I disagree. This drama targets mature audiences who'll be able to appreciate the understated, but nonetheless strong, romantic currents between Tæ-joo & Soel-Hee. Perhaps your advice is more suited for the 18-24 demographic who might be looking for flower boy cuteness which I agree this drama does not have.

Review Hide and Seek
Just watch carefully (or not because these discrepancies jumped straight out at me without me looking for them) & you'll see exactly what I mean! Madness ...

Thx for the request. What kind of dramas do you like?

I watched only a handful of 2013 dramas, but of those few my favs in order of preference (based on which stimulated me most intellectually):

1) Golden Empire
2) Nine
3) Cruel City

GE is fairly well written. The moral of the story is noteworthy & thought provoking, but with lesser actors this show would have been a massive dub because there's A LOT of exposition. People sitting in rooms just talking, talking, talking ... that's the first thing they teach you NOT to do in Screenwriting 101. However, the actors made these characters into living, breathing people. They were the true champions of the show. They made what could've been a really sleep inducing drama into something phenomenal and mindblowingly riveting! And for those who like romance there's romance. It's just very low key, but nicely done in the context of the story.

As for Cruel City, while it was entertaining I can not agree in any way that it was well-written. Every time the writers wrote themselves into a corner ... they changed the trajectory of the story to get out of it. They gave little thought to whether such changes made sense, they just changed it because they had to come up with an explanation, ANY explanation, as to why such and such character did this or that. Not to mention a bunch of so-called professional gangsters acting like bumbling amateurs. Even a wankster like me could shake down a drug deal better than those nitwits. But when all's said & done who gives a sh**? Doctor's Son is a BOSS & that hot bed scene! Wow!

Nine was a surprise. I expected to hate it, but I loved it. It had none of the implausibility of QIHM, it had beautiful romantic scenes & aigoo ... Lee Jin Wook just landed himself a new fangirl.

I watched this a few months ago. The whole drama could've been more memorable IF ONLY they have a different female…
Yeah, she's not a fav, but she turned out to be not as aggravating as I've seen her elsewhere. How far along are you now? Are you done watching? I still need to watch the last ep. For some irrational, inexplicable reason I'm terrified to click that dial.

Nice review, Noona.
I don't necessarily want to watch They Kiss (ISWAK) because I don't really like the premise ... I mean girl throwing herself shamelessly at some guy who treats her like crap ... I can't be bothered with that, but I do want to watch They Kiss Again (exactly because I get the impression that it takes a more adult, mature approach). Would I be totally lost if I skipped the former and jumped right into the latter?

Nice review of Master's Sun, but So Ji Sub didn't play in The Greatest Love. Crazy Dok Go-jin was played by hot ahjussi Cha Seung Won. Even though I only saw 1 ep of Master's Sun I understand why you'd confuse So Ji Sub's role with Dok Go-jin. The characters shared similar traits, to an extent.

@Suede (your new nic is just too long, chingu! ;) ... I actually like Kim Min Joon, but his character here turned me off big time. I need to see him in a more well-written role to rid my palate of this bitter experience.

Omo, I didn't know WWM3x was a 50 ep family drama! But who is professing love to who? Is the female lead going back to her first husband? Who is the male lead? I need to know before I decide to watch it. What's the name of that taiwanese drama? I don't know who George Hu is...
Forgive this eonni who don't know nothin' ... :)

I don't trust the writer of this drama. This woman is known for her tragedies. If this ends up being gut-wrenching & tragic, I won't be able to watch it ... not even for my darling Seo-jin! :/

I don't have the time to watch dramas at the moment. Too much work. And I slacked off a lot watching dramas during the holidays so have to make up for all that wasted time. To relax I sometimes speed watch an episode or two of a drama called Golden Bride, but I can't do more than that for now. Keeping an ear out on Ms. Korea. Keep me updated. How's Woman Who Married 3x?

I totally agree about the focus on character/relationship development. In fact this is where Asian TV & cinema isn't just entertainment for me, but inspiration for my work as an up and coming writer/director.

I also agree about the actors seeming more relatable. Like people you interact with every day. I love that Asian dramas have the uncanny ability to reflect real life as real people live it. Many times when I watch western shows (and esp Hollywood ones) there's a total disconnection from the world the characters live in & real life experiences as I know it.

Finally I like that things aren't oversexualized. On the other hand I don't like how stupidly sexuality & intimacy are portrayed in dramaland. When the skinskip seem unnatural and fake. It's just as frustrating as the pornography that has basically taken over western TV.

I agree with Golden Empire. People shouldn't dwell too much on the corporate setting, but the moral of the story. Lots of lessons to learn. Amazing acting all around. Good drama.

I find most of these couply things a little bit childish. Personally I wouldn't engage in them with my significant other, but to each their own. Well, my Ahjussi and I have colour coordinated our clothing when we attended a New Years theme party, but that's about it. It's something neither of us have an interest in doing on a daily or semi regular basis. I guess this is more for you young'uns (18-24)! :)

Well, if you do a bit of research before committing to a drama you can sometimes weed out the ones that don't suit your taste. Works for me. Anyway, fine, do whatever you like, doc. I see I won't be able to reason with you.
