Same but I think Chef John is too superficial and focused on his image. Although he says it’s all about chemistry…
Oh, yeah. He's very stuck on himself. But I would still be all for it if they had him fall for Ji Wan and experience some character growth. Again, it's not going to happen, but I would love it, lol.
On Love Is for Suckers Nov 13, 2022
I can't lie. A Ji Wan/Chef John pairing would kind of be everything, lol. They're not going to do it, but I'm 100% on board if they did.

I have a movie spoiler that I think people are going to want to know about before watching this movie. See reply…
The male lead cheats. He makes out with another woman and almost sleeps with her. And he never tells his wife. It's treated somewhat nonchalantly.

Okay, first of all.... the love for Kang Chae-Ri on this comment section is because she's an interesting character-…
I think she's eventually not going to be able to get away with these antics anymore. She's gonna cross one line too many. I wouldn't be surprised if cast members from season 1 start coming out of the woodwork and saying she took advantage of them.

I 100% think that's where things are going. Not blackmailing her into it, but inserting her into the show without telling her, just like she added the secret footage to ep 1.

Yes! Did everyone who is saying she did it for her career get amnesia about why she was asking him in the first…
Nah, I figured my comment would get a strong reaction. There are lots of people upset with Yeo Reum's choices, so it's makes sense they wouldn't agree with my take.

This^. She filmed that fight between cast members in season 1 that ended in an exposed boob, and she thought it was totally okay to air it, so it's not at all out of the realm of possibility for her to engage in this sort of behavior. There was a reason, after all, that the higher up guy put Yeo Reum on the production team.

I think Kang Chae Ri re-edited that first episode on purpose to help FL get her shit together, not just raise…
I don't know how anyone can watch Chae Ri's behavior and think she has any kind of altruistic motive. Everything she's done so far has been 100% in service of herself.

Maybe she could have given a better explanation to Jae Hoon, such as 'We have a situation. A cast member revealed something deeply personal that really shouldn't be aired on TV, but Chae Ri is insisting on using it anyway unless I can convince both of you to kiss each other. I would never ask this of you if it weren't very serious. Are you willing to help us?' And of course, she would need to give that explanation to Ji Yeon as well. But I think that then runs Yeo Reum into the problem that she's now spoken ill of another producer to the cast, and that could create issues with the production. I don't know. But I don't think Chae Ri can be reasoned with. She wants her drama, and she's going to get it.

And you're right, Chae Ri didn't make up Ji Wan's confession. She just tried to use it as entertainment fodder instead of treating it as a truly horrific act of violence. That's despicable.

Ji Wan is what the Japanese call a Hikkikomori (I believe she uses the term in reference to herself in ep 7). Hikkikomori are people who completely shut themselves away from society entirely. They never leave their homes, they interact with very few people, if anyone at all. They live like modern day hermits. According to Ji Wan, she's lived this way for years, only recently deciding she's ready to come out into society again. This means she is going to have very little understanding of social rules or structures, expectations, how to interact with other people, and basically zero ability to interpret other people's behavior. She simply cannot be expected to somehow say and do the right thing at all times, given her background. And actually, it's not a realistic expectation of anyone. It's a human impossibility to be constantly on, to always be aware of every little thing you might say, always be aware of how someone else might use it. Cameras being there don't matter, especially since we know that the longer someone spends being followed by cameras, the more their conscious and subconscious minds forget the cameras are even there. Because you would have to forget they are there in order to be able to function day to day. The other cast members are probably a little better at handling this situation than Ji Wan since none of them have lived as shut ins, and they are probably more used to the attention, but I guarantee even they are not 100% aware of themselves at all times and probably have/probably will say or do things they wouldn't want exposed.

Indeed, I do not disagree. I was surprised at the angry comments about Yeo Reum, that there was so little empathy…
I'm okay with Jae Hoon thinking she's doing it for selfish reasons, because he just doesn't have the information we have. Knowing that they kissed once before, and she ran away from it then, I can understand how this rejection would hurt even more. I just don't think it's fair for us as the audience to point fingers at Yeo Reum when the entire situation was created by Chae Ri. This is Chae Ri's fault, no matter what missteps or not so great decisions being made by our leads.

Actually, I said she would Only accept a bargain of some sort, a bigger piece of juicy drama in trade for not airing Ji Wan's confession. But as we saw in ep 8, even once Chae Ri did get the kiss scene she wanted, she still went back and added in her own secret footage, creating a mystery woman Jae Hoon might have kissed. This shows that she's not actually willing to work with others in a professional manner or have any respect for boundaries (or ethics). She'll maneuver to get what she wants, and then she'll find a way around any agreements she's made to get more. I'm positive, if that footage with Ji Wan hadn't been deleted, Chae Ri would have at the very least pocketed it to save for a later episode once everyone's forgotten about it and thinks it's not going to be used. I also have a strong feeling she's potentially going to add Yeo Reum to the show at some point without her consent and reveal that her and Jae Hoon secretly have feelings for one another. Because That would be drama fodder that would get the ratings up.
On Love Is for Suckers Oct 28, 2022
I'm frankly pretty pissed by a lot of the recent comments on here. Everybody is pointing fingers at Yeo Reum calling her selfish, etc. for the kiss situation, when Chae Ri is the one at fault. I know everyone looooooves her character (I think she's well-written and compelling, but she's an awful person), but this is ridiculous. Ji Wan shared about the most vulnerable and horrifying thing to have ever happened to her (Repeatedly. When she was a child.), and Chae Ri saw that as an opportunity to create entertainment fodder. She's made it abundantly clear from the beginning that she does not respect Ji Wan or see her as a person of value and worth, and that attitude was fully on display in episode 7. It's utterly disgusting.

I am not the slightest bit mad at Yeo Reum for asking Jae Hoon to do the kiss. All the comments saying it's for the sake of the show are frankly fallacious. It's for the sake of Ji Wan. PERIODT. Yeo Reum is trading with Chae Ri in the only currency Chae Ri uses and respects, and that makes perfect sense to me.

Sure, she could have stood up to Chae Ri and told her 'We're not doing this.' She's on this production team specifically because Chae Ri needs to be reined in, after all. But who here genuinely thinks Chae Ri would actually listen? I don't. I think Chae Ri would laugh in Yeo Reum's face all the way to the editing table. In fact, she basically did in ep 7 when Yeo Reum tried to talk her out of it. And no, going to the higher-up who put Yeo Reum on the production team for the show is NOT an option, because that would mean revealing Ji Wan's personal trauma to him (and probably more people by proxy, because it would probably then become an HR issue). Her personal story which she shared in a moment where she felt safe to do so/because she felt that she owed an explanation (which is sad in and of itself that she felt like she had done something so wrong that she had to reveal such a terrible wound) would now go through the rest of the cast, the production team, HR, and a bunch of other random people at the company who aren't even involved. Yeo Reum is protecting Ji Wan's privacy in the only way she can, and I RESPECT her for that.

Yeah, it sucks that she's been pushed into a corner in order to deal with this problem, and I think this will probably end up becoming part of her characters growth process. She's gonna have to learn how to stand her ground when she knows she's right and exercise her authority. Because she does have authority, but she doesn't believe in it, so other people don't either. But the exact reason Yeo Reum is so likable is because she's willing to sacrifice herself for the well-being of others. THIS IS PEAK GOALS IN TERMS OF CHARACTER QUALITY WHATMOREDOYOUWANTPEOPLE!!!

As far as Jae Hoon is concerned, I'm pretty positive he is going to find out why Yeo Reum asked him to do that, and he's not going to be mad anymore once he does. Because Jae Hoon is a man of character, and if he had known about it himself, HE probably would have offered himself up for a kiss scene to protect Ji Wan. Because again, he is a man of character willing to sacrifice himself for the well-being of others. WHY DO WE NOT WANT CHARACTERS LIKE THIS IDONOTUNDERSTAND?!?!??!?!

And guys! It got us a kiss between the main leads! A good kiss! Why are we mad about that?!?!

I just finished my first rewatch of this (I will definitely be rewatching it multiple times in future), and gosh do I love this drama. In fact, I like it even more now than the first time I watched it. If you like cute, fluffy, sweet romance with dashes of heartfelt emotion (romantically speaking and otherwise), I highly recommend this.
On Love in Contract Oct 23, 2022
I'm dropping this. I thought about doing it at ep 5 but decided to give it another try, and....it wasn't worth it. As much as I love the male lead and the main romance, I find almost everything else about this drama frustrating or just plain uninteresting. The second male lead started off fine before becoming unendurably frustrating. And I don't actually dislike him. I just dislike all of his choices in regard to the female lead. I also don't buy this whole 'I'm under such pressure from my rich family.' He's a famous actor! He has his own freaking money, his own penthouse apartment, an entire team answering his beck and call! There is literally nothing his family can do to him. As for the female lead, I don't understand any of the choices the writers have made in regard to her. The confusing way they've handled her relationship with Yoo Mi Ho (Seriously, is Yoo Mi Ho out to get her or secretly a doting mother who doesn't know how to express her feelings? Please make a decision, show.), the way they've set up all this potential conflict in her life because of her career but then not really followed through on any of it, how they've chosen to create tertiary conflicts that aren't interesting or useful to the story. At this point, there's very little that I find redeeming about this show, and I've already hit my 'I'm watching too many dramas right now and need to drop or finish one' limit, so this one has to go.

Hope everyone else continues to enjoy this drama, but I'm outie 5000.

Title Love in Contract Spoiler
I started ep 5 this evening, and I just have to rant for a minute. Spoilers in comment below.
Ep 5 makes me want to drop this drama. I knew she was going to end up in contract relationships with the male lead and the second male lead, and while I love the trajectory between her and the male lead, the way the contract is coming about with the second male lead is frustrating to no end. First, he tells those paparazzi they're getting married without asking her if she's willing to help him out, then he tries to guilt-trip her to go along with it when she makes it clear she doesn't want to do it. And it's making me really dislike him. If the second contract had been framed differently, if I felt more sympathy for the second male lead, if he were the male lead instead, I could probably go with it. This is part of the bread and butter of many a romance story, after all, and if I didn't enjoy these sorts of setups I wouldn't watch/read romance stories. But there's something missing in this equation, and I'm not getting the same answer as this drama's writers. (And if they pull some kind of nonsense 'My mother isn't safe with my family, and pretending I'm married will protect her for unexplainable reasons' I'ma flip a table like Jesus. You're a rich celebrity with a penthouse apartment, you knob. Just move her in with you!)

But you know what really burns my grits, what I think is truly, stupendously stupid writing??? Sang Eun helps Madam Yoo out of prison, offers her home as a place for Madam Yoo to stay, and then when Madam Yoo tries to take charge and start running Sang Eun's life again, Sang Eun PRETENDS TO BE MARRIED TO A THIRD PERSON!!!!!

Faaaaaaam! What is you doing?! I can get the purpose of creating a second relationship contract, even if I don't like how it's playing out, and I can understand choosing to help this woman out even though she was such a cruel person to you. But I don't understand the writing choice of having Sang Eun pretend to be married to a third person in a circumstance that does not require a lie at all. She has absolutely no reason to give in to Madam Yoo's demands Or to lie about being married to a third person. Madam Yoo has no claim on her anymore. In fact, she is now Indebted to Sang Eun, and all Sang Eun had to do was say 'No. No, I am not doing that. Enough is enough. I'm offering you a place to stay, but you will not be directing my life. My life is mine. So stay out of my life or get out of my house.'

Of course, it probably doesn't help that I think the weakest part of this whole drama is the whole weird dynamics and mystery surrounding Madam Yoo and Sang Eun's upbringing and the random connection to Hae Jin's family. If this were just a simple story about Sang Eun juggling these two contract relationships while falling in love with our male lead, maybe with a side of Madam Yoo and Sang Eun coming to an understanding of each other. I think this would work better.
