RIGHT? Episode 14 looked completely different from the other episodes lol. Felt like I entered the twilight zone a bit. I also didn't understand the sudden "we are breaking up". Like they were just chilling at the beacha nd having fun and a few moments later they break up? Ummm okay. But to be honest, I am glad they did. I felt the romance aspect was dragging the plot down and just wasn't working out very well. It also annoyed me with GL's constant attempt at sabotaging their relationship. At least this way he won't be a complete bother and actually try to act like a human being for a change that isn't just into girls. --- Also, I hope now they can just concentrate on the training aspect and stuff and the progression of characters.

I think their relationship ends here and he probably moves on from her and she moves on to GL. I feel it was a bit of a weird transition but I also think she won't move on just yet because from the summary it seems she will marry 10 years after becoming a recruit. So, we have a lot of time lol.

Yea that was what I was thinking. But I guess I am hoping for a more romantic drama while I keep forgetting it is a military drama so it makes sense that it has more to do with responsibility than him falling in love. Still, it does suck. Especially seeing episode 13 with Bai Lu. AHhhh, wished it still happened though. Can't even hope for it because we know whats goign to happen lol.

Honestly, its not beause he isn't smart or something. Everyone has their thing that they are good at. GYY is knowledgeable while GL is hardworking and loyal. And also about GYY splitting the fault - to be honest that wasn't even his fault with the pig. That was actually GL's idea hence why the other guy Nu Manceng left because they were like he wasn't a part of it. GYY didn't leave because he has a sense of responsibility and thinks he should get punsihed for his part (which that part of his personality annoys me where he always is trying to shoulder responsibility). But let's not forget when they caught the pig - everyone gave GL all the credit and neglected the other 2. But the moment it became a problem it becomes everyone's fault? So, yea GYY split the fault but he could have easily said it was all GL's idea (which it was) and gotten off scott free. That is why GL said he wasn't going to lie because he knew that GYY just followed his idea. Not saying GYY is perfect - dude has flaws as well and does dumb stuff. But the splitting the fault I see nothing wrong.

I know. But, I feel they are ruining Gao Liang's character because the way he acted in episode 13 just makes him seem very unlikeable.

I am pretty sure he is sabotaging the relationship. There was absolutely no reason for him to tell Jiang Nanzheng to see Gu Yiye at the hospital when Hu Yang was there. So why did he do that? He wanted to rub it in Nanzheng face that look he is seeing a girl. And to make matters worse he lied and said they are childhood sweethearts - which they are not. Why would he do that if not to make Nanzheng mad and think he is 2 timing her?

Hu Yang knew what he was doign and that is why she said what she said to him - she pretty much told him that I understand chasing the girl is hard or something like that. So, she knows he likes her and that is why he is saying the things he is and trying to make her look like the gf of Gu Yiye when that is just not true.

Did u watch upto episode 13? Nanzheng actually at this point only loves 1 man & that is GYY. GYY and her are dating. GL has professed his love multiple times but got rejected and he sort of is trying to sabotage the relationship - which annoys me. And episode 13 just made me dislike him even further. Not cool with what he did! He should really learn from Hu Yang in how to deal with rejection from someone u love.

Agreed, she did an amazing job. I really love her character as well. The total opposite of Gao Liang. They both love someone that doesn't recriprocate their feelings but she knows when to quit when she realizes Gu Yiye loves someone else. She steps down and lets him be happy while Gao does not. Makes it even harder to know that she doesn't end up with GYY now :'(

That is true - like learning to love each other after getting married. But I guess since we are seeing their story now it is sad to know that GYY who finally fell in love with someone won't end up with the girl. And than also seeign that jerk Gao always getting in their way makes it worse. I hate seeing the fact that he is going to get the girl at the end when he was the 3rd party always trying to sabotage their relationship. GRRR

Girl, I am like so infuriated with todays episode 13 - GAO is officially on my shit list. I can't stand him anymore. It's bad enough that he is getting favoritism and stuff but this man pulls the worse crap and always gets away with it. I really hate his character - I can't believe the story is around such a toxic person.

Gao Liang, really hasn't done anything but cause trouble. But because his brother was a hero and he was an orphan he sort of gets away with a lot. SMH

I officially hate Gao Liang. Wow what an ASS man. Just when I thought he couldn't get worse this man really surprised me. This man told Nanzheng to come to the hospital so he could show her something. Just to find out he wanted to show her Hu Yang who has a huge crush on GYY. And this man actually LIED and said they were dating (childhood sweethearts) - wow what a conniving JERK. AGHHHHHHHHH he makes me mad. He really does not care about hurting others just to get the girl.

I love Hu Yang though. Even though she loves Gu Yiye she knew what Gao Liang was upto and didnt take the opportunity to make the situation worse for him. I love her. She actually told Nanzheng the truth and said it isn't what it seems like when she could have done what Gao was doing and lie and say yea I am dating him in front of her face. It broke her heart but she knew it was the right thing to do. She is so much better than Gao who only cares about himself and does the most dirtiest things. SMH. Ahhh Bai Lu did such a great job too - the chemistry between her character and Gu Yiye was also perfect. I do wish they ended up together even more now :(

U know I was going to ask what u meant by that & than it hit me LOL. Ur talking about the romance aspect - and yup I can see that. And Naruto marries Hinata after Heiji dies - ahhhhh it's like all coming together lol..

That is very true but I think she will still be older than GYY - I think the actress that plays her is like 35 so I am just assuming she won't be too much older but still a few years older than him. But like u said we shall wait & see lol. I feel like I am going to be heartbroken though when he does pick friendship/loyalty over his own love life.

YUP. Like how did his punishment become more of a vacation -_-. They were making it seem like what he did with the pig to be so bad that he would be let go from the army - but he ends up becoming a secretary and not having to do any kind of training what so ever -_-. Ummmm . . . .what? Why don't the other soldiers do the same

It isn't surprising. The drama was filmed to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Communist Party. I am actually more surprised that there isn't more propanda in the drama - its just mentions here and there but overall just concentrates on the actual story so not too bad

Idk about helping though. He felt way too happy about that situation and him telling them its a love triangle doesnt mean anything because the girl is already telling her commanding officier that she loves GYY even if he handicapped. So, there is no point in him saying that - I mean the girl got so many popsicles to cool him down. I think everyone practically knows who she has chosen (well except for 1 dumb person, well in his case he just is in denial and just won't accept reality).

I feel he loves getting himself involved into her situation. Like when he gave her that fruit - u can see her face and she felt super uncomfortable. Like she was thinking "oh God, AGAIN". She is getting tired of constantly telling him that it isn't going to work between them but is feeling bad as well about it so he is able to continue doing so because of her lack of courage of telling him to HOP OFF and just no longer talk to her.

Oh really? Ummm so the synopsis could be wrong. Well that means it might be the case and they are talking about the same girl. But I wonder if that means that Gu Yiye is going to marry someone significantly older than him. Because the teacher does seem to be a lot older than him.

*****SPOILER******* (Not really but a guess that could be a spoiler, if I am right (who knows about that lol))

So, I was watching some episodes again and I saw episode 4 where Gu Yiye is on the bike with one of his teachers. And the guy says something about not all girlfriends are the same as his Xiu . . . . . GYY's future wife's name is A Xiu. Is it the same person? I know from the spoilery synopsis that he marries his old squad leaders daughter - I am guessing maybe the daugther part is not right and its his gf?? Idk, it just seemed interesting that they have the same name - so why not take a leap in assuming that lol.

I am going to add this because I sort of forgot lol. The thing that did get me mad was when Song was saying all that to GL - GYY was hearing all of it. And idk it kind of made me mad for him - because he started whistling knowing that he was going to get in trouble for a situation and this guy out there convincing him to lie so that he has a chance to compete with him. That would be upsetting for anyone so I guess that did sway me more into thinking Song was a snake (and still do a bit rofl - still think ur pov is understandable but that scene was upsetting just seeing GYY along in the room and whistling to himself readying himself for whats about to come because he can hear them talking about shouldering the blame).

Idk how to explain it but I feel I prefer it when they do the trianing segments rather than the romance drama/w.e. GL is going through. And now he is acting like a complete ass. I did like Nanzheng's reaction though - it really felt like she loved him when he got sick. Ahhh its making things hard for me now - because we know the end result.

Ummm, u know what. I think ur selling me lol. I can see ur point about him not wanting his friend to get demoted so he thought this was the best option to sort of let everyoen shoulder the blame. I can kind of see that - still think it was a bit snakey lol since the truth was that it was GL's fault. But, I can see that his motivations were good and he was just trying to help his friend who already got demoted once. And knowing GYY he probably would have taken the fall if it meant helping him because he felt bad already that he got demoted the first time around.

U know, now that u mention Zheng Yuan. OMG ur right. I actually didn't see it like that before to be honest lol. But yea, the moment he realized Gao Liang was involved he made sure to do his best to get the situation resolved. And his punishment was so strange as well. It felt more like a reward in a sense. Like he doesn't have to do all that harsh training but instead just warm up his foot bath water (w.e. it is lol). He pretty much is just his secretary - I mean maybe for him he wouldn't like it but he hasn't complained yet. Just feels like a vacation really - don't see the punishment. Maybe more people should kill domestic pigs so they can also just be a secretary and not have to kill themselves with the training. Yea ur right just because he has a sob story does not mean u should baby him or not punish him. Ur a commander so if u play favorites how would u be able to control ur soldiers. They will just be like well u let it go for him so why not for us as well. Like there won't be any structure.
