Omo! I just noticed that Tæ Won is played by Song Chang Ui ... or whatever his name is! I LOOOOVED him in Golden Bride! Such a sweet guy! He suits these nice guy characters, but he always plays in dramas where he's controlled by his mother. I just can't fully respect a man who can't stand up to his mother. Come on!

Somebody needs to Lorena Bobbitt his ass. God, I really hate characters like him. I don't know how you tolerate dramas like these, sis. I really don't.
Heck, I didn't realize the show was so long! Thought it was about to be wrapped up!!! Oh, one thing I forgot to ask, how old is Eun Soo's sister? She's older than Eun Soo, but still a virgin????

Thx for the update, hon! As usual you crack me up with your very creative play with words. Visual diarrhea! Haha Girl, WHERE do you come up with these phrases???
I'm a lil disappointed we didn't get an all out show down this week. I'm not even watching the show & it already feels draggy to me. Does it feel that way to you? Anyway, finally happy to see that people are starting to get their due. Looks like next week is the sh*t! :)

I listened to the DVD commentary & the creators (writer David Benioff among others) said they had to leave out more than just a few details to fit not only into the time slot, but also the 10 ep (as opposed to 20+ on network TV) season count.
I can't wait to sink my teeth into them, though when I'll have time to read several 1000+ page books is anybody's guess! :)
You still haven't come with any erotica recs, btw. Are you avoiding my question or just caught up in our convo? :)
Did you start any dramas? Why don't you update your lists? Surely you've seen more than 5 dramas and 2 movies?

The same here. I used to love romance novels, but after I hit my twenties they lost all appeal. I mostly read crime, horror & fantasy. I'll read the occasional romance if it's an author I know & trust, but otherwise, no. When it comes to erotica though I don't seem to mind it. I still look for a story line, but because I can't read pure erotica I gravitate more toward romantic erotica. I'll read fantasy erotica too, but the ones I've come across weren't very well done.
In the books I mentioned most of the doms were women, whilst the men, except two, were subs. Eventually the main mistress turned out to be a switch, though she continued being Mistress to her subs. Anyway, doesn't seem BDSM is your thing so these might not be for you.
I'm still on the first book in Song of Ice & Fire. I never should have watched the series first because now I'm dragging my feet reading the books! Which is pure foolishness because I know the series takes great liberties with the story & plot!

Haha, porn isn't meant for entertainment. You just get your rocks off and be done with it! :p
The series I mentioned, which consists of 6 books, has two books dedicated to gay characters. The 1st & the 5th. I read the first book, have not read the fifth and probably won't.
I'm not homophobic (seriously), but I don't usually read gay fiction. Well, that's not entirely true. Once in a blue moon, but it's not my go to fare. I really enjoyed the writing in the first book, the characters were also okay, but I recall the story left something to be desired. I've heard good things about the 5th book, Rough Canvas.
If you have a kindle I do rec you give these book a try & see if they're for you. The D/s (and other BDSM elements) is intense, but not intolerable.
Song of Ice & Fire ... that's G R R Martin, isn't it?
One reason I prefer romantic erotica is because I sometimes find pure erotic fiction hard to stomach. People just fucking for fuck's sake. Page after page after page. Like you said, porn is boring! :) No judgment, mind you, but not my cuppa chai.

Haha, no, no fecal matter! Do people really enjoy reading about that stuff??? #smh To each their own I guess.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the Nature of Desire series by Joey w. Hill. I haven't read the entire series, only the first 4 books. Of those four my favourite was Ice Queen/Mirror of my Soul.
You seem to have very specific tastes so I can't guarantee you'll like it (if ever you choose to read it), but it's one I've rec'ed to fans of the genre & mostly people have enjoyed it.
I tend to prefer romantic erotica than pure erotic, though I do read both. What about you?
Can you recommend me some of the titles you enjoy? Even though I'm not reading as much as I used to, I still collect books. You never know how the tides might turn in the future!

Jo, what's up? Did you finish NINE???
We were supposed to watch the last ep together, remember?
As for sad dramas ... I don't like tragedies. I can watch one every once in a blue moon or if it's a story that's significant in history, but that's an exception to my general rule. I think life provides enough opportunities for sadness. I don't need more in my entertainment.
Not that I'm looking for complete escapism. I DO like watching dramas with a certain poignancy to them. Where everything isn't roses & bows, but not death & gloom either. I guess it's a balancing act.
Best example I can give is the movie 3-iron. It had just the right amount of sadness, but was also thoroughly infused with hope & lightness. That movie made me a fan of director, Kim Ki Duk. I can't remember if you've seen it?
What's been up with you lately?

Bourne, I still haven't watched the last ep of Nine yet. I guess I'll get to it when the time is right.
What are you watching these days, if anything?
I seem to be in a slump. Haven't watched a drama since ... well, Nine. But I have been catching up on some movies. Mostly Japanese classics which I'm starting love more than its contemporary cinema.
By the way are you familiar with Thai director Pen-Ek Ratanaruang?

I haven't seen Phoenix with my main squeeze, Lee Seo Jin. But I most definitely will! :)
Did you finish it? How was it?
Man, I can't wait for the day Eric Munn does another drama that's watchable for me! That brother is seriously hot! lol

Displaced, apologies for the late reply!
I realize as time goes by I'm getting pickier and pickier about dramas I watch. Sometimes dramas are too wayward in insulting people's intelligence so I can't be bothered with most of them unless I'm in a specific mood for pure silliness.
When it comes to my viewing preferences I do have certain genres I enjoy more than others (as you saw on my profile), but I literally watch anything according to my mood. A few months ago I found it impossible to watch anything that wasn't romance related. Now I seem to have developed a strong appetite for Japanese classics -- which I'm starting to enjoy MORE than their contemporary cinema because the stories are richer, the emotional impact stronger & many are surprisingly less prudish than their contemporaries. In fact watching latter day Japanese cinema one might think the country has experience some sort of sexual regression the way they make a big deal of 2 characters holding hands! lol
Anyway, loved your article on Oguri Shun! He's not the most beautiful man on the planet, but he's just the way I like my men! Fell in love with him in Rich Man, Poor Woman & can't wait to see him in other shows & movies as inspired by your article! :)

I'm sorry it has taken so long to write you back. I've been a little busy & stressed out as usual. Anyway, thx for the news about ms. Nina-ssi. She did mention taking on a bit more responsibility at her job. Good for her! Though I miss having her around.
As for what I've been watching, nothing much drama wise. Seems like I'm in a little slump, though I wasn't expecting to be. I think my last drama was Nine & I loved it! :)
I've mostly been trying to put a dent in my movie watch list. Since that list just keep getting more and more pregnant.
I read just now on facebook that Seo Jin's new drama has already breached the 30% mark in ratings after only 2 eps! Looks like I'm not the only one who's missed him! The entire nation of Korea has been wondering where the heck the guy's been holding up! lol

King2Heart was pretty hyped on this site, but I'm not surprised it's not living up to expectation. I'm a Ha Ji Won anti-fan so I'll never watch it (esp since I'm not into any of the male leads). I am looking forward to your review, however. When's it coming? It's been 2 weeks now since you've watched the show. Did you write it & I missed it somehow? I hope you're well, ms. Ela! :)

Hello ms. Juniko, you must forgive me for taking 2 whole weeks to respond to your post. It's all due to overwork, stress, mental exhaustion & laziness. My apologies.
My grand plan to go shake my booty with the Ahjussi fell thru when he opted to watch the Olympics than 'patronize commercialism' or something to that effect ... his words. He did give me a good undramalike kiss & warm cuddles though so I guess no valentiney gift trumps that! :)
And I got to hang out with my good friend Lena from Latvia. We had some Indian & downed 2 bottles of white! ;) She's a good 12 yrs or so older than me, but so much fun! I intend to share her story with a Japanese boyfriend sometime on the feeds! It's like straight out of a drama, I tell you! ahaha
Re: LJW ... it's possible he has an issue with his sad face, but who cares Juniko??? Oppa is totally asmokin'! haha No, seriously though, you may be right! I can't remember. I'll keep a look out when I finally WATCH THE LAST EP! Don't ask me what I'm waiting on! I can be such a pussy sometimes, scared of bad ambiguous endings & sad endings...
How did your plans go down after your cold? Did you manage to entertain your guests? And if I'm not being too forward, how is your love life??? Whatever was the conclusion with that Japanese guy? Are you two still up at all hours of the night chatting? I know you're currently single ... which I think is a good thing, but you're allowed to have friends of the male persuasion, ani? ;)

I've been watching mostly movies of late, Japanese classics which I'm starting to love more than it's contemporary cinema & a few mindf**k movies from the aficionado of bizarre, Takashi Miike.
I can't seem to muster the interest to start a new drama! It's been a few weeks now.
What are you watching that's good for you? Are you still mostly watching American shows? Are you watching any of the newer ones? I've heard House of Cards with Kevin Spacey & Bates Motel (with my favourite actress Vera Farmiga) are pretty good. At some point I might check 'em out.
Haha, actually I'm thinking of returning to my original name. I'm not divorcing mr. Lee, but I'm starting to feel like I've lost my identity bearing his name around. Haha! :)

Seem like you and me are running in the same heat. I haven't watched a drama for a while now. It's been mostly movies the last weeks. While some viewers combine movies & dramas effortlessly I seem to go for one or the other in spurts. Prior to Christmas my PTW became pregnant with films I wanted to watch, but had no interest to start. Now I can't seem to muster the interest to start a new drama. I guess I'm fed up with the usual predictability & silliness of most Asian dramas. I'm convinced they're making my brain rot! lol
Having said that they have this magnetic pull that make me realize I won't completely walk away. And every blue moon there's a good drama that doesn't totally insult your intelligence.
Speaking of which I wonder how you'd feel about Golden Empire? Have you seen it?
I used to be a big (romantic) erotica fan back in the day. Nowadays I seem to have lost the joy for reading. I haven't read a book in ages. Anyway, what erotica are you reading? Do you like BDSM? I may have some good recs if that's your cup of tea.

Ok, did NOT mean to imply that not accepting the plot at face value equals to not being intelligent ... not at all. I'm sorry if what I wrote came across that way.
My point is simply that acknowledging an audience may not be complete nitwits is a virtue of the craft. You don't have to spell everything out (which the writers did not do here) for people to get what you're trying to say. Creators can intend for us to see one thing & we end up seeing something completely different. That's simply the nature of art.
People can deduce things for themselves, which is why you & I arrived at completely different interpretations of the same character. They trusted us to evaluate & draw our own conclusions (independently of what they intended, though I continue to believe there was a great deal of the writer's subjectivity -- rather than staying true to the character -- in TJ's final choice).
Most people watch shows for escapism & fun. I do too, but I love it when said shows challenge me beyond just mindless entertainment.
It's important to note that ALL my interpretations were based on plot cues placed there BY the writers (and to an extent the actors too). I've given concrete examples ... which I did not make up. When I used terms such as 'I think' & 'I believe' it's not just based on my own subjective feeling, but on an objective overall evaluation of the facts (both stated & implied) as presented in the drama.
So no, not me wanting to become the writer or changing the scope of the story. I merely saw what was there to see, whether that was the intention of the creators or not. :)
Heck, I didn't realize the show was so long! Thought it was about to be wrapped up!!! Oh, one thing I forgot to ask, how old is Eun Soo's sister? She's older than Eun Soo, but still a virgin????
