You know, I was actually thinking about it. They showed Soo Min and Jin Sook crying , but except that JiHyungMin was wearing black, we didn't see him thinking about Baksa or anything, they didn't even show a funeral so I was actually thinking that maybe JHM helped him faking his death. And that explains why the writers made him have a new identity abroad :)
I just love him. Saw him few years ago in Between Dog and Wolf, and now in Prison Playbook ...but for me his best role so far is Cruel City! He was just brilliant. Can't get over it yet
Yeah it's unfortunate that there won't be a second season probably . But for at least we can know that they planned to do it! Which means he's alive (and that also makes me feel better with myself about the ending hehe)
I read many things about that actually. In Korean, I read that the writer said they left it open for a possibility of a second season. In English, I read that there was another scene they filmed when ShiHyun is actually now living abroad with a new identity. and 7 years ago I heard a rumor about an alternative ending. I couldn't find anything about it (not even in Korean as my Korean level isn't that high ^^") Anyway, I think you can say that he's alive :) I also wrote in a comment what I think
Oh god this dramaaaaa it took me 7 years to watch it but I'm so glad I did!! Have to write things about the ending
I read the comments here and didn't understand-why all of them say that the ending is a sad ending when it's clearly an open one? The writer also said that! Personally I didn't find the ending so sad. I think this drama can't have a good ending anyway because of it's naure...but an open ending is indeed better here. Baksa is alive, just without anyone knowing-think about it, Soo Min is finally a policer, he probably doesn't want to ruin her life now when he did so many things in the underworld(cause it will effect her)+Jin Sook needs to be free already, he wanted it the whole time (BTW that moment when she told him she's proud of him!! T_T) Anyway, it's clear for me that he will probably be alive somewhere, maybe not in Korea as he had such a complicated life. He and SooMin will meet eventually.
I really liked this drama. It's been a while since I watched such a roller coster and a moving drama like this one. The characters are so memorable, I was surprised almost everytime, and I was hooked from the beginning until the end. There aren't many good dramas like that.
The only think I didn't understand was-so how did Shi Hyun's mother really died? If it wasn't Safari ajussi? was it just from drugs that she got her hands on? If someone reads it and understood I will be glad to read your answers! :)
I think that Joon Ha's ending was too sad and unnecessary...Why would he say that to her ... and why would he had to die?? I didn't get it. I also think that they should have shown us why Sang Min fell for her, as it was a but rushed and unclear. Anyway, It was an amazingly beautiful movie. I enjoyed it a lot.
