ugh.. I actually have not watched eps 18 yet, only watched until eps 17 when Wook and Yeon hwa plotted to be queen.…
CR wasnt naive girl. She was girl who has been thru lot, who kew how to use people asn how to be used. Yes, she fall in love with prince and just got greedy. to please her lover she has done what he has told her. She knew clearly that she comitted crime and she knew about what comes to her if found out. She didnt think about HS like her best friend but like someone whom trust she can use to be near her prince.
First she might be done all this for her family, then for herself. She knew that 9 th prince used her but this was her only chance to be near him.
Still she knew what she was doing...so no excuses.

CR is same like was her best friend in future who run away with HS boyfriend, who helped cheat her out from her home and loaned tons of money on her name leaving her in deep depth......and she too was doing it only bc she was in so deep love.

CR was mistreated by thous with power only bc she choose to let them do it.
She had ways out of it but she didnt use them.

If your best friend cheats you with your boyfriend and takes your home and money bc she just fall in deep love - do you find her still be precious and delicate?

If your best friend uses you to murder someone you know and cherich and spys on your workplace what are you and your coworkers doing bc her boyfriend wants info and power and helps her boyfriend to frame you in crime bc some power struggle - do you still find her to be precious and delicate?

Hae Soo understands that Chae Ryung did it for love. But why she can't understand the action of Wang So?…
In future when her best friend run away with her boyfriend and cheated her out from home and money... she had done it bc she was in love too.

Do you see similarities?

....but she has wowed to not change, even if people mistreat her.
Until she doesnt think hardly about how to keep her wow and what it really means......her fate is sealed - in past and in future.

This is karma.

Are we going to find out the reason as to why she was sent to that era ,and why the astrologer was in the 21st…
One mine theory is:

She was sent to past to see from what her actions in future come, from what her karma has come.....and to overcome it in future. Learn lesson.

In future she was betraied by friend and boyfiend, robbed from home and money bc she was too naive and trusting bc she desided not to fight for herself but solely be there for others and shut eyes on ugly sides of life..... she denied reality and wanted to believe that her imagination is reality.
She was not grown up inside, was weak and naive all this caused her to have what we saw in the beginning of first episode.
So she was brought back in to past...

We see her stating that : she never changes and people can trust her .....and she totally doesnt change.
This causes all what we see in drama.

It is from one side very admirable and lovable, draws people into her but ....this i,s when times and circumstances change, becomes her weakness and people who try to protect her get hurt bc they hurt her anyway bc it isnt possible keep time still.
So all this protection makes her more and more isolated and lonly and more vulnerable to attacks and to be used in other peoples game. She doesnt want deal with problems but just avoid them, shut eyes and pretend - thous issues doesnt exist and believe that doing so...all goes back to be good bc she is good, she havent changed.

She run away from all problems in future, to sit alone and drink and cry about her miserable fate.....and now she plans run away again, to be alone and cry about her miserable fate.

Nobody can change your fate for you...and you cant change fate of other person.
You must fight for your dreams and future, you must change and grow, learn and go on to make your fate to be what you want.

I hope when she comes back to future she sees that she has done same mistakes in past and now...that now she is able to grow and change, learn and go on...fight for what really is dear and important to HER.

literally all the historical dramas that I've watch didn't have a happy ending.. yet I desperately want…
Historical dramas rarely have happy endings. What have happy endings mainly are fantasy mix historical aka were main point isnt history but something else and fiction is biggest part of story.
Thous are fairytales what end with : "...and then they lived happily ever after"

Yes, in parts what isnt relevant to Korean history they try to keep it close to original novel. But when novel doesnt go well with history they make changes in novel part not in history part,

theres something i dont get. beak-ah cant marry woo-hee because she's from later baekjae but the 3rd was…
You havent read mine post carefully....
Wang Yo's mother is from other clan than Baek Ah mother. To Yo clan people of Baekjae havent done nothing but for Baek Ah mothers clan they have.

Like you see there was country with name Hubaekje aka Later Baekje - what was in war with Goryeo.

This is reason why he cant marry her if she still belongs to her clan. She cant marry to his clan bc his clan has taken revenge to her clan - there is blood between thous two clans.

Yo was able marry his wife bc Baekje was one country what was untied with Silla country what was untited by king Taejo and his marriage was political and needed for her mother clan to have power in old territory.

Still her wifes status was considered to be very low. bc Silla has concured Baekje in past and Yo clan was aritocrats of old Silla....reason why his son cant be CP bc of status her mother in eyes of Yo clan and other old Silla aristocrats and eyes of clans from other areas.

Baek Ah mother wasnt from same clan than Yo mother, even IF she was from Silla kingdom. Silla wasnt clan but big kingdom with different clans.

Even if her uncle was tied with Yo clan, her father was from different clan, so she belongs to different background. It is all up to whom parents were married to whom.
Siblings who married to different clans has different status relevant to status of clan were they married.

Marriage of cousins or even half siblings was normal in this era within aristocrats and royal family. It was to keep power and wealth within family. Bc of wars and plagues population wasnt this time so big eighter and lack of suitable marriage candidates with right status was one reason too. Later, already in Joseon time, this custom vanished bc reasons for it vanished. What is normal is desided by needs not by some rules or religion or w.e.

King Taejo married many-many times with womnes from powerful clans from countries what were concured in war or what freely unfied with his country.
So being from same country doesnt mean being from same clan.

So this isnt plot hole... it is just history of Korea.

@Monica: Baek -Ah and Wang Yo have different mothers from different clans. So what is ok in one clan isnt ok in other. Baek-Ah grandparents from mothers side had their family killed by Baekjae people....so his mothers side of family doesn approve any ties with Baekjae girls and she isnt just average girl but princess of Baekjae.
3th. princes mother is from different clan and they dont have any hard feelings toward people from Baekjae.

This simple is it...and it was clearly told in episode.

I don't get where they're trying to direct this story with the remaining three episodes to be honest...
You still expect Korean historical persons to be same like characters in Chinese historical novel.

In Korean history 4 th prince wasnt married like Chinese 4th prince was so they couldnt borrow this detail. They borrowed only details what doesnt go against Korean actual history. So all what happened in novel just doesnt fit into story.

First Chinese adaptation of this novel is very-very different from novel, yet it is same story, same time and exactly same persons.
Korean drama has different era, country, person, story and historical facts - it is so different basics that comparing is nearly impossible.
And I like it this way.
It would have been royally boring if they would made carbon copy of BBJX, not only boring but total waist of time and actors too. I can just rewatch BBJX.

If you havent seen first adaptation of novel - then go watch it.
It is in same way made in China, with Chinese actors a.s.o. and you see how differently can be one story told by different storytellers.

The hints are there.......it will sort of follow the novel and the Cdrama. Soo will be forced to leave the palace…
If they do sequel....I kinda doupt it, Korea isnt good in this area - so many dramas are left hanging in wait of 2.season.
BUT...if they do it, I think movie would have be best solution or if it needs to be drama then shortest one - 12-16 episodes.
And they need to start from point: history repeats itself, all things go in rounds what sometimes manage to become spiral.
Similat circumsatnces but in modern time way, karma what characters must bear and ties what even time cant break. Still modern era gives to characters different possibilities to use. I would love to see how they use them, what part of their self is obtained with living and what part comes from heart and soul. How many of them can save itself and others from falling for greed a.s.o. Does they have learned lessons in the end of their past life and have stepped into next life with out burdens and guilt.
Does they remember or not this past life isnt even important but it would have be nice if Hae Soo's memory somehow, at least partially survives and other characters have some innerfeeling of some closeness or something similar.
You know, sometimes you met someone first time and you feel that you have known this person like ages.

Chinese 2.season vent kinda astray and plot loosed all connections with 1. season. Twist become more and more ridiculous and crazy and in last part even makers were in trouble how to end this mess, so they made many different endings.....what was kinda lame and confusing.

If you started watch with expectation that some characters here have good outcome ....then it is bit sad. This drama bases on historical events and on novel with tragic end.
Bc chilly pepper is nicely red you hope it to be sweet like strawberry....and after biting every pepper you have given, you find that outcome wasnt good ...eee sweet at all.
Ok, this was joke but roughly similar to truth.
No good outcome might sometimes be good thing and very satisfieing too :D

I don't get where they're trying to direct this story with the remaining three episodes to be honest...
:D It is different for different people and this is normal.
For me thous sidestories and piles of details in BBJX dramas got bit boring. I usually dont need to see all tiny details of story or all connections between events drawn out to see on screen by mine eye. It feels like spoonfeeding and start annoy me soon and then bored.

Similarities between thous two periods of different countries are more than fighting for throne and killing.
Both have 8th and 4th prince conflict, both have 14h prince who is into army stuff and 13 th pince who is free soul a.s.o.
When they started to think about making drama of this period or when they saw BBJX - similarities should have been very feltable. They just borrowed idea of girl from future to start their journey. If they had done it without paying for adaptation rights....it would have been scandal and lawsuit.
Already borrowed one element, they just added some famous moments from BBJX to make story more atractive. But many thous moments have totally different feeling in this adaptation.

HS interaction with other princes were made known, yes not so detailed and dragged like many would have wanted but enough to keep story stright and not spreadng to all corners.
Why they loved him is too clearly shown, anyone who watched with attention can tell ( sry. if I maybe overrate people). So for me and i have seen two more adaptations of this novel, all feels ok. But like I say - for me, people are different.

Adaptions are different....ones what use only few elements from original and change all other aspects and ones what follow original nearly !00%. And between thous two are hundreds other versions.
Being adaption doesnt mean that different dramas must be similar like drops of water.
They just took period of Korea what has so many similarities with BBJX and to avoid any disputes and claims added "adaptation". Already brought rights to adaptation they just use some elements from novel.
This all should be ok bc author of original is ok with this version or they shouldnt use novel. If author of novel is ok how they use original story - who are we to complain?

@IllaGG Yes, more eps would have been nice...yet, this isnt BBJX and sidestories what novel has isnt relevant to Korean story. It would have just dragged plot and all step by step growing intencity would have been gone. How now drama is build up is well done. It is just how i feel it.

Even if you dont know about Korean history or havent seen other adaptations of original novel, you should already see how it ends.

Ep 17 is frustrating because of certain pestiferous people...-.-..and how the episode ended....I forgot all about…
IU acts kinda ok, not stellar but not bad, at least in this drama:
I have seen a lot worse actings from famous and hyped actresses....and yes, i have seen better acting too.
In this drama her acting skills fit well with roles difficult level and character.
And, no,her character isnt Ruoxi and this drama isnt BBJX.

Most of Jdramas are adaptations of manga anyway,
If not adaptation of manga then they are adaptations of novel or even anime. It is very rare that jdrama has original script, maybe they dont have good scriptwriters or just go easy way and use fame of manga, novel or anime.

But same time this raises one problem ....they need cast what would be popular among originals fans, so they use a lot idols whom acting skills are average. Bc of this there is so many shoujo manga adaptaions what beside idol hype are usually kinda average.
Shounen manga adaptations are bit better but seriously suffer if there is need for special effects.
So i prefer that they make adaptations into anime, % of success is higher but not granted.

Zetsuen no Tempest and Tokyo Ghoul are good manga, I prefer that they never been made into live action. I dont want see average acting and poor effects ruining story. Characters are young and finding fitting and skilled actors who are able to build good roles...
Adapting into anime is ok.

Other mangas from list are typical shoujo and if made into live action their fate is sealed.

It would bee thinkable if adaptations are done not in Japan, with help of good scriptwriter and director.
