I feel they put Gu Yiye on this pedestal that he has to be the best and have no flaws because if he does anything slightly wrong they will tear him apart. While with GL it's like the man could commit murder and he can get away with it. It's starting to really bother me. Someone said that if he didn't have the protagonist halo than everyone would hate him - and its so true. If he was a supporting role or even a villain than I doubt people would try so hard to defend his character (or lack of in his case).

Idk how they can even put GL above anyone when he is literally a secretary - like no offense to secretaries but dude is supposed to be a soldier. I don't know where his motivation went of wanting to be like his brother. It's so weird to me. And at this rate I feel everytime GL makes a mistake he just gets away with it because the commander is like in love with him. I find it so funny that the reason people disliked GYY was because they thought he was getting favors for having a military dad but it seems liek GL is getting it from the commander guy. SMH!

I feel GL is no longer who he used to be from the previous episodes. If anything he just got worse. I feel the person that was honorable but still do dumb stuff is kind of gone. I mean ur probably right and the fact that he never has gotten punished for any of his mistakes probably has given him a false sense of security where he believes he can do anything he pleases. I mean he committed a crime by getting someone else promoted and received absolutely no punishment. Dude just went and got food with Zheng Yuan & his crush. I also don't see what kind of incentive he has to even return to being a soldier anymore - dude is living his best life right now. He doesn't have to kill himself training, like the rest, & he can still go after the girl whenever he has time (which he has a lot of lol).

GL story is really BAD there is absolutely no character development - well actually sorry there is some. But not in the right direction. I don't see how he can be a good soldier or will be in the future.

I was thinking the same. I am still enjoying it because even though there are some characters that are just ehhh or don't make sense. I do really like GYY and Zhang Fei and the other guy that is teaching the "trash" company. They actually seem to be true soldiers who are trying to become better and improve. While I feel the other story of what GL is doing just makes no sense. I am guessing they are trying to show 2 sides of the military. The 1 side is the soldiers who train and make do with what they have - GYY side. And than the other side is how the commanders try to improve the means of making the training better. However, the 2nd side that has to do with the higher ups is just falling short. I feel its better for them to make that storyline a smaller portion compared to the other.

When the story was more focused on training - I thought it was great. But lets see what happens - I think they should make GL return to training and stop him from being a secretary because that storyline is just boring at this point. No one cares about him washing someones feet.

I do agree with u. I would have also liked if GL received some kind of punishment for all the things he did that were against conduct of a soldier. But, like u said, I don't think that is possible at this point. It's funny though because the reason why some people disliked GYY was because he had a strong military background and thought he was getting favors. But, truth is, it is actually GL that is gettign the favors while GYY is rising from a nobody. Just goes to show I guess.

GL is just constantly getting worse in my opinion. In the first few episodes he wasn't this bad. Yes, he was annoying and whiney at times but still he had his moments where u could kind of like him. But, than his constant need to get JN to fall in love with him - he just became a total PAIN!!! And let's not even get started at how so many people are bias towards him and they are in the army - EXCUSE ME when did a military become so impartial towards 1 recruit. A recruit that has not even shown his merit. It would be 1 thing if he was irreplaceable and was this smart tactician but he is NO ONE at this point and they constantly are trying to save him -_-.

And than there is JN. When she was with GYY she tried to become the best phone operator and actually wanted to do her best. People even said she was talented like GYY and she could go far. They were amazed at how great she was in such little time. But moment she stopped with GYY and spend even more time with GL - it feels like she no longer cares. And now is becoming an actress for the military. So, GYY was a great influence to her but GL isn't but yet she ends up with GL - how wonderful. *ROLLS EYES*

Idk the commander is something else. It's like that one conversation he had with GL, when he tried to drown himself in the river, made him fall in love with him like a school girl/boy getting her/his first crush. I mean I understand he has a pitiful backstory but who doesn't? Everyone has their sob story (some more than others) but it is the job of those in command to not be impartial towards it. They need to think of the WHOLE and not just the individual. But this guy, whenever GL does anything wrong he is there to his rescue -_-. I am starting to wonder how many mistakes will it take until he finally gets a proper punishment.

GL eventually will find some sort of character development (I hope) but I feel it will be rushed because we are at15 episodes in and I know they do A LOT of time skips, 40 years to be exact. And the dude is still a secretary at this moment and still flirting with JN. I find it funny that JN's father had a problem with GYY when he found out they were dating. BUT GL is flirting with his daughter right in front of his face and he is all giddy & happy ROFL. Like ummm is this man HIGH or something or just really that bias? lol

I think ur right that GYY would probably get really angry if he found out. But I don't think they will do it because I don't think they want GL to look even worse than he already is. But it would be great to see GYY kick his ass again because he deserves it - dude is doing nothing and just constantly meddling in other people's business.

When Zhang Fei tells GYY "I want to give her the best, And the dress you choose will be the best" NOOOOOO
It's like he knows and is telling him that he is giving his A Xiu to GYY because he wants to give her the best and he knows GYY is the one to give that to her - especially when he is gone 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

AHHH yes. Thank you. I completely forgot that him trying to promote someone, he just met, was going to take away from Zhang Fei who has been fair and kind to his recruits. And he actually works hard while the other guy just used GL to get ahead. But, of course, GL doesn't think on his feet or think at all & just thought well he knows my brother so let me help him out (commit a crime in the military) and take a promotion away from someone that does deserve it.

You put it perfectly, if it wasn't for the protagonist halo idk if anyone would like him. But because he is a ML the audience finds ways to forgive and let go all his foolish mistakes. The same mistakes that if a supporting role did they would hate that character. And honestly, I am really hating NanZheng's father. This man is a commander in the army and he is so biased - how can he be commanding soldiers when he has rose colored glasses on when it comes to GL. He does not judge fairly at all.

GYY is too dignified - I don't think he will. He didn't even punch him in the throat for constantly trying to steal Nan Zheng from him when they were dating. I wished he did though :D

Oh, and Gu Yiye picking out a dress for A Xiu because his commanding officer is about to marry her. PAIN - because we know whats going to happen! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Episode 15:
GL is again getting away with stuff. That's good to know. This man committed a crime that had a meeting with higherups to discuss the situation - the whole promotion of a candidate (the guy he believed his brother knew). But because the commander loves him like his own son of course he got away with the crime. LIKE WHAT? Are we still in the military or in the twilight zone? Someone explain how he can get away with everything. If that was anyone else they would have gotten demoted, imprisoned, or removed from the army. Instead this man is just having a meal with the commander and the girl he loves. At this point I feel everyone should just revolt because not like u getting punished if ur GL.

Honestly, at this point I feel like the only person that is actually a soldier out of the 3 leads is GYY. Everyone else just seems to be playing games. GL, still seems to be the secretary for the commander and has no intentions of going back to being an actual soldier. And, Nanzheng who broke up with GYY because she wanted to concentrate on being a better phone operator (w.e. u call that) but now is going to become an actress for the military -_-. SOMEONE please HELP ME understand what these 2 are doing. They are no longer following what their intentions were when they first joined the military.

OMG right? Idk if u watched the new episode but I can't stand GL anymore. I thought he was getting better but nope just the same old same old. Sometimes I wonder if GYY is the only one in the military while the others are just having fun - GL & Nanzheng as well now. It is so weird.

Let me try my best here lol.

1. Idk if it's a missing scene or they just believed it was unneccessary to film it since it pretty much GYY relaying the story that GL just told them. Doubt anyone wants to hear the story for the 2nd time lol. So, makes sense for them to just skip that part and show that GYY succeeded in getting the guys watch back after he explained his side.

2. Has for the injury on his hand - ur right they don't show it. But he is training so I just assumed he got it from training u know. Military training is very hard and some people have even died from it - so don't be too surrpised if he does get injured here and there.

3. I think he was in the bunk room just to get rest. They probably believed he was overexhausted from training too much and stuff (remember he was holding his position with a heavy gun and other weights so he is bound to be tired). And let's not forget this is the military - they probably have several injured people. They probably are trying to show that if ur just tired or it is isn't too bad than they just leave you to rest in your room. Also, in your questions about why no one cares - they probably do but they have training. They train till they are exhauted to death. And GYY tends to increase his training because he wants to do even better - hence why he puts weights and stuff. So, him resting in his bed is due to that reason.

4. There is nothing wrong with GYY - he just overtrains. It's like if u overtrain urself beyond how much your body can handle. I think he just overtrains at times and that is what exhausts him.

5. This question is hard to answer lol. Let's just say those scenes were supposed to be there but they edited it out due to w.e. reasons they had. I have said it before but GYY was supposed to be ML but due to "circumstances" they edited it in a way to make it GL - hence why u see a lot of GYY scenes cut.

GL does have his flaws and honestly he irritates me as the series progresses. Your only on episode 5 so I won't say much. But, I am just going to say around 5 I still sort of liked him. And now I am on episode 15 and I can't stand the man lol.

Agreed. I think the other actors are also doing a pretty good job. The supporting cast are all great and the FL is doing a good job. Didn't think I would like this drama that much because it is military and not into them that much lol. But this one is really good so far - I like the story and it feels very similar to a slice of life drama in way (if you ignore the military aspect).

RIGHT? When I first saw pictures of Bai Lu in Ace Troops, I was like ohhh so she is the 2nd FL but turns out she just a supporting role -_-. Like huh? U got her just to play a 10 minute role? Like have GYY and her end up together - they are childhood friends after all.

I hope they do have them in a drama together. Here is hoping it turns out to be a costume drama. Xiao Zhan looks amazing in them but so does Bai Lu.

I think the moment she broke up with GYY - I was just like wow really? And she picked such a bad time too. Like did it have to be right before he had that stimulation test? He failed because he couldn't concentrate properly but I am glad they broke up because it just felt like GYY needed "me" time so he could be a better soldier. GL, now, can also stop bothering him and trying to steal her from GYY.
