Like all platforms Youku commissions a series of posters for each drama. The one on the site is optimized for their site and rotates regularly to make the site fresh. The ones they actually use to promote the drama on social media etc are the ones they send to Douban, Baike, Weibo etc. Someone with no knowledge or judgement on MDL decided to use the one on the platform itself which of course the colors etc doesn’t look good at all bc it’s not optimized for this site. This will be a recurring problem.

Yeah there is no reasoning with them on this matter. I have tried in the past and say this from experience. But they are volunteers after all so we should just shut up and be grateful.

You can try but it seems there have been many unsuccessful attempts to change this back already. If you check the main feed even @Kumaxell tried with a rather unique argument that evidently failed. I believe the current policy is to use the poster on the Chinese airing platform. This is not always consistently applied so it’s just kind of bad luck that it was in this case. I unsuccessfully tried to push back against this policy some time back. I personally think Douban is a good source as the platforms themselves choose the poster there and they are usually in good taste. Matching the poster to the Chinese site is the dumbest policy possible on this matter bc the platforms routinely rotate their posters (using tech not humans) to keep their websites looking fresh. Trying to keep up with that is the biggest waste of volunteer time. In my experience it’s better to hope Youku changes the poster before trying again.

Wow changing posters for dramas that aired years ago is such a great use of volunteer time! Not to mention the good old volunteer argument that always and forever trumps any and all other arguments, logic good sense as the final word on any matter. This is not to say their efforts are not appreciated. It is just to point out that such efforts should not be misdirected and a bad policy and/or decision is still a bad policy and /or decision.

Yes I understand the policy but MDL won’t automatically change it just bc Youku changed it unless someone submits a request to change it. And anyone can see that this request was made by someone who is not watching land doesn’t even care that the poster sucks. Meanwhile those of us who are watchers are baffled and irritated each time we come here. I honestly didn’t want to blame them but then again I would never run around mucking with posters for dramas I am not even watching omg who does that?

Yeah I agree. Villain origin stories are always so much more interesting even if they don’t end well.

I tried to refrain from commenting BUT I FAILED! It was modified by someone who is NOT EVEN WATCHING THIS!!! OMG - just some random passerby who doesn't even watch c-dramas trying to make some coins, went and mucked with the poster. Ridiculous!!!

I think at this stage they are too far away from the TBOY timeline for them to get there.

Thanks for your good comments. Bai Chuan and Xiu’s is one of the best non romantic relationships in cdramas I have seen to date. Really hope they continue this series till the end even if it takes a long time.

This is so true. He wasn't even free to roam jianghu he had to stay and watch over his bro. Their father picked him for a reason. It was incredibly irresponsible of him to just hand off the throne to someone so unqualified. And he enabled his brother with YWJ long before he even ascended the throne. He spoiled the dude by never requiring him to differentiate between right and wrong. I worry for SMY as well. Bc it seems to me he is going to end up going along with SCH - at least for awhile.

Yeah I am afraid I have very little sympathy left for Lord Langya. I know he is righteous and well meaning but he forced an unwilling and resentful woman to marry his brother which led to war and tragedy and with appalling lack of judgement he put the wrong guy on the throne bc he wasn't willing to do it himself and got himself killed dead as a result. Everyone would have been better off if he had put his own ass on that throne and did the right thing from there.
