Personally, I like this one better than MDG but I'm generally drawn to Fei Wo Si Cun dramas (Sealed with a Kiss, Goodbye my Princess, Siege in the Fog). This is yet again going to be a heartwrenching love story and we'll be in for another emotional roller-coaster ride.

Shelved dramas often will look dated but that is definitely not an issue with this drama. All the main leads are not only gorgeous but also good in acting. I'm also concurrently watching LQ's other drama My Dear Guardian and it just baffles me that LQ hasn't aged one bit. And, I'd like to repeat again that the main leads are gorgeous. I'm literally drooling

Communism is just the back story. The drama actually is a spy thriller. I personally find this drama engaging, it shows the different perspectives from the fractions, the emotions people go thru and the plot twists are so far logical.

Actually, I think Li Qin's acting is OK. It's just that her character can be annoying at times. But thats just the script. Apart from ep1, the rest of the show has been entertaining for me.

Ya the storyline has many plot holes and some tropes are cringe worthy to watch (like the polo training and match) but I'll continue watching because the acting per se of MLs and supporting casts are not bad. It's a waste, with a better script this could have been much better.
