 2 penny goodness, and a general inability to have normal emotions, nor do much of anything other than being saved. - all that and behaving like a complete clueless idiot in most situations. I get this is a plot device, but it is very boring to watch her. Drama is still somewhat fun though, thanks to ML, who is great, and the supporting cast of monsters.
that's the point. it is ridiculous. they all just forget about the murdered dead girl. this is satire at it's…
Hmmm. Satire on what, K-drama? It was a feel good moralistic ending, not much satire there imo. As not to Never forgetting kim hyena... It is a drama not a documentary, she is not real. I personally have other things to remember forever 😎.
I would agree with you however it’s a Korean drama and Korean office hierarchy is notorious. She does that to…
Yes, all cultures have dark sides to them, and natives normally don't notice it as much as the outsiders. Edward T Hall - one of the founding minds of the cross cultural field wrote "Culture hides much more than it reveals, and strangely enough, what it hides, it hides most effectively from its own participants."

I loved Misaeng, It was brutal, but to me it was honest and heartbreakingly human. Maybe this drama doesn't quite work for me because it is supposed to be a romantic love story, and her behavior makes me dislike her.

I see what you mean., Actually it even gives a bit of insight into some conflicts that sometimes happen in multicultural Western companies between employees and bosses from different cultures. But cultural or not, personally I still find it appalling and dehumanizing.
Funny thing, watching this drama dubbed instead of subtitled allows to watch facial expressions and interactions much better. It made me realize that the FL is a little too self-involved . Giving ML useless work just because she got hots for him which she tries to cover up; keeping him up with her stupid 'research" several nights in a row, and on and on - that is abuse of power. And after all that HE brings her dinner and she complains about toppings! And her behavior in the restaurant hiding under the table... geez. She is in her mid thirties, for goodness sakes! A little dignity and savvy? And as leaders go she is a nightmare . Who would not want to work for a boss like that?
This drama has everything I should love: costumes, wigs, awesome historical sets, political intrigue, martial…
I am with you. I wish the drama stayed the course with comedy and didn't transgress into political intrigue, and greek tragedy territory with prophecies and filicide. In a comedy the extremely stupid or implausible behavior by most of the characters worked, but in the context of a full on drama it made little sense. And the blabbermouth willful glutton of a child makes no sense at all in a political drama. Great little actress though.
Funny, I literally couldn't stand her. She comes across as a sanctimonious psychopath. And she is arrogant and dumb. OTOH some of the plot twists absolutely defy any belief, so maybe she needed to be that dumb to fit the story.
If most k-dramas are to be believed, Korean parents are the absolute worst. If they are not hyper ambitious tyrants, then mothers are unreasonable hysterics , while fathers are delinquents. Amazing really.
This drama is so strange. I see that it is well written and well shot, but it is so limp, so lacking energy... it is like watching a banana slug cross the road. Many characters feel off putting, and the whole documentary thing is just weird, and a little creepy. What am I missing?
Ahh you need a break from korean dramas.. watch it after some months you will love it.. i was also tired of watching…
I believe you! I am just thinking with globalization, and popularity of kdramas in other cultures will younger generation of women ever get tired of behaving like that? It is just so cheesy,!
I tried to enjoy this drama, it seemed it could be fun, loved the premises, and juxtaposition of FL tiny size with her might. But I am on 4th ep, and I feel like giving up. All because of the way FL is written and acted. I just don't get this korean obsession with majorly fake cuteness - I underline *fake*. I have seen several korean actresses who, imo, are naturally so adorable, they literally shine on the screen without the artifice of pouting, feigning naivete, making faces, and constant high pitched HUH? in between of throwing tantrums. Why is the majority of young female roles are written as clueless idiots, with a self awareness of a 2 years old? To me it looks irredeemably fake, manipulative, pretentious, and frankly stupid. I wonder if Korean actresses themselves are getting sick of this caricaturization and infantilization of women...

I am sorry for your loss of 10 bucks, but I for one happen to think it was well worth it. I don't think she " should've had someone else manage the museum, not do it herself" is relevant, and it would not have worked for the drama. It is not a drama about business. It is about a 2 people from the worlds so different, they start out with zero appreciation for each other's values, and in fact with a considerable disdain for them. But they fall in love and discover the other side of thing. The dynamics of their relationship works brilliantly. Who really gives a hoot about managing the museum, or a or his pig business,. they matter only as vehicles to show their differences and their relationship. .

yes you do need training, or alternatively you need experience where you had failed a lot. If you think that running a profitable business is a inborn quality you are mistaken. She knows stuff about art that very few people do, she is brilliant in her own field. To expect her to become proficient at business overnight under horrendous conditions is crazy. And also this is a comedy for goodness sakes, and it works brilliantly as a drama-comedy. No need to analyse these things to death.
I just noticed that Netflix dubbed this drama into English, but the dubbing and captions don't always match and some differences are impactful enough . I wonder which one is closer to the original.
Does Dali at any point start resolving her issues on her own or does she financially depend on the ML?If is it…
She doesn't have any issues. What she is dealing with are not personal issues. She is being brutally and secretly driven into bankruptcy by powerful men who want her land. She is up agains what amounts to organized criminals with political and finacial power. She is alone, with no background in business let alone dirty business, she is doing everything she can and then some with dignity and humanity. Nobody can deal with this kind of stuff alone, unless you are some wonder woman with magical powers.
