Yes because I don't usually watch airing dramas, but lately I've been living dangerously so it's not completely off the table. Shockingly I'm planning to watch Heirs while it airs. LOL
And no because I don't usually like Hong Sister dramas. I call them the crazy Hongs because their dramas tend to drag ass too much. How has Master's Sun been in that regard?
But maybe I'll watch it. IF the ending is good. Seems like the series so far has not given any indication of what to expect.
I'm waay too American to live with that kind of uncertainty so I'll wait until Thursday to hear the word on the street! ;)
And seriously Akumi if you don't keep in touch I'll come at with you some serious whoop ass!!! You got it? You got it? ::insert crazy eyes::..
Haha, take care, my friend! :p

I guess dramaland is like everything else in life. You win some, you lose some.
As for Golden Empire, it's too soon to say. Have only watched up to ep 4 and the plot hasn't started to unfold yet. Story and characters are still being set up. But I like the acting & I'm curious to see where everything goes.
What factors the most in how I choose dramas is MOOD.
It has to be a drama I'm in the mood to watch. Then I'll check reviews, comments, friends opinions to see if the drama meets other criteria I may have in place.

Hmm ... looked up Full House 2 just now & realized the female lead is the same actress from Can You Hear My Heart. Ugh. I didn't like her. And she has yet another dubious hairstyle in FH 2! I think I'll pass on this one. But I'll maybe check him out in Pasta! Or maybe Terms of Validity for Love or Midas. :)

How is Full House Take 2 in terms of the romance?
From the posters and the stills I get the impression it's very cheesy & juvenile. For eg, are there any good kisses at all? Or just lip presses? With eyes wide open?
I have Knife & Flower on the list, but that's a Uhm Tæ Woong vehicle isn't it? So he's likely just playing a supporting role.
A Frozen Flower ... on the fence.

Lol, just by looking at his face alone I couldn't figure out that he was male! But I do agree, he is cute & I'd love to see him in something, but I can't take that hair in Full House 2. I also hear he's in My GF is Gumiho, but not as the lead.

If that's his position, it's lame ... given my track record as a producer. I have 6 full credits (meaning, projects on which I was lead producer) to my name & countless others where I was co-producer or associate producer. I've never not delivered a project on which I bore the main financial responsibility. In fact according to him it was mainly on THAT basis that he granted us the funding. And trust me he has the figures! When you send in an application for film funding you can't not include a budget, (projected) cash flow statements, liquidity plans etc etc. Filmmaking is just like any other business. Each new project requires its own business plan.
As far as I can see he's just being difficult because he can. There's a lot of politics involved.
And yes, you're right, film funding IS the hardest part of the process. It's the bane of every filmmaker's existence. Usually once the money is on the table, things move from stage to stage a little quicker.
I had to giggle at your comment about neighbourhood housewives. LOL
Actually nothing could be farther from the truth. When I pitched the idea for the movie to funders the first thing they asked me was why does the pedophile have to be female. I think some people were a little offended by that. But making the pedophile female was statement against exactly this type of bigotry.
It's a critique of a society where there's an unreasonable tendency to demonize one gender while putting the other up on a pedestal. With my movie I wanted to shed light on a little talked about phenomenon, that in fact female pedos DO exist & that women, on a level playing field with men, are just as capable of committing some pretty despicable crimes.

No, I've never used foreign talent before. Not on my own personal projects anyway. However, I have worked on productions (as co-producer) where there were foreign cast, though I wasn't a part of the process in choosing them.
I have confidence in going to London, though. It's a town that I know & love so fingers crossed, it'll be all good. Given the UK's long standing tradition in theatre, they produce some of THE best acting talent in the world. And they offer up a more diverse pool of talent to choose from too. Diversity is a non-negotiable aspect of all projects I work on. Sadly, there isn't a lot of diversity here in this country so it can be difficult sometimes to cast the way I want.
On my last short, a story about a mixed race kid going through an identity crisis, it was a struggle finding a minority boy who could act for the lead role. We actually never found him so we settled on a kid who had done some community theatre and not much else. I wanted to do a talent search overseas, but the budget wasn't there. I was pretty fresh out of film school, and to put it crassly, my ass was broke! :-) lol
So we made do with what we had. The film suffered somewhat because it was a very character-driven piece, and character-driven pieces NEED good actors. There's just no way around it. If ONE character is the backbone of your film, it's best to just wait it out until you find the actor who fits the role as closely as possible. Anyway, the kid did his best, but I certainly learned my lesson. On this new project I'm taking a completely new approach. Either we find the right talent or we don't go into production.

I looked up Great Teacher Onizuka again just to recall what appealed to me about it. There are a # of versions I see. I want to watch the one from 1998. The show seems like a great redemption story to me. Give my love of anti-heroes, redemption as a theme naturally holds broad appeal for me.
Working with Weerasethakul ... it's actually not on a movie, sadly. The guy is a consummate artist. He's not only into films, he's also a painter & photographer. He's been invited here for a local festival & he'll be displaying his photographic art at one of the biggest modern art museums in this town. I've been tasked with the job of being his assistant/associate producer during the exhibition. So my job is basically to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day & to guide/accompany Weerasethakul to various industry events and lead Q&A sessions between him & festival audience.
I plan to pick his brain dry on his (filmmaking) process. His films are so dreamy, surrealistic ... and weird in a good way! lol I love them so this is a great opportunity. When you get a chance you should check out Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (very popular & well-known so you might have already seen it?) & or Mekong Hotel.
Golden Empire, it's still early days, only on ep 4. Some interesting events have occurred, but the stage is still very much being set for what is to come so I'm just biding time. As of now I have no opinion one way or the other, just waiting to see where everything leads to. I'll keep you posted.

Yes, the mature nature of Que Sera Sera was what drew me to it as well. And I hardly think you'll be disappointed with Eric Munn. Not only does he deliver a solid performance, he's total eye candy too! :p
I've actually seen part of the 1st ep of Rascal Sons. Tæ-bum from OB is in it (which is nice because I like the actor), but gosh, I hate his hairstyle! lol I plan to pick it up again soon. Please let me know how it develops for you! :)

Pretty nice job you have! And you can work from home, even better!
Yup, I'm up for watching together. Let's do it.
I'm not very far in, on ep 4 so you should be able to catch up since you watch way faster than me.
No we haven't tried crowd funding, and this is probably not the best project to crowd fund with. It's a very dark, somewhat taboo theme (female pedophilia) that we'll address with the this film so it doesn't have a broad appeal. Plus as a production company we're still building our fanbase. We have a tiny following, but not enough to produce results. It has been statistically proven that crowdfunding only works when the film and or its makers have a pre-established following.
Other options exist though. There was supposed to be an application deadline for a regional film fund now in September, but they announced that the Sep funding round was scrapped because they used up all the money funding projects from the previous round in February. #smdh So the next opportunity to apply is Feb 2014. We intend to send in an app then.
However, in the event our app isn't successful (and the possibility is there due to all the politics involved in who gets what), we have to have a plan b, and that's to convince the film commissioner to allow us to make the film with the money that he's given us.
His concern is that we won't be able to deliver the project on €12 500 alone. It WILL be a tight shoot on that budget, but it's not impossible. If it's one thing I know it's that I'm a good producer. I can & have made things happen on very little. I already have a dedicated team who is willing to work for less than their standard fee just to get the project off the ground. So exactly what's this old geezer's deal, I don't know! Just being difficult to be difficult. Grrr...

Wow, you gave it a 10! Then you must have really enjoyed it! I'm glad. It remains one of the best family dramas that I've seen, but unlike you I didn't care for Choi Jung Yoon here at all. As I mentioned before this is where I decided to blacklist her for life. She drove me temporarily insane throughout this drama! haha
I see you're watching Rascal Sons. I want to see that one too. How is it for you so far?
From your list I'd recommend you give Que Sera Sera a go. It's a mad rollercoaster of a drama, but overall I found it pretty good. I have a review up if you'd like to get my impression of the show.

Moreover, from one no-self control freak to the next I feel you, my chingu. For real. Are you a graphic designer of some sort? Your job sounds interesting.
As for me, same shit, different day. I have a short that I want to shoot in the spring. Our budget was initially €25 000. We secured half the funding, but the investor insists that we need to find the remaining €12 500 before he's willing to pay out the money. We have not managed to get the rest of the money after 6 months of door banging so I'm now in the process of writing up a report which I hope will convince him to give us the money so we can shoot the bloody film with what we have.
Otherwise, I'm watching Golden Empire, which has been highly recommended to me by a number of people.
