Okay, I feel a bit better. Unfortunately a lot of dramas end like the writers fell asleep in the middle of a sentence, leaving the viewer frustrated & unsatisfied. That's what I'm afraid of. I positively HATE endings like those. However, if you liked it that much then I guess it can't be as bad as Aishiteru, which tells me I'll probably like it too.
I'm okay with unconventional endings, when they're intelligent & leaves the audience with a solid sense of closure even if everything isn't spelled out for you. Perfect example would be the ending of the movie 3-Iron. Have you seen it?
But I'm curious ... you said there's no trial separation, but they ARE separated, albeit involuntarily, given that Sun Woo is stuck in the past.
I've spent the whole day trying to figure out how they can still be together if the older him not only died in past, but is also stuck there with no way of going back even if he lived. Only thing I came up with is that time lapses normally for Sun Woo the younger, but he'll die at 38 (since that's the age he died when he got stuck in the past). Oh, I dunno, I dunno! Guess I should just go & WATCH the darn thing! lol
By the way to cheer myself up after Sun Woo died ep 19 I started a new drama, Can We Get Married. It has the potential to be one we'd both like. Lots of relationship drama & awesome kisses and skinship. I'm on ep 3 now. I'll keep you posted.

Sure, when your kids are teenagers or in their early 20s. I can even understand the interference with Sin-ho, given that he doesn't take anything seriously, but gosh In ho & Jeon Seol are grown and can clearly make their own decisions. Why, at their age, must they break up their relationship because mom & dad said so? It just seems bizarre to me & far too extreme for me to accept. It also doesn't sit well with me when a parent threatens his/her grown child with disownment just because they don't do as you say. They're human beings, not property.

OMG, you're sooo gonna wanna strangle her. Sick!
By this point I was also super annoyed with the elders & how they manipulate/coerce the children.

Keep at it. It's a flawed, but reasonably fun ride overall.
However, I didn't care for the ending. Only time will tell whether it works for you.

Omo, chingu, looong time! And my fault, I know! I still owe you a pm.
I haven't forgotten it. I've just been way busy ... sometimes my brain's just too fried to write anything! But in the meantime, how have you been??? What have you been watching lately?
By the way, I just noticed that your bday is just 2 days before mine! Happy Belated Earthstrong, fellow Saggi! :)

We like all the same things, except that I don't really care for damsels-in-distress or women that are too badass. I like when there's a nice middle ground. It annoys me when I see scenes in which the man is trying to protect the woman, he's getting the crap beaten out of him and the woman just stands there cowering. I mean, get something ... ANYTHING and whack the damn bad guy over the head! There's no way I'd just stand and watch my BF get beaten up. And I don't think most women would either. Or maybe I'm just too loyal or something ... I dunno.
Interestingly before I started watching copious amounts of Asian TV I didn't mind damsel in distress heroines in Western cinema all that much (maybe because there's a better balance of DiDs & stronger types), but for some reason they rub me the wrong way in Asian cinema.
I love romances in which the love is really palpable, when they love each other deeply with equal fervour (don't like when one loves more than the other). Something like what we saw in MARS, for eg. Or even here in Nine.
Speaking of which, would you say that the ending is more or less satisfying than Aishiteru to Ikketure? I have only the last ep left, but for some reason I'm really scared to watch it. Sun Woo is apparently already dead in ep 19 & I'm so cut up about it, but I've kind of come terms with it. I don't want to exacerbate my sadness with more meaningless melodrama if there's no true happy ending for them. But tell me your opinion. Since we're both romance junkies, have mostly the same tastes & had the same reaction to Aishiteru I'll listen to you. :)
I watched this a few months ago. The whole drama could've been more memorable IF ONLY they have a different female…
Now that I've watched it ... I didn't mind her, but I would've still preferred someone else in the role.

Lovers features a slow burning romance, and it does take a good few episodes for you to see the actual thing. Many people didn't care for all the angst leading up to them officially becoming a couple, but I personally loved it! :) I felt it worked within the general context of the drama. I found it interesting that Kang Jæ kept acting all jealous & possessive of Mi Joo when he in fact didn't have any rights to her. For me that hot sexual chemistry & the longing between them was almost better than the real thing. I understand though if you don't feel the same way. All I can say is just be patient (and don't worry about KJ's baby mama).

Aaron, how are the holidays treatin' you?
Hope you had a Merry Christmas & Happy plans for the New Year.
I'm watching Nine & so far it has been a good ride! It's fluctuating between an 8 & a 9 for me. I'm only slightly worried about the ending. Asian endings always have a way of effing up otherwise fun dramas ... as you know. Someone even advised me to quit the show at ep 19. I don't know yet what I'm going to do. Anyway, just wanted to drop you a little update since I know it's a show you love. BTW, I LOVE how the romance is done here! There's just the right amount of it & it feels very mature. I love how he grabs her & plant a proper one on her!! :) If only other dramas would follow suit...
How's Lovers going? I see you're on ep 10.

Speaking of Chinese dramas I've been meaning to ask you about Ru Yi. I see you're well into it. Is it a tragic romance type of drama? I wouldn't mind watching it, but not if it's just death & melancholy as these epic stories tend to be...
ETA: I hear you, re HJW & K2H. I doubt my feelings about her will change (like I said, I gave her lots of chances), but I'll keep your comment in mind.

It's uncanny how we sometimes interpret shows in the exact same way. I share the same sentiments about JKH. I actually started watching him in Smile, You first, then I quit the show, started CC & was blown away by his transformation into Doc Son! By far, he's one of the best young Korean actors working today.
I think you'll also enjoy Nine. The story & acting are so far making a very good impression, much to my surprise (everyone said the beginning was really slow). I love how they do the romance here. It seems natural & credible and it's featured prominently through the show so far, even though it's secondary to the plot. I wish more shows would do the same! Had CC incorporated the romance as well as Nine it actually would have been a better show. As it was it just felt very contrived. You'll see what I mean.

It makes PERFECT sense!
These were the same issues I had with the show.
The deficiency is in the writing more so than the editing, as far as I see it. The writers constantly write themselves into a corner then use convenient devices to get out of it. It's clear the plot was never very well planned out. And the constant changes in the characterizations seemed incredible to me. Nevertheless, it still manages to keep one invested in spite of this. Hope you enjoy it.

I started Nine & I must say so far it's very good. I'm actually liking it a lot more than I expected. Hopefully it will continue down it's current path & not veer off into lame land.

Don't mention it! I've created a monster. I don't know when I'm going to find the time to watch everything on it.
I've been so-so. Just working as usual and watching dramas as much as I can, when I can. What about yourself? I have spoken to you in a looooong time!
Your activity on the site has significantly reduced compared to when I first met you. Is there a reason for that?
If I remember correctly you experienced a major slump & couldn't restore your love for dramas ... did I remember that correctly?
Anyway, it's nice hearing from you! Don't be a stranger! :)
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you!
