He didn't love her then. Maybe if they met at different circumstances, it would have been better. But imho him…
Don;t agree. I feel him and A Xiu just was a relationship due to circumstnace rather than actual love. If his friend/platoon leader never died he would never have even looked at her. I just feel Hu Yang would have been able to give him comfort and able to let him move on.

I think he could have still taken care of A Xiu but not has a husband but just a friend u know - but been with Hu Yang.

Episode 36 & 37 were interesting because they showed us how military strategy works. But my one complain is the fact that why is GL shown to be a one man army? It just doesn't make sense - in a logical stand point. GYY is in command and is actually playing the role of someone giving orders and what his next plan of attack would be. But yet, GL is out there fighting people and blowing up planes like a soldier under someones command would. I understand the constant need to show that GL is cool but I feel they sometimes do it a bit too much. They did the same during the terrorist attack - where he practically beat up multiple people by himself.

And there is ABSOLUTELY no way this man saw 1 man in an island that big the moment he stepped out. Like sorry, I just don't believe a guy that was able to hide from thousands of soldiers was caught by GL - just doesn't seem reasonable. It just seems like the writer is trying to make GL become this over the top hero that is super strong but also Sherlock Holmes - trying way too hard to make him perfect. Like he is loved by everyone, he is amazing with the ladies, strong & SUPER smart. Idk I just can't find myself liking him with how they wrote GL at all even though he is better compared to the previous episodes - I just can't bring myself to like the way he is written. Just feels way too forced.

Sorry about the rant lol. But overall, I enjoyed the last 2 episodes. Feels like we are at the finish line

I finally caught up with new episodes! I have to say, I really enjoyed the last two episodes. The comradery and…
From what I know about GYY - they didn't really go into full detail for why he left (might have been edited out). But because GYY questions why a new recruit who was not qualified was getting special treatment even after he blew up someone else's hand he was suspended by the divisional commander - Chen Dashaun. Idk if u remember but at 32 or 33 - Chen Dashaun makes a call pretty much saying the person in charge of those recruits (which is GYY) should be suspended in order for them to take responsibility for what happened. Even though it was Chen Dashaun who put a disqualified recruit into that position even after GYY told him he shouldn't be - but because the kids father is giving him money he didn't care. But dude trying to put all the blame on GYY instead (WHAT AN A*SHOLE!!!!).

GYY, however, gave that envelope in 34; I think it was a resignation letter of sort. He believed he was at fault because he should have stopped that recruit once he realized he was not worthy. He told the higher ups and they told him to mind his business and GYY felt he should have done more even though that was their response. He thought if he took action and removed him no matter what they said that the other recruit would still have his hand at this moment. So, I think he just stepped down after being suspended there could have been other reasons but that is what I got from it all lol.

can i ask a question? i have already voted this drama 10 stars because i want to support xz who did an amazing…
Going to give a very Hakuna Matata type of response lol. Don't stress too much about ratings - ur rating should be according to how you feel about the show or whatever other reason ur basing it off of. Don't let other things pressure u into rating it a specific way - if u like an actor, the story or a couple - rate it however u please for whatever reason u like. Ratings are not a homework assignment that ur going to get graded on what u give or don't give. So, no one's rating is right or wrong it is just their opinion just like ur rating of a 10 is ur own πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

So, HAKUNA MATATA lol πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Right? They are super cute - especially when they started dancing at their cringey dance for the drama lol.

I really wished Hu Yang & Gu Yiye were end game. She loves him even now -the scenes they have together just makes me want to root for them. And Hu Yang is able to understand GYY - I really feel like she would have been able to get him through his grief after the war. She would have been a better fit than even A Xiu and definitely JNZ. GYY is such an idiot for letting her go.

Scrolling through douyin and see this video:
https://v.douyin.com/8gW3Rx7/

Find out that the actress who plays Han Chunyu is married to the actor who plays Jiang WeiXing in real life lol (they are cute though). Interesting since they not a couple or even had a crush with each other in the drama lol.

I think for any relationship, what matters is how ideal it is for the two people involved. And an important message…
I think the acting by both is done really well - like their actions really speak a lot more than their words, like u said. Thats why u can interpret how they feel with each other in different ways. Maybe some people can notice that its a romantic love while others might think it could be just a familial love with an immense amount of care. I feel it's kind of like reading a book u know. We have to let our imaginations make the conclusion for us.

I agree completely, Xiao Zhan's performance here is one of the main reasons I've stuck with the drama despite…
I agree. I feel his scenes have made me want to stick around and see how he is and how his story goes as well and just kind of rooting for GYY. I am still surprised at times at how great Xiao Zhan's acting is. But seeing how he has aged really stood out to me. Because there are a lot of time skips and he could have easily just been the same GYY and we would have complained a bit but most wouldn't have paid attention to that small detail. But the way his face has shown all that emotional toll and stress he has had when being in the army is really amazing. Like, u see him as a recruit and u can see how happy and joyous he was talking about the tanks but now its like a mature GYY that is all business.

Glad GL character has taken another path and no longer that annoying character he was - wasn't really a big fan of it. But still wished they sort of limited the amount of rainbow farts about him. I feel I have heard how great GL is way too many times now throughout this drama. Like they spend maybe at least a good 5 to 10 minute an episode talking about it.

The scene where GYY called out the nepotism in the army - glad someone did it. GYY knew that a new recruit was not a capable soldier and required more training and wanted to remove him from his post so he could go back to basics. But, the military told him it was impossible because the kid is the son of someone powerful. I thought the military was supposed to be fair & equal (I mean clearly they aren't since the show has shown clear signs of nepotism throughout). So, besides for letting him retrain they decided to give him an opportunity to show his "excellence". Where this kid messed up and got another recruit (who was talented) injured.

Besides for punishing him for his foolish mistake they decide to give him a medal for blowing someone's hand off? And u expect people to just stay silent while u give this kid special treatment for making a mistake? I am glad GYY stepped in and told them that if they didn't fix it that he would speak to the higher-ups. They are supposed to be soldiers but instead it feels like some Nepo-camp where they just throw away their morals because they prefer to help some high ups kid over someone who is talented but doesn't have a powerful family. What happened to keeping talented soldiers? Is this kid, who clearly has no idea how to be a soldier, going to be able to make the army better? U sacrificed a great soldier who was talented just because of nepotism - which in the end just weakens their military.

That's a lot to happen in 2 episodes. Love AX and GYY's relationship; healthy and mature. Very sad at HC's death…
I really wished they didn't kill Chunyu like that. She was a character I honestly really liked. I felt she was one of those people that knew what she wanted but also knew when to give up. And was always able to stay by her friends side, no matter what. Really wished they didn't have to kill her off. Probably also the only thing that wasn't spoiled for us - so was a big shock to me when she did die.

I now wonder whats going to happen because it looks like there was foul play.

Also, how amazing is Xiao Zhan's acting when u see him aging? Like u can honestly tell from his face how much of a toll it has been has he goes through the years of being in the military. In the beginning he was that bright recruit & than slowly u can see him just progressing through the drama. With each hardship u can tell how he just aged. The last episode, 31, where he meets his fellow recruit that lost his leg during the war. His face showed how much time he spend in the military & how much he went through. It was honestly amazing to me how well that scene was done by him.

The relationship between A Xiu & GYY is actually really interesting to me. Sometimes I just catch myself thinking that their relationship seems ideal for at least those 2. There are still times that I just don't think they love each other romantically because even now A Xiu shows some sort of restrain or awkwardness around GYY. But its clear as day that they really care for one another. I found it kind of endearing how she wanted GYY to look his best when going out even though it was with his ex-girlfriend. It's like she has full trust in him and knows that he wouldn't hurt her even though she knows the circumstances of his past relationship with her and the reason for why they broke up. Just the way they support each other, honestly, is like the ideal healthy relationship that so many people want but can never get even though they might have started off loving that person through a romantic way. Their relationship really shows that u don't need to fully love someone but has long has u care or have good intentions for them that u could still live a healthy life and be happy with ur situation.

The scenes between the two, the marriage scene,... were just beautiful . I like the actress here. Plus XZ superb…
My favorite scene was of them walking on the railway and just kind of being a family. It was shot beautifully and kind of showed that this was a new start for them and a new path that they would start on together.

I have to say, I love reading your reviews after each episode. I always find myself agreeing with you πŸ˜ƒ so…
Hahaha thanks πŸ₯°πŸ₯°, I feel GYY's character definitely gives a lot of room for us to question his actions. And his arc, in general, is unique so there might be several interpretations.

SAME! I didn't think I would enjoy this drama has much as I am where I am practically watching it everyday when each new episode get released. I tend to enjoy binge watching more than waiting 1 or 2 episodes a day. But the drama does a good job sucking u in even though it has some flaws in its editing/development. I think GYY's story jsut makes u want to root for him and just want to see where his decisions lead him and if he will be able to truly gain true happiness from a decision he made out of grief.

I think GYY's character is definitely, maybe, my 2nd favorite characters of Xiao Zhan's right now. I think I fell in love with GYY back around the earlier episodes. Makes me excited to know about his future projects - especially Shi Ying now. I think he has a good eye for what roles he would like to play.

The thing that I love about GYY & A Xiu's relationship in this episode is that they just didn't give us a happily ever after. Even though they both agreed to get married u can tell there is some awkwardness between them but also a sense of caring they have for each other that could evolve into a certain type of love. U can tell A Xiu loves GYY but not like a romantic kind but maybe more as a family kind - where she relies on him and feels a kind of solace with his presence. Same can be said of GYY who clearly cares for A Xiu but I don't know if I can say its the romantic kind but maybe more of how someone feels for a family member as well. And hearing about his back story and how he never truly had a family - I feel A Xiu and her son kind of give him a sense of belonging which he never received before. So, in a way this relationship has helped the 2 obtain the things they have lost or never had. And I feel that is okay - not everyone in real life really gets their true love. People have gotten arranged marriages and some are able to fall for one another while others might have never reached the "love" level but truly care for their partner and would want the best for them.
And I feel that is what A Xiu and GYY are - which I am glad they went this route. I feel if they just showed them completely in love with each other I would have really questioned it especially since we haven't seen much of it.

PREACH! I feel they cut so many of GYY scenes at this point that we aaren't going to get the proper relationship…
That is honestly true. Or honestly, they could do it the way they did it with Chunyu (the female officer that used to like GL). Their relationship didn't have that much screen time but I feel they showed enough for us to get an idea of how things went wrong for them and where it went well. Yes, the starting was a bit ehhh but after that it made a lot more sense and we saw the relationship develop.

While, I feel, for the rest it just feels like time skip happened and it was the answer for everything. It's like "HERE" this is the time skip - time heals all. Let's carry on with the rest lol.

From what I hear, there were different directors which makes sense and seems like it because of how some characters are portrayed and how certain things are filmed. I feel that was a bad idea on their part to be honest - should have stuck with 1 director so it felt more clean. Just feels like the GYY story is far superior than the GL story - especially GL story doesn't really have much. It's like we had his sob story but than the rest of it was just him being a soldier nothing really special from the rest. ---- Editing ruining parts of it to be honest. I wonder how it would be if they they didn't cut the scenes with GYY just to make room for GL. Would it be the same or would it be better?

This is such a complicated question – because β€œone man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. But to try…
GL in the first 20ish episodes was probably that immature brat that people constantly wanted to run away from. But in the recent episodes he seems to be better - has matured to a certain point. But, like I said, I don't think his character can be saved for me anymore. There just isn't much there for me to root for. He's like . . . an average main character whose backstory is sad but constantly hearing about it does make u start to get immune to it and just wished he had MORE. I feel he needed that extra something to make the audience root for him or at least less of the annoying GL they gave us. ---- I personally have not seen many comments for GL in China (can't read the language lol) but I do speak to someone that is in China and she has told me that not many people like his character. They, also, think he obtains things easily & differs from that ideal soldier type.

Well, most of the BTS I have are kind of like blooper reels not much content of how the role was played out. I just know the information about Xiao Zhan because he posted a lengthy description of GYY and how he grew with him for those few months. Also, some of the veteran actors that worked with him spoke about his acting as well and how he portrayed him. JH probably has the same, some where, but since I don't really pay much attention outside my circle I wouldn't know lol.

I was going to watch Shang-Chi but going to the theaters in these conditions are just a pain lol. And, than, sort of forgot to ever watch it - just got busy with other things and other movies lol. ---- Oh, totally agree about MS playing Zod - he was hands down the best character to me. I thought I would hate Zod because, well, he is a bad guy but turns out I started sympathizing with him. Really good acting by him .

It's the smile for me with Tom Welling - I think I am just a sucker for great smiles lol. Michael Rosenbaum has Lex was great. I really loved the relationship between him and Clark Kent - even though he had some fascination with him it still felt like he wanted to be true friends. And Michael's portrayal of Lex kind of gave u a different side of what we see has the typical Lex Luthor.
