I saw a picture - dont know where it is now - but of XCS, Xiaomei, Qi Tian, & XCS's sister all around a dinner table with 2 young kids. So, I think they will show them. And I believe XCS & Xiaomei's daughter was seen at the wrap up party - so there is an actress who plays her lol. So, we will probably see them in the last 4 episodes.

Lol, very true! Clearly her ambition drives her more than even love. And she doesn't even love YGH. Even now I dont think she has ever once loved him - I think it was just "might as well live this life now". I think her choice of picking ambition was right but I think her choice of picking YGH was wrong. Yes XCS moved on but that doesn't mean she should marry someone else like YGH who she has no feelings for. In a way - marrying YGH is the reason why her career ended. His mother just forced her to stop performing. Funny because HHL's mother always said it would be XCS that would hinder her in the future and YGH would help her prosper. But instead it was the other way around. If she picked XCS - he would have allowed her to continue her dream the way she wanted.

Hey, I went away for like 3 days for vacation and I come back to find out that Heizi is total scum!! Dude is a wife beater and he betrayed Qi Tian lol. Now I have to take it all back -_-. He just as bad as CHJ & YGH is not any better.

I think CHJ really got corrupted with all the power - kind of shows that some people change with different circumstances while others dont. CHJ is one of those people. It is so strange to see how far he is going and how corrupted he has become. Sometimes I wonder if he would have been able to avoid this if he never married YF and felt the pressure of her parents on him. It felt like he wanted to become his own man because her parents made him feel like he owed them and that he was only able to get this far because of them.

I really think it is interesting to see how parents are influecing some people. With Xiaomei u can tell her parents tell her things but they never force her - they let it be. Exactly why XCS & Xiaomei are happy because her parents are very understanding & give them to grow on their own. While I feel YGH's parents are too strict and always want it their way. They don't ask their kids opinions but just do it anyways. Like with HHL - YGH's mother just got her out of the band without even asking her or telling her. They just make decisions for them.

Oh definitely. I think the main reason why YGH stopped beign friends with XCS is because of his feelings of jealousy. He can't stop comparing his life to XCS - no matter how mcuh he has - he just doesn't think its better than XCS.

But with HHL - u could see that the absolute love he had for her is gone. The days when he would do anything for her are gone. Now it feels like he just is with her and that is it. He doesn't fight for her or try to be with her - he even tells her to just give up with the herbal medicine because it has no use. They both just seem indifferent with one another.

So, XCS mentioned that he and YGH met in 1968 when he was 11 years old and YGH was 10 years old. So . . .
December 1975 - The drama started (XCS @ age 18)
1976 - College entrance exams were reopened
1977 - XCS joins the military (XCS @ age 20)
Feb/March 1979 - Sino Vietnamese War; XCS gets injured & leaves the army (XCS @ age 22)
July 16, 1981 - XCS has dinner wtih friends for CHJ getting a job
1982 - XCS is able to walk again and starts his career in the Anti-smuggling department
1984/1985 - Don't know the exact date but XCS leaves the anti-smuggling department
1989/1990 - XCS & Xiaomei get marreid (assuming these dates because in 2001 they have a 10 year old daughter)
July 2001 - Beijing wins bid for Olmypics; also when XCS reunites with CHJ & YGH (XCS @ age 44)

I am starting to think YGH has also kind of fallen out of love with HHL. And I wonder if he could do it again if he would still pick HHL or not.

Regret ever thinking Heizi had changed. Dude is a piece of work.

Yes Heizi was friendly with Li Shangyou but he never once backstabbed QT - that is what I am saying. He is a better friend to QT than YGH & CHJ are to Xiao ChunSheng. Even though he has his moments of being a brute or unfriendly he never betrays his friends - while people like CHJ & YGH have been saved by XCS on multiple occasions and all they feel towards him is jealousy to the point where they betray him or forsake him. When QT was around - Heizi even let the fact that his eye got stabbed go. Only when QT was locked up did he start acting up. And even though he stabbed XCS - at present he has been good to him. Decisions change people but it seems like the people who one disliked XCS respect him when he no longer is the Prince of Beijing while the people who were closest to him want nothing to do with him or think he is a burden.

The drama is really good with life situations & XCS is kind of how people would ideally want to handle it. While YGH & CHJ are how conflicted individuals would handle it. I agree not very cut & dry but I also feel that we can be pretty sure that the friendship between the trio would be unfixable or actually should be unfixable. Most people, if they went through what XCS went through, would have long hated & despised YGH & CHJ. They would not consider them friends - only someone like XCS could really move past it without any resentment.

Can't wait. Girl looks like she is about to flip that dinner table. I think she completely forgot that she is supposed to get married to YGH. I guess she decided to give up on love and marry for money, She made her mom proud. Happy anyways - Xiaomei is so much better & just perfect for XCS.

I have hate for the trio. YGH abandoned his friend - a friend who saved his life. Like that isn't something someone does - if the roles were reversed XCS would have helped YGH with his treatment everyway possible.

HHL seems to have gotten pregnant with what the previews show. I feel that is going to really change the relationship though (in a negative way). But lets see. CHJ is just trash - no saving him whatsoever. Idc what he does - he dead to me.

But he had SO MANY options for HHL? He got her mother a doctor & her medicine that was hard to find. Like we know the situation. He just forgot about him & didn't care what happened to him at all. He couldn't pick up a phone and just call & ask how he was doing? I mean that didn't even require any favors. They legit met after YEARS. Not months but YEARS. But was cool running around & helping HHL & dating her. It just goes to show that he was jealous of him and that he was glad he was gone - he no longer had to be overshadowed by XCS's brightness.

I really really wished XCS never forgives them but we know he isn't that type of person - but they aren't worth of his friendship.

It would be one thing if it was CHJ but XCS saved his life and he took his credit - yes he told the truth but lets face it the army couldn't take it away from him. He was doing tours of telling how brave he was during the war. Imagine them having to take it away because he was a liar. People would lose faith in the party that they weren't able to background check that information. It's like back in the day when cops were unwilling to reopen cases because they didn't want people to think that they didn't do their jobs correctly & put an innocent man in jail.

But of couse YGH had all the time in the world for HHL - who is still in love with XCS. I guess he has his priorities straight *rolls eyes*. I really can't stand YGH at times.

I think they are competing with who is the worse out of the 2. Idk who is in the lead right now but they seem pretty neck & neck to me.

YGH promising XCS he will help him walk again but forgets about him for years and doesn't even have the courtesy to call or ask someone. Truly shows how much he cares about him. It's not like he saved his life or anything u know. Also was the reason why he got a promotion because let's face it the only reason they gave XCS & YGH the credit is because YGH was running around saying how glorious he was. Would look bad if they took it back from him - that is media attention they don't want. But he wasn't too busy of course to run around and help HHL and start dating her -_-. Dude is a piece of work as well.

So true. XCS is the type of person that helps things progress if we think about it. The job security that people these days have are due to people who talk out and fight against the injustice in order for those better conditions. XCS was just doing that - fighting out so that everyones situation can become better. He wasn't asking CHJ for a favor - he was telling him to do his job correctly. His job isn't to help superiors who are self absorbed enough to go around getting payback - if the person is qualified give them the housing. Instead he himself is quietly letting someone get pushed around & is okay with it because he is coming out of it with a promotion.

Ughhhh really can't stand CHJ right now - especially after seeing the previews. I thought YGH was bad - I feel now they both are competing with each other to see who is the worse one.

Exactly. YF is very good at reading people and knowing what they would do in terms of their circumstances. I don't think her relationship with CHJ will last either because htey are just too different. I think what he does to XCS will make her realize what kind of person he is and she doesn't want to be with him.

They are too cute. The scene where he was being all clingy & stuff. AHHH. Never had these moments when he dated HHL (thank God for that too - I would have hurled lol). The way she is always there to support him and even said that she would support him until he found out what he wanted to do.

He liked the girl from the library but was never able to recognize her. But maybe dating HHL was never that bad - it made him appreciate Xiaomei more. That not every girl is like a Xiaomei - most girls are like HHL. Who would abandon u when the going gets tough. Glad he found Xiaomei and I think she will help him truly grow

I think its funny how pre-friendship to Qi Tian all of XCS's friends are just horrible. But after he became friends with Qi Tian all of his friendships were real and they respected one another - like most of his friendships from the army. I find it funny also that Heizi - the guy who STABBED XCS - was more fair to XCS compared to those same childhood friends. And as bad as Heizi was at the start he would never do that to Qi Tian. He respects him & thinks they are true brothers.

The situation with XCS & CHJ was really interesting. In the beginning I didn't understand why XCS got involved & maybe he should have waited like CHJ said. But when thinking about it I realized its the same situation of someone with power taking advantage of their employees and exploiting them. And the only reason they are allowed to continue to do those things is because everyone around them stays silent and lets it happen. They exploit them because they have power and too many people stay quiet. Even now during the modern times it continues to happen. Of course, now, some people have called their bosses out and the rightful punishment happens. But it is interesting to see tht even in the 80s this happens and XCS is in the minority of those that speak up. However, CHJ is the type to stay silent when coming across an unfair act while XCS will always try to right the wrong.

I now understand why YF didn't want him to take that job or have XCS work for CHJ. She understood that the role would change CHJ while XCS will stay true to himself and would not look past these kind of things. Which would make things harder for CHJ because he wants to look past them so he can continue to prosper & doesn't care who he has to walk across to get there. He didn't care that the man he was preventing from getting housing had people who counted on him - he just wanted to look good in front of his boss so he could get a promotion. And sadly that is what a lot of people do - they look past others in order to prosper alone. I think in this regard XCS is definitely rare - not a lot of people would do what he did because they don't see the benefits for themself & are okay with letting someone deal with that situation on their own.
