This is commendable special effects for a 48 episode Chinese drama. Aside from that the sets are so beautifully detailed every scene is almost like a painting. This is the best production value this year or probably on the same level with the rebel princess.

Really? The rebellion was a long time before Fang Zhu even met Haishi. I think the age gap is almost 20 years and Fang Zhu is 35 but let's see.

Yes it's not completely her fault. It was FangZhu's decision to go against the emperor.

In order to protect Haishi, Fang Zhu expelled her and that's what he told the emperor when he refused to give her up. That's why Di Xu ordered the punishment. If Hai Shi hadn't gone she wouldn't need to be protected and Fang Zhu wouldn't have been flogged.

The full concept actually involves a lot of fantasy elements and previous franchises have taken time to explore them. But this drama is very focused on the six main characters. Politics and fantasy elements are just a backdrop used for storytelling. There was a mermaid in the first episode and there'll probably be more on that later since the FL's background is connected to the sea area.

He trusts him, but I don't think he trusts his way of doing things. If he had told him then it would have led to a public investigation and then the guilty parties would just hide the evidence. Di Xu seems to do things on a whim, the wedding was obviously very important for national interests but he almost caused trouble and still punished Fang Zhu for rectifying. The political plotline is actually very simple there isn't room for plot holes, after all it's just a backdrop for the six main characters.
