He looks like the guy in my wildest nightmare ... and I actually like horror too! :)
By the way did you watch Inferno of Torture? Actually when I was watching it I thought of you. I wondered what a Japanese cinema aficionado like you would think of it. It was such a breathtakingly violent movie with a rather strange, yet poignant, love story at its core. I hope you'll watch it! :)

I wasn't looking out for it, trust me. It just jumped out at me.

And perhaps my eye is trained to analyze shot angles a little more than average, but it actually was too obvious.

The shot was high - angle (looking downwards) which make the subjects look smaller. The hand looked veeery small even from a high angle so that's when I thought that has to be a woman!

You might not be an observant viewer, but I can't be the only one who noticed this very important & spoilery detail.
After I knew the villain was female there wasn't really anyone else it could be ... other than who it was. So the whole movie was spoiled for me 20 mins in! lol

Director might have missed it because he looks at the footage too often, but the editor should have picked up on it in the cutting room.

It was a bad flick. Complete waste of talent.

Anyway, how have you been lately, meine freunden? What have you been watching?

Oh you did? How nice.
Was there a particular thing that happened to make you think of me or just the vibe you got from the drama?

Hey cuz, you can see the genres I love on my profile. Have a look! :)

I have Byakuyako on my list! Wow, I love the way you described it though 'this drama will make you wonder about your sanity to even root for them ...'

That makes me wanna go watch it NOW! haha

I actually haven't started Taisetsu. It's just been permanently parked on my list the last month or so, but it will be my next drama. I need to finally meet this Miura Haruma guy who everyone is crazy about. :)

Golden Empire is not longer than average. It has 24 eps which is the standard if you consider that most 'short' kdramas fall somewhere between 16 - 24 eps. If you are a fan of Son Hyun Joo, AND Go Soo on top of it, you'd be missing waaaay out if you pass up on this! Believe me. :)

I had plans to watch White Christmas because it's so short & everyone says it's so suspenseful, but I'm not surprised it's underwhelming. A lot of Korean shows are not for thinking people. I've been disappointed by a lot of their so-called thrillers. That's another reason why GE is so good because it engages your intellect and your morality (if one possesses any) beyond the norm.

Anyway, no more plugging GE! hehehe

What else are you watching besides Nine & White Christmas, if anything? I'm not watching any dramas right now. Too busy, but I've made up my mind that my next drama will be Japanese. Been a while since my last jdrama! Maybe I'll check out one of your recs. Have you seen Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta? If so, what did you think of it? It stars this Miura Haruma guy that everyone says is so sexy. I wanna see for myself! :)

Thank you for the encouragement. We'll see how it all goes.

As for I Saw the Devil, it's a dark movie about a serial killer & the Korean fbi agent who goes after him for revenge. To me it's not really horror, but I put horror as a genre because some people may be disturbed by certain scenes of graphic violence. If you're not disturbed by violence on screen then it's a thriller, not a horror. The film is driven by suspense and themes of retribution and revenge. It's a good picture. Of the three I recommended, it's probably the best of the lot. You should really give it a chance.

Whichever you watch I hope you enjoy them. Let me know. :)

I'm not watching anything right now, sis. I'm going through a busy period at work & must force myself not to watch any drama because once I start I can't stop! lol

But last drama I completed was Golden Bride. Long family drama (with the # of completed drama on your list I'm sure you've seen it). I liked it, even though the drama draaaaagged a lot! But surprisingly I'd still recommend it since it's kind of different from most dramas - of this genre & otherwise. Evil mother in laws were not a driving force in this drama (in fact this is the first drama I've seen where the mils were mostly nice). I loved that the drama featured a woman who had ambitions other than being a wife/mother (not that anything is wrong with wanting to be a wife & mother). I just like a diversity of representations when it comes to different groups (women, minority characters etc). Anyway, I loved that the drama didn't use a lot of the tired old cliches.

Next I want to watch something Japanese. I haven't watched a jdrama in ages! It's time I revisit the land of the rising sun. Can you rec me any good ones? Preferably something from the '90s. :)

Yes, very lame the kisses were all throughout the drama, not just with Joo Won & Uee, but all the other couples too. However, what makes OB good is the bromance. There are 4 brothers so lots of soju drinking in the tent, lamentations about their respective woman/family problems & some funny scenes. Not perfect, but one of the better family dramas I've seen.

Omo, if you're a Son Hyun Joo fan you should definitely watch Golden Empire!!! It's an AMAZING drama. My favourite drama of 2013. It's a business drama that has something to say about society. And girl, let me tell you, you will witness some of the best acting ever in this drama. Not just by Son, but by the whole damn cast. This was just one very well put together drama. Without having seen him in many other roles I'm willing to go out on a limb and say this is his best role yet!

His worse would be in Hide & Seek. Not by any fault of his own, mind you. The writing and direction of that movie are total crap. Did not make good use of his enormous talent at all. If you get around to watching GE I do hope you enjoy it!

LOL, you don't sound very enthusiastic about Nine! Oh well, hopefully it will pick up for you if you manage to get thru it! I'm actually surprised to hear that you're bored by White Christmas ... this one seems to be verrry popular with pretty much glowing reviews all around. Granted, I never really put too much stock in the majority of MDL reviews because mostly teenagers populate the site and usually what they consider quality is not for me. What are you not liking about the show?

Ok, maybe I give Emergency Couple a go even though it's a medical drama. What's his face is looking way too fine to miss out on this!

Same goes for Oh Ji Ho in that detective drama ... omo! I've always wanted to see this hot man in drama but couldn't find one to suit my taste. I'll listen out for the buzz on this one! :)

Yeah I watched the whole thing, mostly for a guy named Ryu Soo Young. I'm a fan of his, sort of. I thought the drama was mostly okay so I'd recommend you give it a go. The kisses between Uee & Joo Won were lame though. :/

Did you watch Son Hyun Joo in Golden Empire? Girl, if you haven't, you should! SICK! I hated his character, but the man was on fire in that drama.

I wouldn't have been able to finish Golden Bride if I didn't skip like 25+ episodes. It's definitely NOT a drama you marathon, not just because it's long, but because the repetitiveness will piss you off if you watch it all in one go. I only watched the scenes with the main couple. They were so impossibly sweet & cute (in an adult way). It can also be very cheesy in parts, but mostly I just loved their dynamic. I thought the male lead represented well what it means to be a good husband. He was so loving and attentive and supportive of his wife, something you don't see a lot of Korean heroes doing.

Anyway, it's best to watch this over a very long period of time. In total I think it took me about 2 mths to finish it because I'd only watch an ep or 2 per week.

Hmm, I had a look at Taki's page. Don't think I've ever seen him in anything but he's cute. Shall look forward to meeting him soon! Thx for the intro. :)

Hey, how's Nine coming along? Hook or drop?

LOL, you know what I DO think whatever an expectant mom uses to pass her time will rub off on the baby. My mom was a very avid reader when she was pregnant with me & I grew up to LOVE books! Before I discovered drama I read at least 3-4 books a month! Sometimes more ... that's why my eyesight is so bad now. LOL!

Anyway, what kind of dramas do you like? And are you watching anything now that's rocking your world? :)

Yeah, I sure as heck second that ... Ji Sung taking on more roles like P.S., but now that he married Lee Bo Young let's hope she hasn't totally locked him down! That would be a real pity for us! haha

Lee Soon Shin was pretty universally panned. That made me avoid it. Did you see Ojakgyo Brothers? That's a good one. Generally I like family dramas. Their length sometimes turn me off because it's too much of a time commitment, but I like the family warmth & the romance. Sun Hyun Joo, a great actor I recently discovered in Golden Empire, is one of the leads in My too Perfect Sons. I'd watch it, but no kisses??? At all? Aigoo...

Family Honor is one that I've heard a lot about. I tried watching the first ep but couldn't get into it. Are there any kisses in that? Maybe I'll maybe give it another go.

I just came off a long drama called Golden Bride. It's very draggy, but very good & surprisingly modern in many ways. It also featured one of the sweetest romance I've ever seen. I would recommend it. Look out for my update about it on the feeds. I'll briefly explain why people should try it even though it's draggy & should have never been extended by 14 eps.

Thx for the recs. I'll check out the ones that aren't already on my list! I don't think I've ever 'met' Takizawa Hideaki. Tell me why you love him! :p

Title Cheap Love
Again one drama what is hard to find. From 10 i have found 7...i hope find other too. First impression is good,…
Rain, I totally agree about older jdramas seeming more natural. If you find this drama subbed anywhere let me know! It sounds good.

Bahaha ... omg, memories! That bed scene in Petty! haha Mad! MAAAD!!!

Listen, I spent the good part of a year disliking Ji Sung after seeing him in a crazy makjang/melodrama called Save the Last Dance For Me. But I totally fell in love with him in P.S., let me tell you! lol Not only was he superfine in that movie, but the panty song was just ridiculous! Sick! I couldn't stop LMAO!

Even now I'm sitting here giggling like a bamshee. My Ahjussi is wondering if I'm getting off my head or something! LOL. Definitely check out Everything about my Wife. It's not as funny as those two, but it's pretty special in its own right.

Now as for forehead kissing & hugs ... omg, nothing annoys me more! lol I finished a long drama not too long ago where all the damn leads did was HUG. HUG! For 54 god darn episodes! Ok, no, there was ONE paltry kiss at the beginning, but for the rest of the ENTIRE show ... nothing but freakin' hugs! I was so mad! haha

I try to avoid these dramas much as possible, but sometimes they sneak in & drive me crazy. Do you watch long dramas?

It's always fun meeting someone with similar taste so I'm glad you added me too! :D

Oh, and I'm looking forward to the recs! Please remember quickly! :p

I have Love Revolution on the list. I hear it's romantic and good with a nice ending so I'm savouring it! I don't want to watch it too quickly & then have nothing else to turn to! :)

I saw Lovers in Prague lately & I hated it so I won't watch Lovers in Paris, even though the writer of both dramas (Kim Eun Sook) is one of my favourites. Her dramas always feature mature leads (in their mid to late 30s) in mature situations and her kisses are always the real deal. None of this blushing just by the mere touch of a hand or frozen face smooches.

I'm too old now (well not THAT old) to find such nonsense cute! LOL That's for tweens and adolescents.

By the way, I've seen both Petty Romance & P.S. Partner & I loved them! They were hilarious! hahaha

Another good one along the same line as these comedies is Everything about my Wife! It stars the male lead from Petty! Pretty funny!

I have a specific day dedicated just to rewatching my favourite dramas. Somehow dramas like Lovers & Pride just never get old for me.

Do you have any good 90s jdrama you can rec to me? It's interesting that I'm so drawn to 90s jdrama, but I can't stand older kdramas. I find them too riddled with ridiculous cliches & you can bet your last dollar that they'll keep the lead couple apart until the very end of the drama when one of them dies from cancer. I avoid them like the plague. I try not to watch kdramas older than '08. Lovers & a few others being the only exception.

I know Stars Falling is very sad, that's why I haven't watched it yet. And the only reason I will watch it is for Kimo. Have you seen Beautiful Life? I hear that's another good but sad one. I can also highly recommend his movie Love & Honour.

I see you recently completed Petty Romance & My P.S. Partner. How did you like them? Your review of The Thieves reminds that I need to watch that movie asap! Sounds really fun!

He sure does! That kitchen kiss in Pride was wicked! Now if only more of these later j-dramas would follow suit. It's strange, I find that 90s jdramas are waaay better in the kissing/romance department than dramas of today. It's almost as if Japan experienced a cultural regression of some sort & this outlawed all french kissing on screen. lol

I've heard that A Million Stars from the Skies is pretty taboo - I don't know if it's incest or what's in it (don't tell me), but I've seen some pretty strong reactions to it here on the site. Anyway, those things don't bother me so I'm looking forward to watching it one day soon! :)

I thought I was the only one who was totally underwhelmed by QIHM. I got frustrated with the fact that every time there was a romantic scene something would happen to interrupt it. So you never get to savour those sweet moments between the leads. And not only that, the travel made no sense whatsoever. The rules kept changing as the writers couldn't make up their minds what story they want to tell. Either that or they were on crack. Nine is far more solid in the writing department; even the romance is lot better too (though I'm not a fan of the female lead).

And I'm so with you on those depressing melodramas! My first k-drama was a 'cancer' drama & it left me feeling down and out for days! :/

oOOO, always nice to meet a Lovers fan! Thx for sending the request. :) It's one of my all time favourite dramas & I loved Pride!!! It's what got me hooked on Kimura-san! <3
It's true though, isn't it, re those fish kisses! I don't know what that is but I know I bloody hate 'em! haha :)

Try to keep watching Nine. It gets more interesting with each episode. I thought it was a lot better done than its predecessor, Queen In-Hyun's Man (though not everyone will agree with me). Besides don't you find the male lead totally haaaawt? ;)

What genres do you normally enjoy?
