I have the feeling you believe she is a strong and potent woman and that almost is the reason for you this drama is good. But I shall say I beg to differ :-D. I do no doubt her strong personality, her intellectual abilities and her ruthlessness. You have to be good to be reigning in the place of the King while he is retired practicing Kung Fu to reach 8th realm. So surely she must be competent in governing affair and having people killed.
Anyway I doubt her emotions and her ability to make a right decision when she cannot deal with them anymore. Truth is from the very beginning, she failed to cope with them. When she knew her lover Liang Jinmeng was talking with Zhangsun Qianxue and this one convinced him the reform he was leading was unfair to the people and he gave up the reform and gave her the black sword...she just went mad and she did not take the time to ask for explanation from her lover. She just assumed he cheated on her and she decided to betray him and have him killed. Is that the doing of a strong woman?
After she learnt Liang Jinmeng was back and reincarnated into Ding Ning, she started to doubt herself again, doubt her feelings and fidelity to the king and after what she did, she went to look for him. She went to fight Zhangsun Qianxue out of jealousy because Zhangsun Qianxue and Ding Ning were lovers but what? Ding Ning is not Liang Jinmeng. He is the past of Liang Jinmeng and the Ding Ning of 10 years after the death of Liang Jinmeng. Zhangsun Qianxue was not the young girl admiring or fascinated by Liang Jingmeng anymore. They both lived 10 more years together and fell for each other. But she could not see that. Just her lost love or the betrayal she could not assume. She killed Zhangsun Qianxue out of jealousy and she threw herself on the sword of Ding Ning because after he sliced her cheek she knew her love was lost forever. Her last words were just a scream of desperation. She knew she could trade her death or her soul, she would never get back the love she betrayed and which died 10 years ago. That was pathetic and just laughable from her side.
So for me Ye Zhen is a weak character and the cause of all this mess. Even Ye Celeng who was a young apprentice of Liang Jinmeng and was exiled she is a stronger character for choosing her fight and her fate despite she met friends and a one sided love for her. In the end, I thought the turn of events which made Ye Zhen take the front stage and the King escape any punisjment for his crimes and cowardice this was very unfortunate and quite terrible... like they ran out of budget and needed a closure asap.
He is not a time traveler, he is not from the future and he does not have "knowledge from the 21the century". If you want to know you should just keep watching it.

I hope there won't be any polygamy for Fan Xian. It would be disappointing from him. But I am pretty sure he will have several girlfriends and partners.
o don't be its all according to plan. With Fan Xian mentality, i can pretty much predict that.
Second Prince and his guard came to threaten him and expose their intentions and they let him the whole night to think. Surely he did not spent the night sleeping and snoring waiting to be in a dead end in the morning. I did not read the novel and I won't but surely he schemed a plan with Yan Binyun and the stabbing is part of it.
