For me Japanese drama isnt so interesting anymore. Mainly it bases or is adaptation of mangas. So once you already know story and if adaptation doesnt make it onto same level ...it is just boring.
There is more aspects why i nowdays rarely watch Japanese drama .
I started watching with Japanese dramas but after i finished all older ones, with original scripts, what i could find, new ones were kinda disapointingly low quality, so I crossed over to kdrama. I have tried other countries too but i have rarely found anything what interests me bc i have kinda picky taste if it comes to acting, directing and script writing.
Ep. 4, when Suk Ho and Geu Rin are talking in the middle of the night and he holds both of her arms and says that…
If i looked him, all was very ok, if i looked her...it was kinda ok but if i looked both together ...something was off. It was same way awkward like falling at coffee window scene.
Ji Sung works so hard to make some chemistry but his partner gives wrong feedback. It is for me first time to see that Ji Sung cant create chemistry from first scene with his partner.
Same time he has good chemistry with producing company female manager, tiny spark more and fire is out.
LOL...for that new method of CPR we can thank narrowminded morality of Korean audience. It would have made HUGE scandal if he was given that CPR in right way......so...outcome is just weird but strongly with healthy moral for younger audience...:P
Sometimes I dont know laugh or cry if I see how tightly in some dramas that unatural moral side is keeped up. Under that category go scenes with kisses "eyes wide open -stiff like lampost" too.
I agee that plot part was weakest side for this drama. When characters were written perfectly and acted out well, story side was too big for so short drama. Many events and issues would demanded more time and details, now they were just like sketches made for lightly marking what can happen in real life. They would have needed at least 50 eps to make plot with all thous events and issues look solid and good....and i cant even imagine how big budget is needed to do it so.
Of course with bit better and more creative directing would have saved drama from some flaws but seems that being accurate with every detail wasnt goal, main goal was set to feelings and emotions. In that they succeeded.
So...is it ower-hyped? Yes and No. Actors in this drama deserve all hype what is given but on production level....yes it is ower-hyped.

Story itself is interesting, main male lead ....we all know how capable and talanted he is.

Only lack of chemistry between main leads....cant be main reason, more like cover up.
We know he can make it happen later, for him this is piece of cake and they know it too.
But this is true that their level in acting is too uneven and might harm bigger picture, her level is too low even if compare with second lead or supporting cast. Still it isnt rare in dramaland and happens often and often gets forgiven.....
Why now so drastic reaction onto usual situation?
Or they fear that next "CIIT case" is gonna happen? Then change of director would have been better choice.
I fear that main reason why response was "negative" was how they pictured that "shiny" entertaiment world, a lot of ent.companies could feel like looking into mirror.
Some dirty moves what bosses of ent. company pulled off are kinda familiar from latest scandals and rumours.
So.....there is well know tie between ent. companies and tv channels, later ones greatly depend from ent. companies, who deside were and what idols and celebrities are going. Without them TV channels are like fish without water.

I watched the 2 episodes over, this time with subtitles and I have to say this drama suffers from nothing but…
I agree, directing is lacking. This made first ep. so jumpy and edgy + in second episode caused few very awkward moments. now it depends how flexible that director is - does he allows actors freedom to create or demands scenes to be like he imagines them....and his imagination is kinda stiff and filled with clishes.
Still main lead goes strong already, he laid out main points of his charaters personality, added few deeper tones with tiny gestures and details. I already figured out who he was in the beginning of drama and why he was like that. Base is done well and now character growth can start.
Main female lead isnt so good with this, I still dont see her character, just few details what doesnt want click well. Other main and suporting cast is ok.
This drama is short one, only 16 ep. , so they dont have luxury to dragg or just fool around.
But lets see what next week brings, after that already 1/4 of drama is done.
TOP...his unique humour sense and view to life. Outside so cool and inside so fragile. He and his cursed lovelife, he and his determination in work, his try to keep his private life and celebrity life a part. There is so many sides of him.....
I love him like musican and I like his acting style.
Once papa YG compared members of Big Bang with trees and TOP was discribed like tree which is handsome even though the appearance maybe a little weird.
I feel that the writer had intended to die hero .. but changed it for the fans .. generally very beautiful drama…
Actually there was bit different ending (or should i say fate for second lead couple) when writer finished script ( not so happy one) but they changed it during shooting.
Even without knowing it.....flow of story hinted it.

It doesnt work this way in Korea. If his parents didnt approve his marriage with her - he never ever married with her. Outcome would have been that his family would take her child from her by court bc she is ophan without family and poor, so court gives custody to father and his family. This is Korea.
He could love or whatever - without parents concent - there isnt marriage in Korea. Couples live not years but decades and wait for parents to approve their marriage. And if parents find suitable in-laws, they make their kids marry to persons whom they dont love. Luckily that last tendency is now becoming rarer and only rich families mainly do it.
It is in dramaland mainly that parents give in and let their child to marry person whom they dont like, after long and tragic struggle, in real life it isnt so happy and fluffy, mainly couples just break up forever. And if they manage bribe out marriage concent / bc og pregnancy/ often family later despises mother of child and this makes so hard pressure to couple that they divorce. Of course child custody goes to father bc mother dont have job / housewife/ and home for living / if she is orphan like her /. a.so. a.so.

LOL.....but he didnt want marry her. How she could do it? Forced him with gun? And after death of husband she ....she didnt love him and didnt trust him anymore. Telling him then and marrying him could mean she abandoned grandfather and his dead husband, her child would got hurt badly bc she loved her dead dad. Then she would become mean and worthless woman. In Korea you dont abandon elders and family were you lived years.
It is easy to throw stones ....it needs head and heart to understand.

Decendants of the Sun is good drama, with good acting and well planned script. But it isnt for them who want light romcom or pure military action thriller. It isnt meant to be that kind drama.
Please come back Mister is nice drama and kind of rare drama bc its black comedy parts. Black comedy is rare thing in Korean dramaland bc of korean social standards and traditions. Bc it is so rare then it is nice to watch how actors and director struggle with this genre. About writers ...until now they have done good job but there is still chance that they have written yourself into corner and must use a lot of deus ex machina for endings....but actually deus ex machina itself is one part of this drama, so it doesnt harm. :D
