I think 720 is now the star or ace group (still at loss at the terminologies) and are arrogant because they always…
Ahhhh, thanks for this. I was really confused by the chain of events in the recent episode & didn't know what was happening. But it seems like 720 just became complacent of being #1 all the time that they didn't really care about training for the sake of being better soldiers during war. Rather training just to beat their competition.
Yea, I feel losing an exercise might not wake them up especially once they find out that GL did cheat and help the other side to win. Wouldn't they still just assume they are great - but only because GL allowed the other side to claim victory it caused them to be defeated. Just seems like a bad plan in my opinion lol.
I agreed with GYY's statement about taking things 1 step at a time rather than the abrupt change because I don't know how many people like to be thrown into something. It's like exercising - its easier to start off slow and than build urself up. So, GL throwing his recruits into a situation that they are not similiar with might not be the best plan. And I feel that it might rub some people the wrong way because they are training the recruits in 720 - so to just tell them that "hey ur methods are wrong" might not sit well with them
This is such a complicated question – because “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. But to try…
That is practically how this drama handled it as well. They depicted how each person went through a similiar ordeal but handled the emotional toll differently. But Gu Yiye's situation was a bit different from otehrs (at least those that we saw on screen) since his life was basically saved by someone and it cost them their life in return.
I can understand your statement about "all is fair and love and war" but personally feel that when its amongst supposed friends or at least people who are "brothers" in war they should have some form of respect for one another. And the constant need to insert himself within someone's relationship just doesn't seem like something a decent human being would do especially after being rejected so many times by the said person. It just seems to ruin that person's overall character and tends to make him enemy #1. But I can understand if you believe that its justified because he is just fighting for what he wants - we all have different interpretations for different actions.
Ummm, this is another hard question lol. Even though u already know about his constant butting in with Gu Yiye & JNZ relationship - that didn't bother me as much as I thought. There was also the constant nepotism that was being shown throughout for him that I just couldn't take - it just felt like everything came easy to him and he didn't really work towards it and always got off being punished. BUT the one thing that finally made me give up on him was when he decided to tell GYY to commit su*cide after he was going through grief and basically told GL that he just couldn't live like this anymore. GYY just wasn't able to get past all the grief he had from war and hence he broke up with JNZ. And the only thing GL cared about was the break up - and not the fact that this man is having a hard time. Telling someone to commit suici&e when they are already leaning towards that direction just seems like a complete as*hole move and makes that person's character irredeembale to me.
Hahahah, I am the same. Spoilers sometimes help me decide if the show/movie is worth sticking around for.
I'm debating whether I should start watching this drama. I'm already aware of the plot and endgame, so unless…
This is such a complicated question – because “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. But to try to answer it – I, personally, am enjoying it even though I know what is about to happen, but u might not have the same opinion. Personally, I find the journey tends to be more enjoyable rather than the outcome but then again, I am the type of person who also watches basketball/football games even after knowing who won and what the score is lol. I would say to try your hand at it because even though there is criticism towards a specific character, I do believe it does have an overall great story; especially Gu Yiye’s. His character and story make you believe that is how soldiers who have witnessed war and came back alive feel; when others didn’t. How those soldiers would try to move forward but also showcasing others who don’t have the same experience, for comparison (showing that isn’t the only outcome for a soldier after war).
I also believe because most of the viewers, right now, are watching this drama day by day rather than bingeing it. Hence, we are more inclined to see every detail within the episode and due to that we see Gao Liang’s actions full force and deem them unquestionable and egregious. While someone who watches all 40 episodes, at once, might be able to have their experience more diluted and not see all the flaws that we are from the main character, GL. I still believe his character is unsavable, but he might be more tolerable for a person who doesn’t stop after every 1 or 2 episodes and is allowed to analyze his actions after it.
Has for the drama being military centric – I would lean more towards the aftermath of war and the affects they had. There were a few episodes that had war scenes and they were very emotional & raw – those scenes did require a break. Overall, I think if you’re okay with military strategy, technological advancement, seeing how the military works and seeing how soldiers try to come to grips with loss and the decisions they make to overcome them than I would say watch it for sure. If not, that just give it a pass. But definitely watch the trailer - it might give u a good enough idea 😀. I hope my opinion helped 😀
I sort of agree. I think he needed to break up with her if his decision was to end it with her so he can be able…
I understand what u mean. But I just don't think JNZ would hate him - I think instead she would want to wait for him or try her best to change his mind u know? I think that is what he was afraid of. That if he told her the truth about leaving her for A Xiu because of his obligation. I think she would tell him not to and that they could find a solution. And he probably beleived he wasn't strong enough to say no to her when it took him this much courage to break up with her. And he would just be constantly filled with grief and pain because on 1 hand he loved JNZ but on the other he can't let go of the feeling that his life is no longer his own but that of Zhang Fei's. And he has to take care of his wife to fulfill the debt he has when ZF gave up his life for GYY.
Like I said its very complicated - like I can understand both sides.
Well, that is a flaw of Gu Yiye after all lol. He isn't really a people person but he is a loyal soldier. And he is self sacrificing above all. Hence why his story is so tragic because we want whats best for him but he doesn't. He just wants to push forward and sacrifice himself because he thinks that is the best solution for the other person, never thinkign whats the best solution for himself.
Ummm do u mean mad at their relationship or just them as individuals. I, personally, do dislike GL character I…
GYY is like the person who is alone in the rain just making sure things don't fall apart. While everyone else in the show are watching from roofed buildings and saying how pitiful he looks or just ignoring him in general.
No one, once, just offered him help. It wasn't until GYY already put all the burden on his shoulders did GL finally help him & that too when he gave up on JNZ. I still don't think he would have been this helpful if GYY decided to stay with JNZ but help A Xiu in a different way.
I still sort of wished that GYY has someone else (maybe Hu Yang) but at this point I won't mind A Xiu. I just wished they developed their romance or at least showed it more so I could feel some kind of emotion about them getting together.
I think 720 is now the star or ace group (still at loss at the terminologies) and are arrogant because they always…
Are they? I thought it was still 700 that was the ace group but u might be right because Lu Pingfan is not heading the 700 squad anymore. But when GL & GYY were recruits he was the head of 700 - the tiger squad. I am assuming he just went to the squad that has the best soldiers are and that might be 720 - like u said.
Ahhh, idk what happened to be honest lol. I just hope they explain it in tomorrows episode since before 26 ended the guy was about to mention the cheating situation. Because from what I gathered the recruits of 720 get overconfident and hence don't try as hard but I didn't see any signs of cheating. I was going to think the cheating was GL giving up and just letting the other team win but even GL mentioned that they did something deceitful before giving up to GYY.
I sort of agree. I think he needed to break up with her if his decision was to end it with her so he can be able…
I think that is the point of GYY u know. That not everyone is willing to sacrifice - some people are just talk but when it comes down to action they would never do it. GYY actually did & I think thats why a lot of people commend him for it even if it is self sacrificing.
I think that is also how soldiers are u know. They would be willing to sacrifice themselves because of grief - thinking that "why did I return and my brother didn't?". So, GYY sort of embodies those soldiers that are willing to not only sacrifice for their country but just everything in general.
But, I do wish he wasn't so self sacrificing. I would like him to also be happy like everyone else. Seeing how everyone is happy finding their true loves while GYY is trying to help his fallen squad leaders wife - just wished more for him.
Oh, u think he has a secret crush on A Xiu? Ummm, I don't think so. I really think it was because of the grief and how depressed he was. He probably didn't think he should have been alive because his squad leader saved him from the blast . And than seeing how A Xiu is alone and she has a child from the squad leader - it just makes him even more guilty thinking that she wouldn't be alone if it wasn't for him. I really think he loved JNZ - thats why it was so hard for him. And even after breaking up with her he still remembered her but knew that he had a responsibility so he threw his feelings away for her. I just think GYY shoulders way too much guilt - its survivors guilt u know. Just doesn't think he should be alive and that his life should now be used to replace his squad leaders who died for him.
i too feel the little changes in GL but same reason, due to the previous episodes i just can't forgive him. I'm…
Yea, I would like to see some true character development for GL. Even though his character is no longer savable to me I think if they could at least show that he progresses into a great soldier and a good leader. That he can achieve things without the need of others.
Ummm do u mean mad at their relationship or just them as individuals. I, personally, do dislike GL character I…
Exactly! Why get urself involved in between 2 people's fight when ur not involved? It just seemed so strange to me. They are the ones with a problem and ur constant butting in is just making it worse for them. But, GL never got that. It just seemed like he wanted to be with JNZ and didn't care about what kind of issues would arise from it in her personal life.
Someone actually reminded me about that. And totally true. JNZ broke up with GYY and no one made a big deal out of it - if anything people were telling GL that he had a chance now. But no one cared how hurt GYY was at that time - and JNZ didn't even have a good reason to break up especially when just a few episodes ago she said she would be there for him. And how she was going to do the competition just to stay with him. I understand it was so they could concentrate on their careers but in that situation she could have talked to GYY & see what he thought of the situation. But out of no where she changes her mind and breaks up. At least GYY had a reason and it was because he didn't want to hurt JNZ because he knew he wnated to comfort A Xiu and help her and her son - people who had no one to lean on while JNZ could move on and find someone else.
Ummm do u mean mad at their relationship or just them as individuals. I, personally, do dislike GL character I…
Thats how I feel about JNZ as well lol. Sometimes, I admire the qualities she has and how she can be independent. But than other times I get annoyed by her actions or her responses to certain things. I think the main thing was how she constantly was around GL even though she knew he had a crush on her but loved GYY. It just felt like she wanted both things and didn't care how it would impact the other 2.
GL is unsavable to me after what he said in episode 24. When he told GYY to just commit suic*de that was my ABSOLUTE last straw. People who are depressed or grieving are at an emotional state with just 1 wrong word could bring them over the edge. His words could have pushed GYY into actually hurting himself - and he only did that because he was upset over a breakup that wasnt his own -_-. And the constant sob story also was annoying. I just don't see GL being that heroic ML that we all wanted to see especially when u compare him to GYY who has been making sacrificing and not complaining about his situation to others. He just holds his breathe and keeps moving forward. Glad that GL has changed in the recent episode but, like I said, I don't think he could ever be my favorite character or a character I even like.
is anyone else mad at GL and JNZ or is it just me?
Ummm do u mean mad at their relationship or just them as individuals. I, personally, do dislike GL character I just feel he's too selfish and constantly picks a fight with GYY over things that does not involve him - mostly has to do with JNZ.
JNZ though . . . .is harder to answer lol. Certain times she does bother me as well and than other times I do like her. I feel she is flawed but so is GYY & GL (GL is just badly written though in my opinion). So, maybe I just sometimes let her faults go and just chalk it up to her having a stone like personality. But there are things I like - such as her actually getting into the academy by passing the test and not running to her father to fix it for her.
Just finished episode 26 - and it seems like another exercise training that we started this drama off with. The only thing I don't understand was why did GL say that the 720 people cheated? And that he wanted them to learn a lesson by being defeated - thats why he let GYY go and win the exercise.
I am liking how GL has finally matured and is actually treating GYY like a friend and actually respecting him. It might be too late for me to like his character since the previous episodes did leave a bad taste in my mouth. But, glad he is getting the character development that I was hoping for. And that he is acting like a true soldier now and understanding things through a different viewpoint and not his previous selfish one.
EP 26 PLEASE COME QUICKLY !!! I want to know so bad what happened with A Xiu >< Maybe he finally is genuinely…
Well, I think JNZ & GYY are no longer end game. I do agree that they are very cute together as a couple but, like u said, they just don't fit each other. Especially not in what they want at this moment or maybe not ever. I think its just the difference in personality which prevents them to be able to really get along. I think in that sense JNZ & GL are more compatible. They both are able to move on and seem to be more joyous while GYY shoulders too much responsibility on himself.
I kind of am hoping there is a twist in the end and the couples we think are the end game aren't. But we shall see lol. Because I still hope that GYY can just find his own love and just be happy without forming a relationship through duty and guilt. I understand people are saying they will come to understand one another - but to me its like that will never change the fact that the relationship began out of guilt and not love.
I had to come back to this post because I just saw that JNZ wore the dress that GL gave her on their date. When…
I think the relationship aspect got edited out a lot - hence why u see absolutely no kissing scenes lol. And I think there were other things that also got cut out as well. U can actually notice that some of the editing job is weird because something will happen to a character but u never saw it lol. They just edited it out. Censoring is weird - they have like random rules that I don't even get at times lol.
I KNOW! I think a lot of Xiao Zhan fans bought a bunch of VIP membership (some did like 1 month so it wasn't that bad for them) because he became WETV ambassador & knew that on September 8 we would get OOL. But than a week before they cancelled it. LIKE WHAT? I just bought the 1 year VIP like a week before they cancelled and now I find out it was for nothing -_-. MAD would be an understatement. And worse thing is that I don't really watch many c-dramas unless it speaks to me or if Xiao Zhan is in it. Kind of too busy watching anime u know and work ROFL (I have like 3 different subscriptions for anime). So, now my Tencent VIP is just chilling & just got iQiyi for Xiao Zhan (just 1 month though lol). For some reason the platform Hunan has an issue airing it - not even Tencent's fault. They are so annoying! And right now the King & Queen of weibo are going on - and they are both leading the polls AGAIN! Like can we just get the drama already. I want a drama where I don't have to cry lol.
Hahahah, I understand. Everyone has their own means. I work so I have money so I buy and do my best to support the things I like. Especially with One Piece & to my limited capability for Xiao Zhan (being an international fan is hard). But I remember when I used to do a lot of illegal stuff as well just to watch movies (sometimes still do LOL)!
I feel I already disliked Gao Liang from like episode 5 or something so didn't really need 22 to tell me how bad…
Rofl, Bartolomeo had me cracking up during that entire arc. I never really liked anyone before Xiao Zhan so I found it strange how much a fanboy he was when I first saw the episode lol. But found it endearing and kind of cute lol. But now being a fan - I can understand him (A LITTLE lol). I think he still is a bit overboard though lol.
ZORO is EVERYTHING!! Especially, after the time skip and his new outfit and the scar on his eye. Ahhhhhh. If I would ever say I have an anime crush - he would be it lol.
I kind of figured it was not his father lol. But I just found it interesting they looked alike - like what is their connection to each other. I mean I am still waiting for Zoro's back story - I knew we got a taste with how one of his best friends died from an illness. But we don't really know who his parents are - its like what happened with Sanji. We knew parts of his past with the Chef but than found out everything on Whole Cake Island lol. I still wished he didn't destroy the raid suit- IT WAS SO COOL!
I agree with ur comment. I think GYY breaks up with JNZ because he doesn't want to burden her while knowing that…
Oh, WOW. I knew C.S. Lewis was in the army but didn't know about the pact he made with his friend. I guess it just shows that soldiers really do feel guilt for being able to survive while their brothers did not.
I think GYY knew that if not him than who else will take care of A Xiu. I know they kept saying how the army will take care of them but we know they can't take care of all the family members that lost someone - there are just too many. Sadly, some people need to make sacrifices and like GYY said he is that sacrifice that needed to be made.
Yea, I believe GYY is still under the notion that he must marry A Xiu out of obligation and forgot that she is also a woman that wants to be loved. So, I think Gao's advice helped him to realize that a little. I think GYY still hasn't come to falling for her in the romantic sense but let's see if he does as the series progresses.
GYY's character is unique because I think not many people would do that - at least I wouldn't. I might find an alternate way but I don't think I could sacrifice myself to take care of someone elses partner. But I think that is what makes GYY the ideal soldier - showing that this is how soldiers do live. Even after coming back from war they still shoulder so much responsibility and continue to make more sacrifices not just for their country but for their fallen brother in arms.
EP 26 PLEASE COME QUICKLY !!! I want to know so bad what happened with A Xiu >< Maybe he finally is genuinely…
Yea they cut him down to 2nd ML because the Main Lead has a pretty powerful backer so they were able to push him into the main lead position - meaning Xiao Zhan's scenes got cut. That's why u will see so few scenes even though he filmed longer than everyone else on the set. I mean it is what it is at this point. Just wished they kept at least some key elements of GYY's story because I feel they kind of butchered it.
Would have liked to see more scenes with A Xiu & GYY. Just to know how they got together and how it all worked out. Just don't feel the scenes they kept was necessary or needed to be that long, u know?
EP 26 PLEASE COME QUICKLY !!! I want to know so bad what happened with A Xiu >< Maybe he finally is genuinely…
I noticed that too. Whenever they release clips of Ace Troops it would always be GYY centric. It's like they know who the audience members are so why cut his scenes in the first place. It does bother me a lot that we got so many cut scenes when GYY's story deserved more. At least just to make it more understanding of what is going on and be able to allow the audience to tie things together.
I really felt those 3 letters showing how A Xiu was doing was not enough. They needed to show scenes of him actually going to meet her and helping her out in that situation. They really butchered it by editing it soo much and removing so many major plot points.
Yea, I feel losing an exercise might not wake them up especially once they find out that GL did cheat and help the other side to win. Wouldn't they still just assume they are great - but only because GL allowed the other side to claim victory it caused them to be defeated. Just seems like a bad plan in my opinion lol.

Would have liked to see more scenes with A Xiu & GYY. Just to know how they got together and how it all worked out. Just don't feel the scenes they kept was necessary or needed to be that long, u know?
I really felt those 3 letters showing how A Xiu was doing was not enough. They needed to show scenes of him actually going to meet her and helping her out in that situation. They really butchered it by editing it soo much and removing so many major plot points.
