The tears in eyes yet the authoritative look while defending the FL, so different from from teay-eyed or sad eyes in WOL and S&HPH....Xu Kai has the most expressive eyes , and the way he brings each character to life ❤️❤️

Are they using Xu Kai's drama as a way to introduce a lot of other actors? Same happened with Moonlit Reunion...this drama also seems to be doing that

Why was the Lady Du's brother clenching his fist when the soldiers were welcoming Lin back and pledging their loyalty to him?are the Du duo upto something? And Xurui (the 2nd sister) , her expressions towards Xiuwan shows something is off with her..anyone else feel the same?

Lanxiang's parents asking their neighbours to be quiet so she can get more sleep is heart warming❤️ the family interactions , the interactions between maids is so lively...Give me a drama of only that and I'll gladly watch it.

And character is so sweet, telling beating won't help much, but to withhold food

Lady Du is even pure evil...trying to trap foodie maid Xiaolian is evil and disgusting..

Episode 11 was cool...I loved that they actually explained the word play in substitles...pace has picked up slightly...hopefully this continues for remainder of drama..

He has got hardly any screen time in the last 10episodes

Wait till it finishes airing and then binge watch...plot is proceeding worse than snails...10episodes and still ML has had almost no screen time and scenes are dragging...
Its a good watch..just that not much has happened over last 10episodes and waiting for next day episode which doesnt move along much can get frustrating

So true..been saying this from the start...watch it at 1.5x...you wont miss anything, even the expressions are still clear at that speed

The comment was not about the portrayal of gender norms in a historical drama, but an observation on how modern viewers respond to the traditional societal norms being depicted. Historical context may explain those norms, but it doesn't necessarily explain why they continue to resonate with or be defended by people today.
A historical drama can be viewed through its historical context without requiring viewers to leave their own critical perspective at the door. Recognising why certain norms existed is different from accepting them, and questioning them doesn't mean the viewer "should only watch modern dramas".

Finally a comment which holds the complexicity of the situation and speculations which arises from it without turning into ML good, FL good, SFL evil etc etc etc....well said 👏 👏

The comments are getting twisted out of proportions...the original comment was on ML should have chosen another way to separate...then it shifted to would men have been judged with the same lens (obviously no as they had more rights and power) and now random comment on justifying the unjustifiable....none of my comments have been on justifying behaviours...it has been on the lens to view different behviours and why different perspective is needed for viewing each circumstance, and a speculation on the choice of ML and if a different method could be adopted

There is another phrase from Spiderman "with great power comes great responsibility "...ML has power so is expected to act responsibly (by ML i mean men of that era)...i am not against their separation...only the way of separation...

MLs faamily doesn't seem to lack funds..He asked her for funds to check for the seals and find the other half...and she is saving enough to flee with her lover so both can live decent lives...if both her father and brother knew, ML could have easily found a way to negotiate than exposing this way...his reputation being affected doesnt have as much consequences as a woman's reputataion being smeared...unless this has a relevance in future episodes, his using such method doesn't make sense..

The difference is men had rights..they can study, enrol in army, make money and live...women don't have that...hence if ML was a philanderer he would be judged differently and rightly so

He could have found another way to seprate than spoil the SFL's reputation...it's not like the Zhao family cares about SFL...if he had found a way to help her flee with money, she would be living her life and he would be living his...and probably Zhao family would be more cooperative with him to keep their secret and reputation

I dont think Zhao family would have done that if it was done right...have seen cdramas with fake deaths etc...I haven't read the novel...unless this has some implication in the future episodes I don't see the need to spoil reputation of SFL this way
